    • @hamshackleton
      @hamshackleton 2 місяці тому

      I notice you have removed my comment about when the cam-car was leading - whoever was driving the Renault was wandering all over the lane, swinging from almost in the grass to well over the centre-line. That's a driving test fail! And the Renault has the same flat fronted draggy boring face as all the other offerings.

    • @fullychargedshow
      @fullychargedshow  2 місяці тому +14

      @@hamshackleton I certainly didn't remove anything. We had to upload a new version of the episode because of a technical problem with the original so the old version was deleted. As for the driving shots, the filming took place on a very quiet lane where we had at least half a mile of clear road in front of us. Both the camera car and the filmed car drive for very short, controlled periods, in different positions on the road to allow the camera to see as much of the car as possible. Of course it's a massive, calamitous driving test fail. As for the look of the car, that is entirely up to you.

      Love the reviews as always. Only thing in this review which was a shame not to highlight - the various driver displays. We test drove the Megane E-Tech and loved the elegant display, especially the subtle circle dials (speed & power). Really wish our MG4 Trophy had a display like the E-Techs. Scenic looks fab. But, better efficiency with MG4, yep.

      That's fair criticism. I guess as a potential buyer you still have the ability to go watch other reviews of the same vehicle but your comment is absolutely right. FC videos should be a one-stop shop in video form for a new EV. We shouldn't have to go watch other reviews.

    I was lucky enough to UK test drive the top of the range earlier in the year when my local garage said they were getting one in for their own sales people to see it. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. I have no idea how I will afford it, but there's no harm in trying. Been a while since I've raved about a Renault but I think they are doing a great job with their new models

    We need more EV's with high efficiency and smaller battery to give high range. An 85kWh battery costs more and requires longer to charge. Otherwise a great review and always fun when done by Bobby! it is good to see more and more EV's coming to the market as it increases the choice.

    Agree with your comments on range becoming irrelevant and Teslas still consuming 20% less. But as an engineer I could not find anything about battery cooling, but I am sure it's liquid cooled with preheating for cold early morning starts and for charging preparation (????) or that the heating/cooling is done by a heat pump(???). Automotive commentary needs to address EV issues and not on cupholder, etc.

      You are correct on all your assumptions, apparently it has very good battery heating and cooling and heat pump as standard. Tesla consuming 20% less but battery is smaller, in the long range.

    I have to say, well done Renault, it has ticked all my boxes, fulfilled all my wishes for Polestars, the 360-and-rear camera combined view, the smart space utilization in the cockpit, the physical buttons, the roof rails, and even fancy sunroof! This is amazing! I have seen the Norwegian NAF measured its baggage room (trunk/boot) 96*88*67 for claimed 545 L, for a shorter than P2 car at 4470 mm. I’d only wish two things from Scenic: 1) give a Dual motor version, driving in the Norwegian winter is much better with AWD; 2) could just add 20 cm in car length to be the same length as a Polestar 2, and the same floor area in the trunk but much higher for a gigantic storage room!

    Regarding driving assist, can't resonate more. I rented Renault Arkana when it came out and it felt so easy and reliable. @@miless2111sutube I'm 6'5'' and I went for the option without the sunroof for those reasons. I have the light interior though so I don't miss the sunroof to be honest. I love my Ariya but it has a lot of software "quirks". The internal storage is adequate but not what most people would want. The stupid movable centre console on the higher spec is a waste of time and money for all concerned and just a gimmick. What's really annoying is that even without that you still get the same console but it doesn't move and you don't get any extra storage. So much wasted space there! They have the "secret storage" compartment in the dash which is tiny and pointless. They could have put the wireless charger in that location instead and given people a normal console storage bin.

    phenomenal range of 275 miles on the highway in the summer for £41k purchase price according to the EV database. My 16 year old E Class Mercedes diesel has a range of 650 miles on the highway and it doesn't have much difference in the winter either and a much bigger car as well, it can also do another 650 miles after a 5 minute fill at supermarket fuel prices. Progress ? If I travel with my driving spouse, we can eat, drink and rest in the passenger seat also, leaving only 5 to 10 minute pee stops, if we are in a hurry and don't want to stop but with an 87kwhr battery you are charging for about an hour, depending on the rapid charger speed, each time, that is if you are lucky and the charger even works, or is not already in use ?

    Priced right. If the car is more expensive than the Model Y it better show more than some silly buttons. Even more so when the built-in FSD hardware will someday be the #1 item on the car buyers' options list. Many Tesla drivers already swear they will never buy a car without the FSD.

This place is deserted in comparison. The speed limit signs were a bonus, when it said 50 it was in mph not kmh, great! I can go faster than I thought.

    Two comments, I need to move stuff, one reason why I went for the Tesla Model Y, it has a huge boot. You didn't give any indication of the boot size of the Renault. Secondly, all very well plugging in to a Tesla Supercharger, but you pay more than Tesla owners and a Supercharger station is laid out for cars which have the charging port on the rear left corner of the car, not on the front left wing as shown on the Renault. You would have to take up two charging bays.

    We’ve had this Iconic Scenic on loan from Renault for the last week. It looks great, has tons of kit, great range, but a couple of things ruin it - my left knee touches the corner of the phone charging tray thingy, it’s uncomfortable and potentially awful in even a slight crash 🥴. It also has a few bugs - the seat doesn’t always go back to the recall position when starting the car. The alarm went off during the night for no obvious reason. The drivers door isn’t great for resting your arm while driving. The plastic ‘key’ thing is awful. I’m being overly harsh, but I don’t think I’d trust it on a four year lease as it just feels a bit too flimsy. It’s a massive step up though, and I’d give it a solid 7/10 even given the negatives. If your knee avoids the phone tray then I’d definitely consider it 👍

    Personally, Fully Charged car reviews are getting worse and worse. There is a lot chat about nice/not nice, heavy, not so heavy steering, this feels this or that, but not much actual data. How it charges, does it have battery heater, does it work when navigating via Google Maps, can u manually enable battery heater? how does it feel navigating through menus? Whats DC charge curve like? Trunk capacity and so many more important details. This video was pretty much about nothing what could tell someone to get it or not.
