i had so much fun with this game in the arcade. definitely one of my favorites next to house of the dead and time crisis.
wow i never knew about that weird colorvision mode. my eyes would bleed if i played it like that haha

My brain shuts off in that hunter mode and all i can do is watch for zombies. Devs taking the time for secret game modes is awesome, but at what cost?

Colleen and I knew about this and she convinced the person running the arcade (because he thought she was hot) opened up the machine to give us more than enough credits to do the Kron mode.

I've always wondered what weapons the infected men use. It looks like Deagles, M16, some sort of shotgun. But what's the big box weapon that some guys use?

This game brings back so many memories in the 90s I remember playing this at the bowling alley and laundromat!

Even a laundromat had this game? That's pretty smart since folks have time to kill and a pocket full of quarters. The ones I've been to only had the snacks and news on the TV. It felt like it was everywhere back in the day, but not in a bad way. It was usually one of the cheaper games and its a quick play through.

Me, my cousin and our friends played the hell out of this on the PS1. We even had derogatory names for the different ranks you could get like major Woody private parts and corporal cluster f__k. I'm surprised you didn't mention the controversy of the shake your Buddha bonus stage

I did not see the Buddha bonus room in my playthroughs or in a video for all the bonus rooms. But, I see it in this max force duo cab version that has a bunch of new rooms. Holy cow ua-cam.com/video/U_RXBNNBRPw/v-deo.html.

Haha, G.I. Lovewar is the greatest catch! Dude, I totes remember this game.. I definitely always went for the lightgun games, myself.

Light gun arcades were just the coolest. I dont think time crisis games with their recoil pistols were topped, but i'd be happy to hear about cooler cabinets I may have missed.

I loved this game as a kid, but never had any of the home ports. Instead, I had the surprisingly decent experiment Tiger tried with light gun LCD games, where the light gun folded up to be stored in the game itself. Mmmmm... Those SUPER grainy voice samples...
This was a great deep dive into the game, and I really like the small touches like recognizing that the destruction is overlaid and identifying the names on office doors. In terms of the objects actually shifting perspective, I would guess that they were part of the prerendered part of the FMV, which would make them 3D models instead of sprites... Or, well, video of 3D models, I guess. That would explain the transitions, as well as the need to overlay the destroyed versions of objects, rather than have that be sprited out.

I kinda want to hunt down one of those LCD games, and also kind not because it would it just sit on a shelf and I NEVER buy things that wind up sitting on shelves; nope nope nope.
I learned the arcade game actually ran off of a hard drive so I could believe they did animated sprites or 3D models for the destroyed stuff as it changes perspective. And perhaps through clever planning and maybe scaling are able to re-use stuff. It'd be great to talk to someone who worked on it and find out for sure.

@@SweatyCowch * Laughs * You'd think it'd just sit on a shelf, but I played the crap out of mine (I always wanted the Virtua Cop one, though...)
Ooooh, I didn't know it ran off a hard drive! I agree; it would be great to talk with one of the devs - we should ask around on Twitter!

I think you should do a review of Pirates one because the more obscure games deserve a review
