I've spent a lot of time and money on different storage systems for my beads. I never kept up with them. Nothing beats tubes or bags in a box or basket, so I'm back where I started. Best thing I ever did was ditching the fancy stuff. Now I have more time to learn, practice and create! Loved this video. Sorting by color with the fire polish was so beautiful. I could look at that all day. 😀
I love your seed bead storage technique. I, too, use tubes to store my seeds, drops, tilas, magatamas, super duos, etc., but I have them in test tube holders by colors. I believe your basket idea would take less space and allow me to store more beads!! My crystals are sorted by color in the divided plastic storage boxes like yours but I store them loose and use the dividers. Thank you for your wonderful ideas. Your tutorials are so helpful and I've learned so much.
I have to be organized otherwise I can't work, I separate my gemstone beads and seed beads and crystals etc. by color in clear plastic boxes similar to yours. Oh I also use the plastic boxes to separately store each, the gold, silver and rose gold metal findings. Oh, boy, I also have tons of 8, 10 and 12 mm beads and wire and chain from when I string and wire work jewelry so that's what I mean..If I don't keep all this stuff organized I'll go crazy. Thank you Stephanie for your input on this subject of organization, I loved loved the way you store your firepolished beads, like you said, they looked so inspiring that way. I don't have that many firepolish beads (as I would like) right now so they are all in one box, mixed color and sizes but of course planing on ordering more lol.. I also have a label maker and label everything..Don't have your nice little scale to weight the tubes, that was a nice little gadget. Thank you for all you do 🦋🌸💞
Great storage ideas, Stephanie. I really need to take some time to organize because I have beads everywhere. I've actually ordered the same beads twice because I don't remember what I have. I see that you are partnering with Eureka Beads on their new collections and I am very excited. I love your style and taste in beads so this is great!! It's because of you that I started purchasing the collections from Eureka, I'm so happy they're coming back!!
We just moved into a new home. I have a whole room all to myself for beading and a desk area for other business. I’m back to watch this! I have a beautiful farm house desk to bead on, light, so excited. But I have to now organize! I bought the tubes, stickers, etc. And 16 months of BBB in itself is a healthy stash! Not to mention other beads purchased. I just love you Stephanie! We would be coffee friends I’m certain and wine, too☺️😂😂💕🌻⭐️
@@BronzeponyBeadedJewelry lol that would be too fun! If you’re ever in New Orleans I’m close enough we could make some awesome Cajun food and drink happen🌸☺️ (this also gave me a reason for a new label machine💪🏼😂)
You are so talented, every time I click on one of your vids I'm just amazed I have been stringing beads for about 6 years now and I got bored then I checked out one of your vids and you blew me away. I'm on Etsy have been for a couple months, I still haven't sold anything but I'm hopeful. I'm on a budget but when I get some extra $ I'm going to invest in some better beads and give it a try, so thank you for giving me some inspiration to try something new
Very interesting. Love this. I've been changing my entire storage for my beads for the past week or so. I found these tiny bowls with tops, 10 for $1 at family Dollar so I bought about 20 bags with 10 each inside so alot. Lol. Still haven't finished. Have so many beads. But the storage part is a fun part right now. Lol
Organization is so important! I have the label maker and I too label everything. Seeing my beads neat and organized motivates and inspires me to be creative!
I also used to use the Avery labels but I got tired of messing up when writing them so I recently bought a labeler like yours. I love it. It's a lot less stressful when I need to make multiple labels.
Thank you for all the great tips!! I thought I had a pretty good system going but after your video, ooo my I had to laughed at myself!!! But it is the best fun I have ever experienced in the world. Let's Keep Beading!!!!!!
I got so excited when you mentioned to watch for this video. I REALLY need some ideas. As a new beader, my storage system is less than desirable at the moment. I, too, have cats... three... who hate anything to be left on the desk. Thanks for the tips!
It's always interesting to see how people store their beads. I love your idea of storing by color, and I can see how it is inspiring! I'm going to revamp mine to store by color as well. Love the idea!
I absolutely love your videos, you are a great patient teacher. I finally saw your studio video and was so impressed and inspired with its size and efficiency. Less is definitely more. Thank you for sharing your 'GIFT'.
Thank you for this video! i always seem to struggle with 'how to' organize. I do have a label maker (love gadgets too!) I organize by size and type, and have my beads in acrylic screw on containers. I like the separating by color that you do ... next 'sorting' day I will try that. btw i have cats too, and they love to 'help' whenever i start creating. Have a great day!! :)
You and I have very similar ways of storing our beads. I even have a label maker. I like the clear tackle boxes to store my firepolish beads. I keep my seed bead tubes in bags like you do and then in plastic shoe boxes with snap on lids. Thank you for confirming I'm doing things right. 😊
Hi I really enjoyed watching this video. I have two wooden book shelve units that I use to store my beads. I also love to store my beads by colour. I still got some good ideas from watching how you labelled everything. I wish I had done that when I started beading. I can see myself being very busy for some time labelling all my containers. I get so excited when I see that you have a new video, I am looking forward to your next one. I hope you and your family are well. Keep safe.
This was so helpful. I have conquered seed beads, super duos, rivolis, chatons, but the Dollar Bead Box stumped me. Lol! This is perfect! Writing on the back of the card is perfect! I did come across clear acrylic boxes with drawers, from Michael’s that fit in 16x16 cubes. They are designed for washi tape. I am going to use them for 3, 4, 6mm fire polish ( I think). Thanks Stephanie! Communicating here, because I have dumped Facebook.
