I’m still waiting to see what happens when ECBP C923 hits the shelves here in the Los Angeles area. I’ve managed to purchase the prior 5 years of “C’s” at around $70 without too much shopping around or calling in any favors. Let’s call it a test of the current market and of the impact of UA-camr reviews.
Saw this at MSRP and had the opportunity to buy but man at $300…. No. I’m not that balling rn lol but it hurts a little to pass on it. Hopefully I’ll find it a bar for a decent price pour.
This is way over my cap so I won’t be partaking in this. I’m certain this is fantastic just can’t pull the trigger on this price. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing. Enjoy!!
Would love to try it, but my limit on a bottle would be $200 and that is going to be a rare thing. Just too much good bourbon for less. It is a special release and I am sure all will sell, but just beyond what I am willing to pay.
I just picked up a Kentucky Spirit from CNF and it's so much better than the other KS I've had so far. I know it's only a KS but damn is it good! Wish I could find one of these in my area. Another great video Jason!
I have an CN-F, but prefer TY-K which is right outside the visitor center/office. I think the TY-K is better. My theory is since its near the visitor center which Jimmy visits often, it gets spirit from him, much like the woman who was healed when she touched Christ's robe. ;-)
Just got a camp nelson B 10 year pick from the 6th floor. 73.99 and it's phenomenal. No reason to pay this ridiculous amount when you can get 4 of the one I just got.
Campari seems to be turning up the heat on the frogs. I’m still reeling from the RR13 price increase. Buffalo Trace takes a lot of shit, but they’re going to hang onto their customers longer. Which they’ll need to given how much stuff they’ll be producing in a few more years.
@@brettdean8900 Like Jason said, Campari seems to have figured out what they've got. I'm certainly one of the frogs, since I paid the $150 for the RR13. My unit of bourbon currency is ECBP. RR13 is good (actually the best one I've had this year), but I'm not sure it's 2 ECBP good.
It's funny when high price stuff gets criticized for the price, calling companies greedy, etc., when the stuff gets sold on secondary or by crummy liquor store owners for double, triple, even 10x the SRP that people say is too expensive that the distillery set as their fair price..
I got Russell's picks from Wally's in Santa Monica from 2018 that are CNF 6th floor with the maroon velvet bag that I think is no longer offered. I should have bought a half case but I didn't because I thought $65 each was ridiculous then. I have some Tyrone picks from Continental Wine & Spirits in NYC 2018 also that are top notch. Pre 2020 picks are the best because they are all from the old still
I’m always amazed by differences in rickhouses. Or locations in rickhouses. You would think (and I’m sure they have) they would try to both diagnose and replicate the unique aspects of this environment. 😮
Sounds amazing. It’s over my price range I usually don’t go over $200 but still interested to hear your review! I like hunting for Kentucky Spirit Sib picks, even over the RR’s I’m probably the only one lol.
Sounds fantastic. I`m never likely to try `Single Rickhouse` but was fortunate to aquire a couple of bottles of private barrel selection single barrel, they were CNF, floor 4 & definitely some of the best bourbons I`ve had the pleasure of drinking. When you have such quality it really can cement you to the brand.
I will probably never be able to get my hands on this one, but it sounds like a hitter. I had the same feeling on the MK this year and passed on it due to the price increase.
For the price, it’s not even close to being a buy for me. Not that I haven’t paid $300 or more for other hard to find, allocated bourbons on the online sites, but I’m just not that big a Wild Turkey fan.
I could buy three of these for just one of my fly rods! What a great deal! If I could find three, well, I’d forego another fly rod to buy them. ❤ It’s capitalism, mate. Nobody cares if you’re not buying. They only care if enough people are. And people will. Because it’s that good. Bye bye.
It's discouraging when someone says to pay #300 for a bourbon, but then as an alternative lists a $55 bourbon. I don't think it's comparable in any way, but it just suggests that Single Rickhouse couldn't be that good.
Found several bottles of this at my local liquor store/bottle shop. They are charging $549 for this bourbon. No thanks. Went back home and had a pour of Russells reserve single barrel. 🥃👍🏻
Went into a local store yesterday just expecting to grab the usual shelf fare or a SIB Store pick, low and behold I see this bottle just sitting there. I look around like there should be a hidden camera. I grab it and take it to the register, SRP out the door. Bottle had been there almost 24 hours and no takers till I walked in. Really looking forward to drinking this one with friends. I have a WT Kentucky Spirit CNF that is SO GOOD.
$300 is always high for liquid, most of that amount is to have the best. Once you take the value of owning in to effect, it makes sense. Obviously if you are not a Wild Turkey fan, this is not for you. Why price it low and let them all go to 10 people for resale? I agree with the price, and if you aren't cool with the price, it is not for you.
lol yea Campari figured out some suckers are paying stupid prices for new craft distilleries so they are using their name recognition to jack up their prices. So much better whiskey out there for a quarter of the price of 300….. hard pass, I’m sure it’s really good, not doubting that but clearly the pricing is out of control.
Was able to try a pour of OF117, a 10yr Four Roses OESV and then this all back to back in Louisville earlier this month. Lemme tell ya…it wiped the floor with the latter and former. I hated that I liked it so much knowing I’d probably never find a bottle to purchase. A wonderfully bold and superbly balanced bird from WT.
Nice! Agree, this one has an awesome nose! My favorite so far, way out in front of the RR 13yr! However for an easy find and great price RR single barrels are hard to beat:) Cheers!
Just got a bottle of the Master's Keep Voyage, so I'm hoping I don't run across this bottle. Ha! These prices are not for the faint of heart, but I sure would love to try it!
Enjoy all your 🦃 content Jason! Hate that this bottle is good lol I enjoyed the fact last year's was overhyped. Curious how this compares to the Russell’s 13yr or some of your favorite K or S single barrel picks in a blind.
I didn't do it blind so obviously need to do that to truly know which I'd prefer but I opened the 2023 Single Rick Camp Nelson F today and compared it to the 2023 RR13 batch 5 and the nose and finish is hands down superior on the Single Rick. I LOVE that RR13 so it's pretty surprising to see a meaningful difference between the two so I'll need to revisit in the coming weeks and do a blind. 🥃🥃
Great review! I've had the chance to sample both the SR CNF & 13yr B2. They're both amazing in their own way & it really boils down to preference. The 13 yr. is more robust & engaging. On the other hand, the SR is more focused on balance & finesse. Value wise, 13 yr. is the clear winner but rabid RR fans will not mind the steep price of the SR for the blissful drinking experience it gives.
Not my wheelhouse...I've got a $70 pour limit, I'm sure your like a kid in a candy store...enjoy my friend. I have a Old Grandad 114 that I'll get to here in a bit.
The Consigliere at Campari have taken full control of pricing I see. I am boycotting Negronis for this! Can’t stop drinking WT though. It’s too damn good.
This whiskey will be known as WTF (Rickhouse). May say something about the price as well. Thanks for letting us know how F’d up this whiskey is (in a good way).
I just bought a Weller 12 for retail which is $39. No way I'd pay $300 for this. These international beverage groups like Campari are getting ridiculous with these prices for NAS bourbon. We did the blind between these two on Sunday. C923 is an unbelievable value at retail, but if you remove price and blind these two, CNF is better.
Another great review of a bottle that I will probably never see except in a museum 😎🥃👽
Youll never convince me a $300 bottle could be anything but low value.
