📽 📽 IN THIS WEEK'S VIDEO:
We blindly compare Bardstown Discovery Series #11 to Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse CN-F to see if either warrants their price tag, if either stands out as special, and to see which we prefer without the influence of knowing what we're drinking.

Disco #11 is discounted to $109 near me, which makes it a no-brainer.
Disco 11 is one of the very few bottles I actually got a backup bottle for. It’s that good
Same and I hate spending that much on a bottle.
Discovery 11 is the stuff.
Usually I’m team Erin, but vanilla bean is superior to French vanilla ice cream.
Josh was right
Also Vanilla Bean - no contest
Sorry Erin but Josh was just firing on all cylinders today 😆
It’s a rare occurrence, but it does happen every once in a long while. 😆
Sorry Erin, Vanilla Bean
Vanilla bean. I grew up with french vanilla and Hershey’s chocolate syrup. But then i was introduced to vanilla bean. Yum.
Sorry Erin…vanilla bean
Still watching the video, but vanilla bean all the way. Breyer's was the first one I had as a kid, loved it.
Best throw away comment "Is she Ted Lasso?" 😆
Glad somebody caught that one!
Bardstown Discovery 11 is damn good juice. $139.99 msrp here in VA. I recently went into an ABC store and they had 6 on the close out shelf. Walked out will all 6. Cheers 🤙🏻
Wow, I had really similar thoughts on these. I just killed my Bardstown #11, one of my favorite bottles I've ever bought TBH. Really trying to stop myself from buying a second bottle because of the price. I've tried CNF at a bar one time and it was the best finish I've ever had in a bourbon. CNF Didn't release in my state so thankfully I don't really need to make the decision on if I wanted to buy it or not. But if you caught me on a specific day, I'd prob be willing to spend it.
The knee jerk, off the cuff, saying Mash up. Classic Josh.
Great show! Cheers!
Brooo!!! That shit that hardens into the shell is valid af though! Great video once again.
I love Disco 11 and had RR I. Louisville and really appreciated it. I prefer 11 to RR13 because of the spice. Cheers you two!
Best intro EVER! 😂
You guys are the best thanks
I'm gonna say this before I see the outcome - Disco 11 is an absolute gem and I love the way that Josh described it as "lively" - I did a comparison with RR13 last night and had very similar impressions - but I gravitate to the liveliness and maybe boldness of the Disco 11 - and IT"S GETABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice review! Store owner friend sold me 2 disco 11 for 110.00 and 2 RR Rickhouse for 225.00 and they are both great pours! Vanilla bean has a nice strong flavor and French vanilla is creamy and smooth. Both have a place for me. VB with caramel or a little bourbon and FV plain or any sauce! Cheers
Congratulations on 20k subs btw, i just noticed that myself! Whoop whoop!🥃🥃🤘
Thanks so much!
Just got the disco 11 and haven’t cracked it. I do have a Kentucky Spirit CNF which I really enjoy. And it was $70.
You two are a delight.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words! 🥃
Good job y'all.
We want the ice cream with whiskey pairing special edition fun Friday video release! Please ;)
Omg vanilla bean is far far superior to any other vanilla flavor!
Vanilla Bean all day long - sorry, Erin.
I have found all 3 (BB Disco 11, RR13, RR CN-F) at a store that I really like, but both Russells were $150 over MSRP. I want to get those bottles, but I have really hard time pulling the trigger on $300 and $400 bottles. I opted for Disco 11 and I'm not mad at it - they really know how to blend at Bardstown.
Vanilla bean, no doubt!
100% Vanilla Bean
100%
Funny story about vanilla bean ice cream. I know someone who did a tour of a factory that makes vanilla extract. He noticed that there were 5 gallon white buckets that were filled with the seeds they strained out of the extract. He asked what they were doing with all the spent seeds. They said that ice cream makers buy them to stir into vanilla bean ice cream so that you can see the seeds in the ice cream even though they've had all the flavor extracted.
That’s wild!
100% vanilla bean
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎 words to my moms 😂
The RR Single Rickhouse is a bummer at such a high price. I had it included in a blind and I kind of insulted the person who gave me the blind when I said I'd pay no more than $75 for it. But that's the risk of a blind. Always enjoy your content 😀
Another reputable channel did a review of the Single Rickhouse and all three reviewers agreed that, "Not in a million years is it worth $300." It was said that Rickhouse's *quality* is equivalent to "a pretty good batch of Elijah Craig." So maybe you're not that far off in your $75 assessment; $75 is about what Elijah goes for.