Wow you are wonderfully organized. Thank you for sharing! I love beadsmith bead tower for the tubes. I organize by color and it has a clear plastic case with handles so you can conveniently take them with you when traveling, etc. I keep them in the case and store them flat but if you have the room it can be turned into a tower and set on shelves.
This is really helpful. I store my strands by size rather than color, but I like the idea of doing both size and color. As for seed beads, I just ordered a hundred tubes from Beadaholique! I’m in the process of moving things from bags to tubes. I did buy their stand that has elastic to hold the tubes but I have more tubes then the slots they have so I’m thinking of getting more and having one for silver/gold/bronze beads, of which I have a lot, and then use the other for the colored seed beads. I’m looking forward to seeing your next couple videos! Thank you for sharing!
I love the label and organize, too, Stephanie. :-) I also sort by color, and if the boxes are mixed I go by prism of ROYGBIV. I do cut my strands, though and store the beads in compartment boxes from Michael's. I find if I keep beads on a strand, I won't use it, LOL. Thanks for the great ideas and inspiration!
Thank you! I'm sure your room is a beautiful place to make your beautiful jewelry! I like to buy the small over the door hanger storage (similar to shoe storage, but for jewelry) to put findings etc in.. I'm in the process of trying to make my storage areas inspirational instead of just storage..... I have alot of work ahead of me, but will get there.
I have those boxes with small flip top boxes in it. They mostly use them for diamond painting. I love it. With 2 boxes i have everything stored. And bigger things just in a normal box
I buy bulk plastic test tubes /caps and they come with a holder. Works great and looks beautiful displayed. I label my holders 11/0’s delicas, superduos etc
An idea for your blank wall behind your desk you could add a hanging system to hang finished necklaces, earrings bracelets or even beads that are sold on a string. I have used window screen and rabbit wire to hang jewelry on your could frame those and hang them.
Those darn, pesky cats--ya just gotta love 'em! Thanks, Stephanie, for some good suggestions on storage. I have just begun a sorting/storing process for firepolish beads, so your suggestions for getting them organized so I am able to see what I have will be a huge help. Thanks for doing the hard work of "thinking" for me--lol!
I also move all small beads to tubes. I also transfer all string hanks of beads to tubes using a marker to label color numbers, etc., on the tubes. I add the purchase to my iPad inventory with a code for the company name and price. I can look up any number color when in the shop to see if I’ve already bought.
Hi Stephanie! Thank you for this video. I notice that there’s a lot of tape wasted when I print labels individually for the margins on either end. Being very conservative and cost conscious, I try to print many labels at a time, and only use the space bar a couple times between my labels and then cut only once. I use a sticky note as placeholder “label” till I’m ready to print. Hope that helps! I too ❤️ my label maker( mine was also a gift from my daughter) thanks again!
I've seriously out grown my current storage methods but I just have not got the motivation to reorganise to new storage 🙄I wish there was a bead organiser I could hire to do it all for me!! Great tips as always 👍
Thank you, Stephanie! I am in the process of reorganising my beads (again!)... but I wondered, what happens when you do a project with the fire-polished beads and you have a few beads left behind? They're no longer on a strand, how will you put them back in the box? I am still trying to decide if I want to store by colour or by size. I used to always store by colour, but now sometimes I look for larger beads to use as focals when I'm stringing, so I've decided to store 10mm and above by size instead of colour. I hope this will work better for me, because if not... I might have to reorganise again! ::groans::
I just started changing my storage set up. I've discovered I'm not fond of the bead tubes. I really like the twist on and off stackable storage containers.
I love your work & you are one of the best teachers on line. Way better than " the beaded path " even Patomach . So pat yourself on the back... I love the tubes you use where do you get them? I love beads and hope I can get my arm to work to do the stuff you have taught.🥰🥰
love your style of organizing know what you have ! I am new into small beads sorting by color, but still looking for a system i am using the mini stackable containers with screw on lid, not having enough yet !! but love your tube system too.
Stephanie, I have so many beads, tools, metal and fabric. What company did you get your storage and work table from? I’m trying to condense a lot of stuff into a large corner of my room. Help!
My work table is from Pottery Barn but they no longer carry that style. They have another nice one but it’s a bit more expensive. Look under their office section. The storage baskets are from Michael’s or JoAnns.
OCD much? 😁 I store my beads in pretty much the same way. The much larger beads and gemstones are placed in a storage bag, by color. Sometimes I do set aside the beads and findings that are going to make a project, necklace, earrings, etc., and that way I won’t need to dig thru boxes to find what looks nice together. Always enjoy your videos and tutorials, thanks for sharing.
I've got one of these Art Bins, but have yet to utilize it. I think it will be perfect for findings, which I now store in a good-sized plastic storage tub (yes, kind of organized), but in stuffed ziploc bags therein, not optimum. I think this Art Bin will be perfect for more precise organization of my findings. I'm hoping to ultimately do my bead storage somewhat like Gina from Orchid and Opal, with a wall o' beads, like a craft store. Since both of my daughters have long since moved out (they're both in their 40's now), I've got two bedrooms to utilize. However, they are both storage rooms right now full of Stuff, so I've got a ways to go to reach my goal. Still, I'm determined to get 'er done. I suffer from depression, so some days are more productive than others. But I feel that getting this craft room set up will be wonderful therapy for me. I love any input of ideas, as we all have different views on "filing", and I'm open to whatever works for whoever because it might just work for me too. Thanks for sharing this. You've got wonderful tips and suggestions.
Suggest if opening tubes of beads - screw the top off, because if you just pull the top off.... you don’t want to pull the top off and end up picking your expensive gold plated Myuki’s off the floor.
