This is pretty much the way it sounded in Tacoma in January. The interlude wasn't quite as long, and Maynard told us a story about his new electric toothbrush.
@@RDMusicExchange To funny, But I meant it as you are going to be bouncing around the house telling her all about it while she just wants to take off her shoes and relax. LOL
this was actually recorded before fear inoculum somewhere in 2015 if I'm not mistaken. I think I can hear the inspiration for some of Pneuma in this song
Tool is really starting to make up for that loooooong ass drought between '07 - '19. As someone who likes all of Maynard's projects I feel almost spoiled in the last few years. Now we need a new Tool record or at least an EP or something.
I enjoy most of Tool's music and this was Tool!!!! I was a bit mixed about the vocals. Parts were strong but the vocals that resembled the first couple seconds at the beginning I could've passed on. Also not sure about the beard and stash?
😂 Thanks for the feedback! I didn't shave this morning, and as Isai, it was a last minute decision to film this as I had just seen on Insta that it had been released! :)
I've only listened to this sober so far... Never was a fan of the original.... New version is better.... Can't wait to hear it after a gummy in a few days
@@RDMusicExchange last night I took a gummy 1 hr before bed... Went to bed, turned out the lights and listened to this with headphones... The middle part was absolutely incredible!!!!
I'm not sure of he changed key, or just selected different notes/octaves /tones from within the original key. Only seems to be on the first bit, the later bits are similar to the original. Thanks for watching!
As you know Justin often plays parts that don't sound like the bass and can often sound like the guitar or keyboard. This was me listening to the track for the first time mate. Chill the f*ck out.
I always took this as a man talking to his drug(god) and it talking to him, and them speaking to the listener. But an addict in the grips of withdrawal speaking to you, its the drug speaking, not the person. Hence when I speak it speaks through me. And the rape part isn't meant sexually. The violation against ones will is what i see. Ask anyone who's had to deal with an addict. It tears families apart against their will. Of course that's my interpretation. You can have your own
Interesting take mate. I've always taken it as a priest violating his position and power and being a sexual predator, but then justifying it to himself as God's Will. Also the original EP cover had that freaking priest with the eyeballs on the cover. But I like your take too. Thanks for watching!
I find it funny when someone like this says “ I’ve been a fan for 30 years “ Then the extended bit of the song comes in and he says “ new territory here “ Lmao this extended version has been around for over a decade , and respectable tool fan would know that . What a noob
I first saw them live in 93. I'm hardly a nood. Does that mean I've got every bootleg ever released? no. When I said new territory, I was referring to a new section of the song I'd not heard before. Sorry if I offended your superior Tool knowledge sensibilities.
I really love the decisions the band made on this remake. Very impressive and it has me screaming for new music.
Me too!!

Sute, Maynard, why not! 😂
Like a kid getting exactly what he wanted for his birthday. Joyous. Someone is risking getting an ear full tonight when she gets home. Peace/JT
😂😂 worth it!

@@johnthompson6374 Probably!
Great as always Adams tight as ever
So good!!
Thanks for watching (literally recorded this 30 mins ago, so sorry if it's a bit rough!)
If Opiate was a track in Fear Inoculum
Right?! Love it!!
@@RDMusicExchange totally ! Me too

Interesting! Thanks
Just saw this in Boston. No breakdown in the middle, I would have loved it. Great reaction!
Thanks mate!

Yes please!!!!
That slow down portion is phenomenal and I could listen to that forever. I love this remake and I hope to hear more
Agreed and agreed!
Thanks for watching
If you watch some of the live concerts, you can see Adam playing a keyboard during songs with the same sound of this song.❤️🤘😁
Good to know - Thanks for watching!
They definitely played it in New Orleans, but Hooker with a Penis stole the show for me! Love this new version!
Hope that play both of those next time they are over here!
Thanks for watching!
Toooooooooon!!!!!!

the mid section of this song reminds me of pneuma....Love this version.
Yep, I get what you mean!
Thanks for watching!
I saw them in DC and they played the original version.
Good to know - cheers!

Sadly they did Sober instead of Opiate at the show here in Houston. Sober was amazing too though if course. 🤗
There are no bad songs at a Tool gig! :)
I'm pretty sure it's being released in about 3 weeks
Yep, realised it's not out until the 18th. I've pre-ordered mine so looking forward to seeing the vid then!
Cheers!
What was the original key for the vocal? Maynard obviously made a key change here to accommodate the maturity of his voice.

React to epica kingdom of heaven part 3 omega alive or react to epica unchain untopia omega live .
Ok, thanks
