- I'm in LOVE with my big B-E-A-U-TIFUL whale fin sansevieria {Sansevieria Masoniana}! Today I'm dividing my whale fin sansevieria and repotting them to get TWO new plants!

@@GracefulPlants do you let the white broken off root cactus over/dry out for a few days before repotting? I just used rooting powder and cinnamon.
Thank you! I finally nabbed one of these bad boys this summer and loveeeee it! It has a new pup that is growing so insanely fast, which has been quite satisfying to watch. I wasn’t sure if I should separate it because it’s growing up into the original leaf but I think it needs more time to grow and establish more roots. I’m going to let it do its thing for a while.

Hi, so its been 4 yrs since you put this video out. I'm curious about how the propagated pup made out and what it looks like mature. I was gifted a pup yesterday and was surprised to see that there are actually 3 leaves. I've only ever seen Whale fin as a single leaf. Do you have an updated photo? Thanks

I'm reluctant to divide mine. I have read that dividing them can really set them back and slow their growth down. I would love to know how yours is doing now a few months later.
I can see why you'd be concerned. My large mother plant has a new pup barely popping up thru the soil and it's been about 7 months since I had divided them. Hope that helps! :)

Hi, May I know what is the reason for the whale fin sansevieria to curl and fold? I only had this problem with one of the big leaves. The other two leaves were alright. Thanks
I ordered a Whalefin from Hirt's, too! But, it came damaged! Luckily, I had 2 leaves in one pot. They were great about the damage and credited me for the entire plant. I have yet to re-pot both leaves, but I need to. One leaf is cracked from the top to the middle. I was really bummed!

Oh no!! I would have been so sad if one of mine was damaged! But I agree, as much as Hirt's can vary on their shipping practices, they've always been great about 'fixing' issues with plants that I've called about being damaged or missing.

How are the plants doing now?
Good Morning. I have a Whale Fin with 3 in one pot (I bought it that way). I notice that there is a baby coming in the plant. What do you suggest that I do since there is already 3 of them in the pot. Thank you.
My small pup with 1 leaf grew 7 leafs total in 6 month now its pas spring and its growing 2 really big leafs i think its gonna shatter my pot haha its on east window that is tilted that gets sun almost a whole day like from day it go's up till 15:30 then another 1 or 2 hours from my north window, it dries up in a week or so if there is a lot of sun.
I don’t see the new decorating pots with drain holes.

I have not fertilized these guys yet. When I repotted them originally I had mixed in some worm castings but that's all so far. 😀
Brut worm castings sprinkle on top of its soil does wonders to plants

could not find a whale fin on hirt's website
Hirt's updates their plants quite regularly so the trick is to constantly be checking for new available plants. Unfortunately I haven't seen them on the website since I purchased these. 😣
