pros vs cons - first pros its quick so fast and comfortable the entertainment system is fast no lag, the drive is far superior to a petrol or diesel its has nearly no outside sound, the stereo is perfect plenty of options for base treble and it has very load speakers, seats are very comfortable, the electric back door is a gift, the suspension is so good even with 20 inch wheels cant feel hardly no bumps there so much this car gives but now the - cons first the person who made the front safety belts must be a moron there back so far and so close to you're body that you have to squeeze them in to lock and that stupid automatic shifter why couldn't they just put a button on the dash it so easy to make a mistake that i can see many people having a crash the rang is shit it tells you have 360 miles or so but you would have to be driving at 20 miles an hour or less to achieve this, and the i haven't even tried the local charging points as im charging from home dont even start with home charging, it tuck 3 apps and 20 a temps at plugging it in and out and in again plus about 3 or 4 hours to get the car to communicate with the apps and for the charging box on the wall to cut out and didn't even warn me it takes about £15 or £20 to get from 20% to 80% they say that you shouldn't charge over 80% and under 20% so really all the talk about rang is crap, there plenty more things that are good and bad this car so its all about what you can put up with, oh and those door handles brainless just stupid.
Too many panel bits add ons creases and joints, cleaning nightmare! And no, don't do a Kia, we don't need annoying 'welcome sounds' and bings and bongs everywhere 😂 Good to see the navigation has caught up with Tesla to sort out the charging stops and pre-consitioning, who have been doing it for years
You seem like a bland boring dud looking for a car to match you. I love the welcome sound and the artistic exterior designs. You better off finding your next car at your local junkyard.
Weybridge to Blackpool is 245 miles and you talk like this is great? For an 87 kwh battery that is pretty poor. My Hyundai Kona EV 64kwh will easily achieve 300miles even on the motorway. The WLTP figures for this car are extremely debatable given its weight and size of wheels.
Ok but will you be able to go 300 miles with out a break and still be able to drive safely? I couldn't so if I'm stopping anyway whats the use of those extra 55 miles?
I think I know how this EV won car of the year, is this the model that has a hole in the bodywork for a fire engine to insert a hose in case it goes in fire? Very assuring.
none of these cars will be on the road after warranty expires.Just look at the way the screen vibrates on the road (20:50). This is going to fall apart in front of your eyes. It goes back and forth 1cm.. just imagine it on gravel ... It would not survive 500 meters. new screen is about 3-4000 €. Renault should be banned from making cars and this comes from megane 2023 owner.
Too expensive, underpowered, FWD and the interior is nothing worth mentioning. Had a test drive of the Cupra Tavascan, and its better in basically every way compared to the Scenic.
Well spec for spec the Scenic is cheaper (the Scenic range goes even lower if you wanted a smaller battery). 220hp for a family car is plenty. Were talking 66hp difference, not exactly night and day. FWD again family car, safety is more important to customers for the Scenic rather than driving dynamics. This is obviously different for CUPRA customers. Interior? Apart from the Google infotainment which has been regarded as the class leader, the solarbay roof than no one else has this side of £100k, ingenious armrest and the class leading space inside that helped win it Car of the Year for 2024? Its a good thing were getting the Tavascan later in the year to be able to offer choice against two products focused at very different markets.

Don’t overplay the mySafety button it’s good but Renault driver assistance is some of the most chilled and finely tuned in the game.
Good to have both options
Car of the year? Can't beat it's rival the Explorer.
Is that the same Ford Explorer built using last gen VW parts? Do explain why you think this.

Better performance and efficiency:
Scenic: 86 kW, 220 hp, 300Nm, 7.9sec>100km/h, 625km wltp
Explorer: 79 kW, 286 hp, 545Nm, 6.4 sec>100km/h, 602km wltp

OK its a bit faster. It's also £4,900 more expensive....

