- Triumph has been building modern retro motorcycle for more than most of us have been alive for. One of their most affordable motorcycles, the new BS6 Street Twin is a great example of what Triumph specialises in. The Street Twin rocks the amazing Bonneville 900CC HT motor which makes an amazing sound and packs some punch. Many people think that the new breed of Royal Enfield 650s like the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 have made expensive modern retro bikes irrelevant. But that's not the case. The Triumph Street Twin proves its worth, every single penny of it once you start riding it. Watch the video to find out how!

The fact that you keep bringing up the Royal Enfield Twins is a HUGE win for those motorcycles.
And why does he call them gt twins?
Also the Royal Enfield Bullet was launched in 1932 way before the triumph bonnie came in to the picture....and the rest as they say is history.... No doubt that street twin will be superior in the long run... But the price just makes it a dream for a lot of us mango people.... And hence at 1/³ the price enjoy the interceptor 650🙏

I know the T is 3 times the price in India, but in the UK T is 25% more £ but its at least 25% more bike. i have rode both and bought the Triumph. If I lived in India, yes I would buy the RE.

Nice review but please get your fax right. The RE’s (1905) have been since longer than Triumph(1983). Both the RE Twins (originally found in 1959) and the Triumph “Bonnie” (originally found in 1960) share what most enthusiastic motorists love and that is pure exuberance and thrill. Both share a distinctive class of their own. I own both and find them both interesting in their own accord. For a pure experience would recommend an INT650 without a wink but anyone wanting a little extra power the Street twin is good too but with engine heat which is a big negative. For the same price as the Bonneville, there are a lot more options out there but is a great bike to ride...

Can you tell what other bike you are thinking ? I just sell my continental GT 650 because of lack of torque and i'm looking at the street twin, do you think it's a good option ?
Triumph Street Twin comes under Super Bike category, hence comparing Triumph Street Twin with RE Interceptor is not appropriate. It is like comparing Maruti with Mercedes. I came from RE Classic 350 to Triumph Street Twin
RE Interceptor is more value for money just like Maruti, however someone who looks for well refined engine, high quality ride, butter smooth comfort experience and a SuperBike will opt for Triumph Street Twin just like Mercedes. The engine always has torque irrespective of any gear. Most refined engine, there are no vibrations. The rear view mirrors doesn't vibrate and clearly shows the vehicles approaching behind even at 160KMPH.
The price is high because of the premium quality parts used like (Few):
Front Disc Brakes: In RE Interceptor the front brakes are BYBRE (By Brembo) and in Tirumph Street Twin they are actually Brembo brakes (Highest quality in disc brakes, Brembo brakes are used in most of premium & sports bikes and sports cars like Lamborghini). The confidence you get from these brakes are extraordinary.
Seat: Triumph Street Twin comes with Alacantra geniune leather seat which cost Rs.25,000, one need to touch and feel the seat & the comfort it gives
Tyres: Tirumph Street Twin comes with Pirelli Phantom tyres (Radial) which costs around Rs.30,000
Engine Immobilizer: Bike can't be operated with duplicate key, has a sensor like in cars
Heated Grips: These are handy if you are travel is colder climate or northern part of India in winter
Because of the high quality products used the service internal is for 16000KM and annual maintenance will cost same as RE (RE service internal is for 3000KM only so 5x3000KM=15000KM)
I had recently done 2000KM+ ride in 5 day Hyderabad - Bangalore - Coorg - Chikmagalur - Hyderabad and the ride was fantastic. My other companion in the trip rode RE Interceptor which struggled to climb uphill in ghats.
There are few demerits too:
Low ground clearance - This is manage the gravitational force at higher speeds, all Super Bikes have low ground clearance (Manageable on normal roads, however challenging on rough terrain)
Engine Heating - One can feel the engine heating while the vehicle is stationary or struck in the traffic for long time, while motion you don't feel any heat (Again this is common for any high CC engines)
The greatness of the Triumph Street Twin can be better understood only if experienced.

You've some point mate. The feel good factor is there in Street twin. But some points you've noted wrong. The front disc of the interceptor is Brembo. Only the callipers are bybre. And pirelli phantoms are there in re too. And service interval is not 3000 km. It's 10000 km and 1 year. And when i rode street twin, it wasn't feel butter smooth. In fact my interceptor was smoother than street twin. I have bs6 one. But yeah, other points you've stated well. Like the triumph has more torque. But re has already more than enough. And the quality of the triumph is exceptionally good.
Major point on why triumph is expensive is that it's a ckd unit.. Int 650is made in India... Rest quality makes its presence felt... Int is also a very good machine at 1/³ the cost... 🙏
Re 650 twin comes with Pirelli Phantom sportscomp tyres (Radial) too , only difference is RE has 130/70 section tyres and Street twin has 150/70

