    Thank you so much for the tips…I have converted my favorite photo of my dear friend and her husband into a paint by numbers canvas. My friend’s husband recently passed away so I’m hoping this turns into a beautiful remembrance for her. I am a little nervous as I have never done this before so I greatly appreciate your help.

    I remove the number that I am about to paint by using acetone and q-tips

      @MissJanaMac most likely not as long as you let it dry. Don't use alot of it

    Well I had my canvas out procrastinating with brush in hand and thought “I really don’t know what I’m doing” lol. Thank god I watched your tutorial. I will now go and iron my canvas 🤣🤣🤣
    Thank you so much for preventing a failure before my brush even touches the canvas, phew 😆

    Very good and helpful video. The only thing I disagree with is making the list with the black Sharpie to see if the colors are opaque or translucent. It seems like too much work and who has white out these days. I would just paint the translucent color and then once it dries, paint over the number with a second coat of the paint to cover it up. I find a second coat usually covers a number.

    This video is just what I needed. I’m starting my first PBN kit and my first time using acrylic paint. All my questions were answered. The tip on identifying the transparent colors was excellent, as I heard that numbers showing through is common. Thanks for an excellent video!

    I section it off with Washi tape and complete them I prefer it this way. If a part with a number runs past the section, I number it with a pencil.

    Distilled water works best over faucet water. Use liquitex acrylic thinner to thin your paints so they last longer.

    I'm painting for the first time and I'm a bit confused because I'm not sure if I have to use the paint thick enough so it actually covers? Sometimes the paint is a bit tinner and you get that watercolor effect, but I'm not certain if that should be or not? It's real fun btw, I never thought I would love it but I can do this for hours and totally relax.

    Thank you for a very straightforward and easy to follow video. Can I ask why you always start with the dark colors first?

    • @emilyc9240
      @emilyc9240 3 роки тому +23

      Many people start with the dark colors first because:
      -dark colors are normally shadows and if you accidentally paint over it a little, the shadows are in the background as they should be.
      -doing blacks or dark colours first helps you to see the shape of what you're painting faster and is more encouraging.
      -I've seen some people say that it's easier to cover up mistakes with a light color on dark than dark on light, but ive also seen people say the opposite so I'm not sure.
      -the most important thing is to leave whites or off-whites for last. (If you start with white, it can be hard to know later on if it is a white section, a section you haven't painted or where the border of that section is)

    You could just put your brush tip into boiling water for around 30 seconds to reshape it rather than permanently damaging it by cutting away hairs.

    You said you usually start with the most translucent colors but on the end painting u started with black, a very opaque color. So are you saying to start with black vs a translucent if black is one of the colors? Then choose the most translucent following the black? That confused me a bit. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for the helpful video

    Thank you. I noticed you are dipping paint from the cap. Are you shaking the pot , or just using what paint is there?

    • @billknudson6620
      @billknudson6620 3 роки тому +5

      By having the paint open, the acrylic paint will dry quickly. Use the paint in the cap first, as it is the first paint to dry. You can then use the paint in the pot.

    Decent beginner kit as the final image isn't as important for beginners. The paint quality is what to be expected of a beginner kit. The final image in these types of kits are low quality, but good to learn the basics before moving quality brand kits that require blending, mixing, and other special effects but the final image is always superior to these beginner kits. But hey, these beginner kits are important and have their place to help those who don't have any experience with painting to learn the very basics. Good job.
