    Hi, I ordered a paint by numbers kit and started doing a bit of research on the how to
    I will ask this question in the spirit of the saying that there are no stupid questions :)
    This technique is used so the delimitation lines of the mapped colors are not so obvious ?
    At least that is what I think I saw here.

    • @PaintyKat
      @PaintyKat  5 років тому +1

      Yes, sometimes, especially on big areas as the sky or smooth background delimitation lines looking .... really strange and even with tiny blend there, the whole painting will look better. Blending not need everywhere and many areas can be done with by-numbers with hard lines... small ones looking good this way

    I saw some videos wherein they finish all the same color before going on to the next one. In your case you seem to paint them per area, so you have to keep cleaning your brush. Whats better?

    • @PaintyKat
      @PaintyKat  6 років тому

      Its depends on your own taste - both ways will work. I prefer paint "by object" - I mean paint vase for example, them move to flowers one by one. I also like to blend colors on canvas - to make borders between areas not visible (you can see streams on channel - I demonstrated this way of painting there).

    1) How thick should I paint? Just enough to cover the canvas, or so all colors are strong or??? My black sky seems a little thin in some places, even though I covered everything. 2) How closely should I follow the lines?

    • @PaintyKat
      @PaintyKat  6 років тому

      1) Thickness of paint depends on personal taste. Some ppl like to paint with visible strokes, some prefer thin and smooth paintings.
      Colors: black, navy blue, emerald, red, yellow, white - can be transparent (depends on trademark) and its mean we have to cover some areas with 2-3 layers
      2) About how closely you have to follow lines I streamed videos: goo.gl/8A3Y5R For beginners I recommend to complete first painting with line following, if first DIY painting is done - I recommend o try freestyle blend

      One more question, but first, thank you. I really appreciate it. This video is about blurring/shading and the example is great, but also is a big object, how about if there are several different colors, and more like lines about 5mm wide next to each other, which is the best technique for shading?

    • @PaintyKat
      @PaintyKat  6 років тому +1

      Same way of painting (freestyle blending) nice for small areas. Please watch: goo.gl/JX3Hxj

      Wonderful. I wish I saw this before I started. Hahaha. Okay, well, I'm almost done. After, maybe I will try zigzag and I will let you know how it is going. Also, in your painting you have a large picture to show. My kit has a tiny picture about 15x10 cm to follow. :P Well, I will do my best. The tiny picture has zero blending. Only sharp lines. So it's up to my imagination maybe. :D

      Hello! Some colors are really transparent coz of pigment (usually its white, yellow and red, can be emerald green). Its normal - professional acrylic even more transparent :)
      How to fix it:
      1. Dont put much water into your paints (if you use water).
      2. I cover number with white with white corrector pen (amzn.to/2qZII9X - like this)
      Please watch: quality of video is so so - but you can see how to use corrector pen. I usually use Erich Krause pen or BIC pen.

    Dear Madam, Maybe you can help me with some helpful advice. I bought two paintings Paint by namber on AliExpress, and the image, as they are written in the manual, is supposedly oily (clearly wrote: Oil, not acrylic). But those Chinese oily colors are very strange. Namely, I do not have a suitable solvent. These colors do not dissolve any water, nor does it dissolve turpentine, it does not dissolve linseed oil, does not dissolve acetone, nor dissolve even gasoline from the car!!! How do I paint my color? How do I wash my brushes? Is it some special cosmic chemistry? One thing I'm sure: It's not classic oil painting! - How do you dissolve the color for staining? What are you brushing? I will be grateful for any comment. Thank you. (Goran Malich, Belgrade, Serbia).

    • @PaintyKat
      @PaintyKat  6 років тому +1

      I see... I think its acrylic - as soon as "not dissolve any water, nor does it dissolve turpentine, it does not dissolve linseed oil, does not dissolve acetone, nor dissolve even gasoline from the car" - acrylic can be dissolved by monomer acrylic liquid only - if its completely dried. But after acrylic dissolved by monomer u cant use it again - just ok to clear brushes. Brushes in DIY kits are single-use - u paint ant throw it away.. quality of brushes in kits kinda low most of the times (Dimensions and Shipper can be ok - AliExpress ones are always single use).

    My art instructor, stated that it is not blurring, it is blending the colors on the canvas for a more realistic presentation of your subject.
