Okay folks, talk to an electrician before you do the first one, because, adding jute to arms could throw the blades off balance, and covering the vent holes could cause over heating. Idk, I'd check with someone first.😊
The fan is old. Adding any additional weight will definitely put more stress on to the motor. Plus, the motor now has been painted (through the vent holes) and has been choked by closing vent housing. I don’t know about causing fires, but that old fan was able to run as long as it did because there was proper ventilation. Just go and buy a new fan.
Re: balance Don't ignore the little stickers on the blades, they are there to tell you the order to attach them so the unit is balanced and doesn't wobble like crazy!
Well I didn’t think nothing of any of it until she remounted it then I thought the same thing. I thought she was gonna use it for something else since it was old. But then she. Well anyway. I thought same thing when she hung it back up. That fan probably has some major shaking. And overheating 🤦♂️
The rattan on the fan blades is just decorative so it doesn’t inhibit the function of the fan. I don’t know what she was thinking covering that part of the fan with the ribbon. Big mistake covering the ventilation with the ribbon.
The title to me suggests that she was gonna do something completely different with that old fan. 12 min wasted. And she just mounted a new hazard in her home.
Does your old ceiling fan need a makeover? Do a whole bunch of steps that could've been accomplished by just painting the whole thing white. And don't forget the all important fire hazard by covering the ventilation! That ash and smoke will really pop against all that white!
@@sarahwilliams4092 if your ceiling fan gets that hot when it's running, you need a new ceiling fan. There is a whole lot of circulation with it running.
Hope your fire insurance is up to date, although a claim would be denied as this video proof that you altered the product and did electrical work yourself. 🤷♀️
I painted my ceiling fan but I didn’t do all of this extra looking stuff. The fan had the bright brass metal finish. I painted the metal parts oiled bronze and left the wood look blades alone .I guess I am tooting my own horn but I think mine looks 10x better than these .
I agree with other comments. The housing is vented. Covering it is a fire hazard & is ventilated for the motor. Second, the painting of fan blades alone, let alone the wrap, will cause a seriously imbalanced fan & also a hazard. Imagine the imbalance as the fan spins & tearing away from the ceiling & coming down hard!
Never ever PAINT the motor housing. Paint is flammable. While this is very PRETTY, covering the ventilation for the motor will result in overheating and a fire, making this craft absolutely a fire waiting to happen.
BAD IDEA (for the first one)! Even if you don't start a house fire by restricting the ventilation of the motor, you've just turned something that is reasonably easy to wipe clean into a permanent dust magnet by using matte paint, ribbon and jute - none of which can be wiped properly.
There's a reason fan blades are always glossy finished... Dust. Also, regardless of the context, I will never use red to spatter paint. Just reminds me too much of a crime scene. But the coat hook idea is cool. Great way to salvage old fan blades. And I like that wide hook - less pressure on the collar of my coats.
Housing looks and functions better without the jute. It looks like it does not allow the machine to breathe. It can cause overheating. Additionally, too much whiteness of the fan looks dull on the white ceiling. However, the idea of redesigning and recoloring or make over is good; although, it shouldn't compromise the functions of the parts.
Yep vent holes help keep motir from over heating. Fan is there to help keep you cool when hot. Over heating motor can limit its life and or make a fire.
I really love your idea it turned out wonderful I would love to do that also but I don't have a fan I don't think that I can do it with as of yet thank you for the idea though you are very clever it looks beautiful on your wall very antique looking I like that a lot
Everyone trying about the ribbon on the side of the house while ignoring the openings in the top and bottom where she removed the material that was on the inside.
Be very careful messing with the fan motors and wiring, even once the power is off and they're completely disconnected they still have strong capacitors in them and you can legit electrocute yourself and seriously injure yourself or die. Wear rubber gloves any time you're messing with those wires.
Absolutely the wrong thing to do! The fan and parts are supplied factory balanced to the GRAM and by adding other materials in varying amounts, the fan will wobble like crazy
Can't say I cared for any of these. Any time I see wood grain painted over, I cry a little inside. The last one doesn't show you how it looks when spinning, either, you could end up with an unpleasant pattern and out $200 (including supplies) for that.
I don’t see how this makes anything more “organized” but it’s definitely more of a fire hazard. DO NOT DO THIS. If you don’t like your current fan, buy a new one and have an electrician install it. This DIY crap is ridiculous.
Sorry, but you totally ruined the office fan… it was already a beautiful shiny faux wood. Now it just looks like a bunch of spray paint got away from you 🤷♀️ The fan in your son’s room came out very nice 👍
That’s how you burn down your house. You got spray paint inside the motor which is going to gum it up then put fabric over the ventilation holes. Don’t do this.
You want a different ceiling fan? Go buy another one but don’t ruin fan and waste your time doing this ridiculous decorating just to make it pretty. Obviously you people don’t need air circulation in your houses.
This is the most ridiculous thing ever. So dangerous wrapping the fan like that, and how TF does it make you organized? Oh yeah, it doesn't. You should be reported for making this dangerous video that is NOTHING worth doing.
🥴I literally thought it was a paddle like from back in the day that they would spank you with looks like you would have made a great one but they don't allow that anymore in America still the Bible lovingly says spare the rod spoil the child. May the Lord bless the reading and hearing of this verse in Christ Jesus name the others will understand what he means by it that it is for good to help to give us and give us a hope and a future and not to harm us😏🔥💕
Okay folks, talk to an electrician before you do the first one, because, adding jute to arms could throw the blades off balance, and covering the vent holes could cause over heating. Idk, I'd check with someone first.😊
Not really. The twine is close to the center of the fan and it's not the heavy.
Audio would have been helpful. 1 word is better than a thousand confusing pictures 2:40

