SHORTCUT KIMCHI
INGREDIENTS
3-4 lbs napa cabbage
1 cup sea salt/ kosher salt
1 cup room temp
KIMCHI PASTE
3/4 cup gochugaru (korean pepper flakes)
3/4 cup hot water
3.2oz apple sauce packet (1 packet)*
6 TBSP fish sauce
3 TBSP sugar
8-10 cloves minced garlic
12 scallion, cut 1.5-2 inch wide
1 cup carrots, julienne
*may substitute apple sauce with 3/4 cup apple juice
1. Cut Napa cabbage into quarters. Cut the core off Napa cabbage an then cut 1.5-2 inch wide.
2. Sprinkle 1 cup of sea salt and 1 cup water over your Napa cabbage. Combine well. Allow this to sit while you prep the rest of your ingredients and allow this to sit for 30 mins. (Note: I sprinkled 1/2 cup of sea salt and water at a time)
3. After 30 minutes, your Napa cabbage with decrease in size. Rinse and wash throughly under cold water 2-3x. On the last round, make sure you squeeze out any extra liquid
4. Make your KIMCHI PASTE. Mix all of your ingredients listed under KIMCHI PASTE. Measurements can be adjusted according to preference
5. Now combine your Napa cabbage with your kimchi paste. Mix well. Store in an air tight container at room temp for a couple of hours and then move into the fridge.
Note: I love eating my kimchi as soon as I finish make it but it’s all preference on how fermented/ sour you like it. Kimchi is good for 3-6 months.

Thank you! That’s so helpful.. I couldn’t find anything decent even at the Asian store around here
"You're Korean, YOU HAVE TO EAT IT"😂❤

It so funny
@@athena_daphniethat’s what she wrote. 💀

I did this. It came out so good. Finishing up the first batch 2 weeks later. 🥰 Its good all on its own.
I made a half batch and it came out great! Initially it was quite sweet but it toned down later on. Can’t wait for it to ferment a bit more. Thank you for the recipe!
Those containers are the BEST!!!! Little on the pricey side but worth it.
"team no bra baby" 😂😂😂 honestly so real
do you think it will be ok to add some onions?
It’s usually called 겉절이 (kut-juh-rhee)in Korean. We always go for this over traditional kimchi because it’s so much faster & gotta love that fresh taste!
Thank you! I looked up a recipe in Korean and see that plum sauce can be used. I don't have any applesauce at the moment, so I'm pleased as punch. =^_^=
It's the first time i hear "i didn't have applesauce so i used plum sauce instead" and i don't think i will hear it ever again.
@@roxyndra😂 same, I always have plum sauce but rarely keep apple sauce or even apples to puree them in house
@@zr4664 right? apple sauce goes off so quickly, and plum sauce is so versatile!
@@roxyndrawell to be fair she did say if you don’t have apple sauce you can use something else like plum sauce or something else that sounds good to you
Glad I’m not the only one who likes Kimchi when it’s at its freshest! All my friends like when it gets sour, that’s why I prefer to make it at home using Manngchi’s Emergency Kimchi as a quick way and eat it within a week or so.
Best way to use a lot is just make a big thing of kimchi fried rice 😋
I tried to make homemade kimchi a week ago, it was amazing the first day, really good on the second day aswell, but it started to get kinda funky/vinegary on the fourth day, and once i put it in the fridge it became way too sour and it smelled awful when i opened it up, it is possible i didn't ferment it properly but honestly i would rather just not risk it and eat fresh spicy kimchi.
@@CarpetHater you're supposed to put it in the fridge after 1-2 days you left it out way to long.
@@sleepytubbs9405 i followed Joshua Weissmans recipe and he said 4 - 7 days before putting it in the fridge, but yeah, i made a new batch and put it in the fridge immideatly now.
Love the short version! I have almost everything I need to finally try kimchi. I can't wait!! 😊
Hope you like it!
@@alissanguyen_ you are Korean
Second Did Adami Get a Tan he’s So Cute
He tans really easily!