I liked the Rickhouse a lot better but I did get a nice grape popsicle note on 11
I mean, Vanilla Bean by a mile…
Vanilla bean for sure.
Bean always
When Erin said “tea”, I knew you were working with Turkey, which I really, really enjoy 🥃 101 is always my base before blinds with friends. But she had me at “shortbread cookie”, yep, 11 is really good. Great video you guys 👊 Josh, love all the notes, excellent. And, you two have ruined me with the picks, really pissed at you both lol. The Middle West stuff is ridiculous 🙂 Happy for you. MY bar, not a whiskeytube chaser bourbon bar, is coming together. Represents me, you know? And you two, and a few others, are helping accelerate the journey and actually saving me money along the way. I encourage the support of this channel at any level, these are good people doing excellent work. Just one old man’s opinion.
Love this comment all around Mark! Cheers to you!
Vanilla Bean FTW!
Cotton candy flavors are all artificial - mostly malt flavoring for the sugary caramel and one of the strawberry components created from scratch. And personally Madagascar vanilla bean all the way. French Vanilla ice cream has eggs like a custard.
“Don’t get jeer-uh-deli…”
>>>Spousal Headsnap
😂😂
This little Bear refuses to go there.
Vanilla bean
Vanilla bean the vast majority of the time.
Final thing, I'm not sold that there is any Wild Turkey in that Bardstown. Beam and Turkey both make a 75/13/12 mashbill. Almost every discovery series has contained a healthy percentage of that bourbon. Most people were pretty adamant that it was sourced Beam for 1-5. I don't remember anyone claiming it was Turkey in 6,7,9 or 10. But for some reason, now it seems to be assumed it's from Wild Turkey? I think the most likely explanation is all the 75/13/12 that BBC bought came from one source (it's tended to go up in age in the newer blends) and there's just no way that Turkey (who rarely sells off stock) could have provided that much whiskey.
Disco 2 was wildly alleged to be Turkey, and Turkey does source out a fair bit of whiskey, but you are correct in that the vast majority of that mashbill at Bardstown Bourbon Co is Beam.
Camp Nelson F is a whiskey that has made me very mad. There's a in my neighborhood with a bottle and I've now how had it 4 or 5 times. I've tried it against Stagg, EHT BP, and a 9 year Willett Purple Top. It was better than all of them. I really didn't want to like it because the price of it is ridiculous, but it truly is one of the best things Bourbons I've had in a long time.
That’s my exact experience with Generations. Still trying to work my way into splurging on a bottle.
Josh did, indeed, call both "relaxed."
What!? Now I'm going to have to rewatch. 😂
Josh is right, Ghirardelli is 100% pronounced "gear-uh-delly"
Jira-deli and bean :)
thats Marys best
Erin and I don't agree on whiskey preferences but we do on French Vanilla!
just not paying $300
Mary is always right
sorry Josh - Disco 11 is two thumbs my man!!!!!!
you would regret not having this bottle in the future - guarantee that.
Team French Vanilla here! Loved the video of these two great pours!
bean
Wow, Hershey is the worst!
You’re not wrong, but it’s a childhood nostalgia thing.
Came for the whiskey, stayed for the rap battle😂🥃
Team French Vanilla, Sorry Josh.
But both very very good whiskies IMO. CN-F was actually my whiskey of the year. Not in a blind tourney tho. I’m Totally ignoring my significant Turkey bias in my rankings. Haha.
I love Erin's tasting notes. They are so wild and out in left field sometimes.
Erin has carte blanc and is always correct.
Team French Vanilla all the way, sorry Josh😂
French Vanilla
For sure
Knee-Jerk reaction! Thumbs up Disco 11. Never seen a Russell"s Rick House besides at secondary and that's a no.
French Vanilla.
French vanilla.
Sorry brother. Team French vanilla
I really like your channel and was an early sub. But I gotta say... I wish you guys could find a way to shift out of explaining yourself and your channel 5-6 times per video. I know that this might be someone's first S&W video, but hearing you guys explain that Erin doesn't want to spend a lot of money on whiskey or that everyone has their own palette and experience and blah blah blah... it is just very repetitive for those of us who watch your videos regularly. I like that you simplified the rating system and moved away from the graphics of thumbs a while back... I think it's time to streamline the review / explanation part and assume viewers have seen how you guys roll.
That’s fair critique. It’s always a balancing act to speak to new viewers or casual/infrequent viewers vs simply speaking to our regular audience and hoping newcomers catch on. Not sure there’s any way to make everyone happy all the time in that regard, but you’ve definitely given us some food for thought to consider how and when we deliver the info.