I😂😢😮😂😂🎉😢😮😅😅@@sandaliolopez1030
My first thought when you started wrapping the housing was: STOP! That will cause the fan motor to overheat! House fire in the making!
Well I didn’t think nothing of any of it until she remounted it then I thought the same thing. I thought she was gonna use it for something else since it was old. But then she. Well anyway. I thought same thing when she hung it back up. That fan probably has some major shaking. And overheating 🤦♂️
You can get new fan for 50 bucks
All the time doing this isn't worth it
All that jute wrap and contact paper will cause an imbalance of the blades as well.
Fire Hazard from overheating because you covered up the ventilation
12 mins of my life I will never get back
I swear I was thinking this but trying to figure out how to word it! Thanks Friend🥰
Agree! Some DIYs are DI-donts.
@@teejay1650😂😂😂
@@teejay1650 i kike DI WHY? better 😊
STOP! The housing is there for a reason...ventilation! If the ribbon is too thick and airflow is hindered, it could catch FIRE!! 👎
Came here to say that! Also covering the rattan on the blades inhibits their air circulation. But covering the housing is what brought me to comment.
I was thinking the same thing! 😮
The rattan on the fan blades is just decorative so it doesn’t inhibit the function of the fan. I don’t know what she was thinking covering that part of the fan with the ribbon. Big mistake covering the ventilation with the ribbon.
My thoughts too
Thank you, my first thought!
First video was awful. Anyone with a ceiling fan knows that jute will absorb even more dust and dirt and never be really clean again. Awful idea.
Not to mention she created a fire Hazzard. You tube needs to remove this video! Pronto!!!
I was thinking she has to have a maid😂😂😂
You won't have time to worry about dust accumulation because the fan will go up in smoke from the fire
The rope is a dust collector, while wrapping the housing prevents proper ventilation and could over heat the motor.
Good way to kill your ceiling fan by covering up the ventilation.
Good way for fan to overheat and possibly catch fire
Arways turn off the par surprise
The title to me suggests that she was gonna do something completely different with that old fan. 12 min wasted. And she just mounted a new hazard in her home.
In summary: when you're tired of your ceiling fan, just go buy a new one. And when you need wall hooks, just go buy wall hooks.
Never cover the housing. They're not just for looks, they're vents to prevent overheating. Like the blades as wall hangers.
Does your old ceiling fan need a makeover? Do a whole bunch of steps that could've been accomplished by just painting the whole thing white. And don't forget the all important fire hazard by covering the ventilation! That ash and smoke will really pop against all that white!
Or just buy a white fan for 60.
Ash and smoke?
@@mcard48able fire hazard from covering the ventilation

Hometalk-you need to remove or modify the first video…you are promoting a video that covers up the motor causing it to be overheated.
Also, promoting electrical work that, for most, should be done by a licensed electrician.
Hope your fire insurance is up to date, although a claim would be denied as this video proof that you altered the product and did electrical work yourself. 🤷♀️

I liked the splattered paint idea the best. I’d do it in my kids room if they weren’t adults and moved out😊.
I painted my ceiling fan but I didn’t do all of this extra looking stuff. The fan had the bright brass metal finish. I painted the metal parts oiled bronze and left the wood look blades alone .I guess I am tooting my own horn but I think mine looks 10x better than these .
How will it breathe
Congratulations. You made it look just like its never been cleaned before.
Love the splatter paint fan! Really neat idea... And different!
Thanks so much! 😊

My contractor would stroke out TOLD ME NEVER PAINT a ceiling fan.. throws the balance off
I'd love to see the spin art fan when it was running ❣️
I will definitely use this DYI for hanging towels in my bathroom! Thank-you.