@@alissanguyen_ wow he’s So Cute
Get a julienneing mandoline! It is SO much faster than julienneing with a knife, it's a life-changer for making kimchi.
Huh, apple juice or apple sauce! I've never thought about that.
I like the middle pieces of the cabbage the most, too.
Thanks to one of your commenters, I see that plum sauce can be used as well. I might have to make some shortcut kimchi tonight!
Been using your recipes lately and my wife and daughter absolutely fell in love with your sushi bake. Lived in Korea for a few years with the military and was very jealous of my friends who had kimchi on lock. Gonna be trying this recipe soon
This looks sooo much easier than what I've tried. I like kimchi flavor but really dislike fermented foods unfortunately, I'll have to try this! :) Thanks for sharing.
Omg thanks for this recipe! I always wanted to make kimchi but shrimp paste is too expensive in my country 😭
Hope you're feeling well. You sound a little like you are under the weather ❤
Adam and AJ are so cute. Adam looks totally unconvinced by your kimchi tho lol
Thanks for this short cut version, I'm definitely gonna try making 👍👍👍
Hope you enjoy
The way she said You guys are Korean! You have to like it! 😅😂
Love the t-shirt!
Wait does a kimchi container make a difference with the fermentation? I usually put my kimchi in any big container I can find however there's a lot of air space once we start eating it 🙄 so sometimes it tastes fizzy LOL
Yes
I love cabbage but have tried traditional Kimchi so many times and just can't get over the taste.
I'll have to try this recipe since it seems very refreshing!
Have you ever tried using pickle juice instead of water for the mixture ?? Was thinking about making a batch myself, with pickle juice instead
I cut carrot into sheets before layering them overlapping on the cutting board and cutting that way
I also much prefer geotjori over traditional kimchi. Especially paired with fatty meats. Best combo.
Wish you were my neighbor !
so.. no one heard that? 🤣🤣 “shake your booty ass”
Gotta love linkin park😂
🤯 Where's "TOMORROW"⁉️
I agree. I think I would prefer fresh kimchi over fermented, too! Tried fermented. Couldn't do it.
You killed me with the "sickayoasss"‼️‼️🤣
I have kids so I get it. 💯
Thank you so much for this awesome recipe.!
Now I will be able to eat kimchi! 😎
🤩🥰🙏🏻💙💙💙
I was just looking for something like this because I love pickled things, thank you! Your baby is so cute!
2:52😂😂
Linkin Park!❤
It was the "sickofyoass" that got me 😂😂😂
I’m also a fan of fresh kimchi and you are correct, that is the BEST part of the kimchi. So crunchy!
you know she's nice when she's giving it to her neighbor xD
I’m korean and I don’t even make the sauce in a separate bowl I just dump them all in one bowl with the cabbages😂
Thank you for sharing the short cut. XO ❤
Daaang wish I was your neighbor girl.
LINKIN PARK!?!? You just became waaayy cooler 😎
❤ Looking for the link to buy that handy box where you put it in.. 👀 Love your humor and content 🎉
She linked it in the description actually, get it fast cuz they’re almost out!
I use this recipe and I always use apple sauce
Awe, i wish you were my neighbor lol. Im gonna try and make this. I love kimchee fresh 😊
Hi! I love your vids and I’ve been making your recipes since last year and OMGG they’re delicious! Keep up the good work and keep making your 5 star meals!😁
Yay! Thank you!
@@alissanguyen_your mango bango was amazing! OMG it was so good!
1:46 im not Chinese but apple sauce with kimchi just doesn’t sound right
A lot of recipes call for julienned Asian pear so apple sauce isn't that far off. And it's Korean
When she said at the beginning that the last time she made kimchi, she made it “the traditional way,” was she referring to the time she made kimchi with SUGAR and also VINEGAR??
Hardly traditional.
100% inauthentic.
Just made this ❤❤❤ I am in heaven. This recipe was so easy to follow, no muss no fuss and I’m one very very happy lady! Obsessed. Thank you for sharing your quick recipe 🥰
julienning is also my least favorite veg prep. Try a julienne peeler. The sticks aren't as big and it looks more...rustic, but it takes a fraction of the time.