Lads, It's a Renault of course it's going to breakdown and rattle a bit!
You're clearly unfamiliar to the Renaulution
so the towing limit is 1100kg 'with driver only'..... My caravan max weight is 1050 so i cannot even put any luggage or even a small child / 50kg / 7.8 stone without exceeding the towing limit. This is crazy. I've been caravanning for decades and whenever (every 3-4 years) i've got next car i've always checked the next car's towing limit (braked) and NEVER EVER been given anything other than 'towing limit is xxxx kg. I understand that towing limit is always on v5 document - and doesn't reference 'driver only',,,,, so can anyone please clarify this. Renault tell me 'all other manufacturers state same',,,,, well they don't!! This looks to be a great car and towing limit is just right, but i'd prefer not to go on holiday on my own .....
although.......... :-)
You might want to refer that to Renault UKs product team
@@smcmotorgroup they say all manufacturers do it this way. NO THEY DON'T. I've checked with several other manufacturers and all say car (whether 'driver only' or fullly loaded) has same towing limit. Caravan Club tech dept feel they're putting a 'high' number to put against competitors but in reality it looks to me to be 'flexible with the truth'.... Bye bye renault
General point. Car of the Year is meaningless nonsense .
Test drove one yesterday.....broke down and wouldn't restart.... needless to say we didn't buy one😊
Sounds like you got unlucky there. Come try ours. Hasn't missed a beat.
Typical Renult
pros vs cons - first pros its quick so fast and comfortable the entertainment system is fast no lag, the drive is far superior to a petrol or diesel its has nearly no outside sound, the stereo is perfect plenty of options for base treble and it has very load speakers, seats are very comfortable, the electric back door is a gift, the suspension is so good even with 20 inch wheels cant feel hardly no bumps there so much this car gives but now the - cons first the person who made the front safety belts must be a moron there back so far and so close to you're body that you have to squeeze them in to lock and that stupid automatic shifter why couldn't they just put a button on the dash it so easy to make a mistake that i can see many people having a crash the rang is shit it tells you have 360 miles or so but you would have to be driving at 20 miles an hour or less to achieve this, and the i haven't even tried the local charging points as im charging from home dont even start with home charging, it tuck 3 apps and 20 a temps at plugging it in and out and in again plus about 3 or 4 hours to get the car to communicate with the apps and for the charging box on the wall to cut out and didn't even warn me it takes about £15 or £20 to get from 20% to 80% they say that you shouldn't charge over 80% and under 20% so really all the talk about rang is crap, there plenty more things that are good and bad this car so its all about what you can put up with, oh and those door handles brainless just stupid.
What's the real world range? Long range is predicted 370, that's never accurate from any manufacturer though, is it at least 280? 300?
We're consistantly seeing over 300 - 330
Shit title who don't reflect the reality !!
Shame
and yet the analytics tell me you're wrong!!
Shame
Expensive
slow charging
high consumption
3 thing you dont want
Thank you for your insightful input.
Range even with the bigger battery is not enough.
What's with the terrible wheel designs today on most cars... taking into account the " better aero".
Theres your answer...
Too many panel bits add ons creases and joints, cleaning nightmare! And no, don't do a Kia, we don't need annoying 'welcome sounds' and bings and bongs everywhere 😂
Good to see the navigation has caught up with Tesla to sort out the charging stops and pre-consitioning, who have been doing it for years
Just a shame the Tesla can't go as long on a single charge.
You seem like a bland boring dud looking for a car to match you. I love the welcome sound and the artistic exterior designs. You better off finding your next car at your local junkyard.
God knows how it one, but being a Renault it won’t be on the road for long
Weybridge to Blackpool is 245 miles and you talk like this is great?
For an 87 kwh battery that is pretty poor. My Hyundai Kona EV 64kwh will easily achieve 300miles even on the motorway.
The WLTP figures for this car are extremely debatable given its weight and size of wheels.
Ok but will you be able to go 300 miles with out a break and still be able to drive safely? I couldn't so if I'm stopping anyway whats the use of those extra 55 miles?
@@smcmotorgroup good review though and the car does tick lots of boxes
I think I know how this EV won car of the year, is this the model that has a hole in the bodywork for a fire engine to insert a hose in case it goes in fire? Very assuring.
What on earth happened to car design. Horrible heap of un aerodynamic rubbish. If you want to go green design something small, lightweight,
They did its called the Dacia Spring
Agree. Must admit I prefer the e-Megane styling. BUT, unfortunately, too many deal breaker issues for the Megane☹
Good thing Renault built something larger to address those concerns then
none of these cars will be on the road after warranty expires.Just look at the way the screen vibrates on the road (20:50). This is going to fall apart in front of your eyes. It goes back and forth 1cm.. just imagine it on gravel ... It would not survive 500 meters. new screen is about 3-4000 €. Renault should be banned from making cars and this comes from megane 2023 owner.
What an awfully designed car. Did they use AI? I love french cars but this one doesn't make sense to me at all.
They used a french designer Gilles Vidal to design it. But design is subjective afterall.
Nobody knows how that glorious plastic won car of the year. Imagine turning a utilitarian mpv into an elitist EV. Disgusting.
@@lucasroper46 at that price and being an EV it IS elitist.
If you go to www.caroftheyear.org/index.php it'll give you a full breakdown on how it won.
@@smcmotorgroup yeah narrative bs
Never see one on the road. EV’s are dead.
The key though! Chunky and cheap looking
Not going to lose it though
Boring design...
Just another boring suv!
Just say GOOGLE SET TEMP TO 21/SELECT SPORT/TURN ON/OFF AC/RADII/NAVIGATE TO ans so on