Awesome ideas with fans. 💜

Love the ceiling fans
You just created a dust collector 😂
Never modify your fans. Replace them if you don't want them.
Looked better & not a fire hazard before
Who has the time for this?! I didn't even have time to watch the whole video 😂
Don't ever 🤙 very with anything those are for ventilation what are you thinking
2:02 FIRE HAZARD
Love how it came out
Yep vent holes help keep motir from over heating. Fan is there to help keep you cool when hot. Over heating motor can limit its life and or make a fire.
This is super cute but I feel like there are a couple safety issues with the addition of the textiles. 😢
Not feasible for me at all.
I have this exact same fan it's crazy I didn't think anybody would have this fan and they're really old
I really love your idea it turned out wonderful I would love to do that also but I don't have a fan I don't think that I can do it with as of yet thank you for the idea though you are very clever it looks beautiful on your wall very antique looking I like that a lot

Love the fan hooks. Beautiful
Glad you like them!
Like thw hangin rack idea however I feel wrapping housing could be dangerous. Good luck..
OMG I have the same fan design at my home LIVING area
I think all that is a good idea. It looks good. But it sure is a lot of work. And for me it would be simpler just to buy a new one. LOL
Very creative ideas.🌼❤️
Thank you! 😊
Haha this looks so much worse after
Y'all talking about the fan ventilation.. I'm here because buddy said "ecspecially"..
I'm reporting this video as it promotes creating a fire hazard.
Don't do this , you will catch fire to your ceiling fan and probably your ceiling and anyone else above or below it too.
I love this
ADDING ALL THAT CRAP WILL CATCH DUST AND MAKE HARD TO CLEAN
Glad I skipped to the end.
Be very careful messing with the fan motors and wiring, even once the power is off and they're completely disconnected they still have strong capacitors in them and you can legit electrocute yourself and seriously injure yourself or die.
Wear rubber gloves any time you're messing with those wires.
Also why did you choose white? It blends in with the ceiling and tall people will get hit with the blades when they stretch if they dont notice it lol
The 1st. one is way too dangerous. The only one I like is the 2nd. hook one.
How does this make anything more organized?
There are already a bunch of comments about the safety issues. Why would you want to paint your fan white against a white ceiling
Those holes are not there because the manufacturer was running short on materials. Very dangerous to cover them.
What you have is something that will collect more dust than the original I don't think I would like
Stupid idea
YOU'LL BURN DOWN YOUR HOUSE COVERING THE VENTILATION FOR THE MOTOR.. LADIES DO NOT DO THIS!!!
Thanks!
Painting fine. All the other stuff, stupid.
What a way to ruin a beautiful brass housing. 😢
I think it’s better get a new one better than all the drama
Instead of going to all that trouble to have a white ceiling fan just buy a white ceiling fan
Absolutely the wrong thing to do! The fan and parts are supplied factory balanced to the GRAM and by adding other materials in varying amounts, the fan will wobble like crazy

First thing those holes on the side of the Fan are for air flow to keep Motor Cool .
Covering these vent holes aren't just for Decoration
Where's the primer?
Worst Hometalk ideas yet. A ceiling fan is just another appliance. It wears out! Replace it for your own safety.
Wow, this looks ridiculous and why would you wrap it. Wouldn’t the ribbon block the vent.
😱 this lady is gona get someone lose their home or worse their life Jesus
That's gonna get nasty real.quick.... then youmovered up ventilation area...😂
I just see all kinds of fire hazards here. 😢
I'm not sure what country you live in but in America a new fan is like $30 so not sure who would waste their life to do this. Good job 👍
This was posted on Joe Rogans channel 🤔
Um, bad idea! You'll overheat your fan and a potential fire hazard!!
I don’t see how this makes anything more “organized” but it’s definitely more of a fire hazard.

To much work for that basic look. Also there is the concern of the ventilation being covered 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

Ok, so i reported this. It is too dangerous. I hope you get censored for this.
