There are many many ideas piling up, but I need to make time for it. Been talking to Will Shaw and we are arranging to make progress on Tryptamax in January. Hopefully we'll get at least a track out.

One of my favorite solos in any song. That first lick just always pumps me up. Man, you just nailed the whole thing. I couldn't tell this wasn't Petrucci if I heard only the audio.

I hate the diagonal chromatic 12, 14, 16, 18 thing towards the end after the tappy bends. I DO NOT like that part!!! You totally nailed the attitude though.
Thanks, man!! Yes, I'm using the ML5 plugin! Been using it for the past many weeks. Great job by ML! Yeah, the chromatic bit at the end is hard but I have a harder time making some of those fast bluesy licks (with the quick bends) sound convincing, and also the sweep part.
@@ThiagoCamposOfficial That blazzy (bluesy jazzy) section is one of the most signature parts I've ever heard in any solo ever. It is a bit weird with the swing and it's extremely difficult to play it with as much conviction as Johnny made it.
The secret to playing something like this is to break it into a dozen or so parts. I know you know that, this is for any future shredders reading this and wondering where to even start with something of this caliber. It will also allow you to digest it more easily...there is A LOT of notes if you look at the whole thing. Also, make sure you can hum it...burn it into your brain...and then do it like this. 🤪
My fingers cannot stretch far enough on the fretboard to do that wild sweeps .. i hate this part also ..
This is one of the hardest DT guitar solos... I'm 99% sure that even Petrucci himself can't play it if you surprise him out of the blue and ask for it without him practicing it first 😅

ML5 is great. Very close to my Mark V.
I don't have a MARK V but I'm very experienced with Mesa Boogie amps (I own 3) and I agree. Amazing plugin by ML.