Actually the thing is definitely triumph is a better bike but it’s not justified it’s price in front of gt or Int650 . The value for money things are missing. those are brought the Street twin before int650 lunch I personally feel that sometimes they regret also. If any one doesn’t have budget issues there is no point of discussing all this things. It’s actually a comparison between luxury and necessities.
To understand that class , you have to live it first , no way the GT twins can take em down.
Please dont bring nationalism here...RE are good bikes..just because they are indian we cannot say they are better..it is what it is.. they lack quality which cannot match the triumph..ofcourse am aware they are less priced.But triumph has its position
It's pointless to compare street twin with gt 650. After all, triumph is way more costlier because of its quality. It's at a different level. RE 650 twins are really good bikes as well. But never a replacement for triumph. Or maybe u can say it as retro bikes less costlier, with compromised quality than triumph yet good bikes

Slight bit of mods on the interceptor and it can look just as good. Some people will still prefer the simplicity and true retro looks of it I prefer the slightly modern retro looks of triumph.
RE650 would cost 3.25L...then you can factor in upgrades like alloys, better tyres, exhaust and booster plug which will easily add upto 4.5L after adding man hours and days lost in tuning out ... Street twin then costs almost twice for which you get bigger engine, liquid cooling and long service intervals displaying higher tolerance for tuning...also obvious things like quality and ergonomics seems about right....i guess with some great bike exchange prices in house or great offers would bring the difference down further...Its costly for sure but seems about right in big picture

3 times the price of. A 650 RE twin.....plus higher maintainence.....when you put 2+2 things will fall into place....rest is personal choice always
I don't know the answer but,does the Triumph incur import taxes as not being made in India?where as the RE is made in India so can be sold at a lesser price.
@@morini500dave they are imported via Thailand where the plant is.
...yes import duty is there but due to trade aggrement with Thailand it's not as high as say a CBU directly from say Japan...that's most manufacturers ship it via thailand

The price in Holland for the RE is 8200 euro and for the Street twin 10800 euro!That is here not 3 times more expensive!

Interceptor is lower cost version of street twin. It can't match quality levels and never rides like street twin. But Value for Money factor is very high in Interceptor. This is killing ST and making triumph to think about placing ST between 5-6 lakh exshowroom.
You said all the modern classic bikes took inspiration from the Bonneville. Than tell us what the others were supposed to look like? All classic bike had round head lamps and similar design characters. Triumph Bonneville is showpiece kind of bike. But if someone give me 10 lakhs and ask me to choose, i would definitely choose RE 650 twins anyday because the price gap is so huge that it doesn't justify the price tag now. Specially after the launch of re twins.

You gotta ride one of these bikes , once you ride it you will know if it’s worth 9l or not. The torque the uncontrollable power is unmatched and no RE bike can match it even with mods on. It has that big price tag for a reason mate. Ride one bonnie you will forget about RE😌😌
@@nishantkhare4527 then you gotta ride one RE 650 first. I don't say anything just see the Stuart Fillingham's channel. He explained everything. And it's not unmatched at all. Yes if that's a 1200 cc Bonnie, then yeah it's twice the engine size of REs. So it's obvious that's gonna be way more powerful. But the 900s, naahhhh.
@@akinsonsharma7530 obviously I have tested the re650 Bonnie feels more powerful more comfortable more low end torque suspension is awesome gears are way more smother the instrument cluster is way better the exhaust is better positioned the sound of the bike is obviously better than re the build quality the paint the rims the clutch Everything is better than what re offers

These years we get so much techie and power for relatively lesser money. But RE are better than these. Triumph is inspired from the RE and they started this way back a century
All is well.. but the console is outdated in twins unlike RE started updating their cockpit in all basic models. They must understand the Indian market, at this price points these are least expected by us.

A masterpiece, alas not in my budget nor in my requirements list .

Not at all value for money when the RE Twins are around !! May be a price cut on this entry level bike may bring it back in competition.
Somebody putting on here that triumph is not as old as royal enfield, they are prob right. But putting triumph down as founded in 1983 because they went bust for a while, is too dismiss their history and all those glorious bikes from 1901 onwards. Play the game mate.

It's retro bike. And they have keep down the cost. You don't necessarily need twin breaks for front to this bike. It's got brembo and that would be enough.

RE twins already killed this bike, more over twins have 6 speed transmission but the power & torque on this bike is something WOW..
Majority can't afford this. So from the number of selling perspective RE will remain in dominant position.
But quality matters to them who can afford it.
@@indiancitizen4334 REs quality is shit. My brother God thunderbird and his handel was broke into two pieces because of deep pothole. Bikes is rusty and removing puncture is such pain in the ass for 650 twins. This bike is class apart from RE. RE will never be like triumph ever.