My question is does the fresh kimchi have probiotics? I'm making kimchi today and I'd rather have it fresh but really need those probiotics
linkin park😭😭
Recipe? Please! Doesn't have to be precise, just wanna try to make it. ❤
Can you use a different cabbage? Ive realized that i dont really like nappa cabbage
I WANNA TRY UR KIMCHI SO BADDD. invite me to the cook out pls IM BEGGING. 😭😭😭
Why didnt you use those little salty shrimps? Is this vegan kimchi?
@gamingfoodie Can we get the link to your kimchi container? :) been looking for a good one! Love that yours has that kind of "vacuum seal" part inside!
Did you know you can buy carrots cut up like little matchsticks at the supermarket
omg i am the first one love your videos
😂🎉Have a cookie😅
I agree that the stem with the leafs on the sides are the best
omg i am the same i actually separate the crunchy park of the kimchi and the leafy part and make two separate batches
hello! i love your vids, and finally tried this recipe today! my first time making kimchi. in the description, it says kimchi lasts 3-6 months. is that the case for this kimchi too, or only the fermented kind? thank you!! :)
Looks absolutely delicious. A must try
I like it but without the fish sauce. Mother’s brand is really good. Someday I’m going to try and make a batch myself.
In what way is that different from the traditional kimchi?
oh Great i like fresh and not too sour too . I will make this your way 😋😋
i thought i was the only one who used apple sauce in kimchi
How many napa cabbages did you use? 3?
Rip Chester 😢
Your nails are always so pretty 😍❤
YOU DO MAKE THE RULES
The shirt 😍😍 I have the same one I bought when I was in middle school, now my kids wear it
Thank you for sharing this recipe 🙏🏼💕 I love this Kimchi short cut version you did. Can’t wait to try this sometime soon.
I tried it and it tastes amazing! Thank you!
For how long can you keep this in the fridge??
Damn can you send some 🤣😂😂😂 i always wanted to try this wish you was my neighbor 😭😭😭🤣😂
I love taking a break from my screaming kids to get on UA-cam and listen to yours ;) Also can I be your neighbor too 🙏
Wait so nobody caught "I'll clean the tip later" or am I just weird?
First: This looks amazing
Second: I had to go listen to Linkin Park after watching
My favorite part is the part you hate 😁
Longer videos are the best ❤❤ have you considered doing a little bit of vlogging? Gurrrlllll you got FANS! We'd eat that ish up 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I cook rice flour into a paste for the sauce. You don't! I will try this next time. Interesting!!
Is there a way to make it with very mild spiciness? I have gastroparesis and cant stomach a lot of spice any more.
Like so much your t shirt. Absolute fan of Linkin here
Damn love this girl. She got it all right. That is good kimchi everyday. Kimchi! Love it!
What is the substitute for fish sauce I'm a vegetarian can u reply please
Gave “Suvi, you’re Korean” vibes 😂😂😂
"Sickofyoassss" lmfao I'm done😂😅
AJ saying "booty burn" in the background lmaooo
What can i use to subs the fish sauce? Cant eat seafood..been making kimchi vegan version for years now but wanna try this recipe as it looks easier..
Link to the kimchi container please 😊
Can I leave the fish sauce out and at shiitake mushrooms? Wanna make it vegan and more nutritious 😄
Adam is so pretty !!! Greeting from Argentina
Where do I find the kimchi ? Flavor what is it ?
No one is gonna comment on the "im gonna give this to my container" instead of neighbor lol
Can you make without garlic I have an allergy to it
I really wanna try this it looks so good!
i love kim chi so much but its too spicy for me
(don't kill me)
Hahaha Aj saying burned your bootie ass hahaha
When the Kimchi get sour, make it into soup.
I also love fresh kimchi!!! ❤
Put some salted shrimp next time make it taste better
That little dude is always so sweet 😍😍
Can I use grated pear instead of apple sauce?
