I was wondering why you put the stilts on top of each other all the way up, and you explained - thanks! Now "shelf life" has a whole new meaning for me. I liked the cone boats the best. I'd love to see a view of when you open the kiln after the firing - that's always so exciting! Interesting video, thanks Derek!

Derek, have you decided to no longer do the videos. You really do a wonderful job, and hope to see you again.

Hey! I contacted a local company that helped me build and install this kiln, it is not a DIY so you will have to buy one, sorry I don't have any easy hacks on this one! Thanks for subscribing!

Great Video. I wonder if you have a suggested place to purchase silica carbide shelves? I live in Moab so most likely will have to have them shipped.

Thanks so much 🙏🏽 I get them from all over. Usually kiln shelf has them in stock. I am phasing out the carbides and getting all advancers. You could ask Jim of Cooper Works here in Denver. Euclid is also a good resource.

Cones measure heatwork while a thermometer only measures temperature. That is why cones may bend at a different temperature than your thermometer is reading.

If there is not enough space in the kiln , will it stop the temperature from rising above 700 degree Celsius.

There is a high limit / soak feature on the kiln. However, we are firing to 1251C

Why don't you support all 4 corners of the shelves?

3 corners is easier to balance. 3 corners can still hold more than the shelf.
