This bike gives me scrambler vibes but more road style. like the type of bike you can take around corners and something you could push the limits on without feeling too uncomfortable. It's one of them bikes where you could take it offroad if you really felt the need to. I agree with the whole retro mindset of just having a *bike* No specifics just a *bike*. Wanna go on a nice Sunday ride? take the bike. Wanna take the green lanes? take the bike. Wanna tour around England for a few days? take the bike. A kind of do-it-all type of bike (obviously not by today's standards but you get the idea)
Its the main reason i swapped my speed triple, to a street twin. It looks beautiful (imo) and its just a can do it all. You feel like you're going fast without going fast, and i find myself hopping on the twin much easier for errands than i did with the speed triple. I wanted an easy to ride bike, i could use to get around, get a coffee with the wife as a pillion, low maintenance, and would still provide that feeling of freedom.. This bike allows you to experience freedom
I rode a '69 Daytona (the 500 twin carb) for 30 years-- my dad gave it to me when it was already 10 years old and I was just 15. That bike was exactly what you describe, and this Street Twin is the spiritual successor of that bike. Except this has electric start and is probably a whole lot more reliable. Nevertheless, if you have to live with ONE bike, this might be it. My bigggest concern is the lack of a windscreen, and I haven't seen one that looks good on this model. That was the only thing I regularly disliked about my '69-- it was tiring to ride for long periods of time.
I have a 2016 model (55hp), I installed a street scrambler engine sump guard and handlebars on it (I had to modify the sump guard to fit but it was an easy fit), and yes you can go on easy green lanes on it with the right tires, on my model, there is also a method to disconnect the ABS by installing a switch instead of just removing the fuse, on the newer models I don't know but maybe it's possible too. It's like a do-it bike and its torque is addictive, the C/G is very low and surprisingly easy on slow-speed manoeuvring considering its weight, much better than my 2013 Honda cb500f that I had.
I’m thinking of one of these as my next ride. Do a lot of commuting so the narrow bars would be a bonus with filtering. What’s that helmet you’re wearing?
Test rode the street twin and the RE interceptor brought the interceptor as nearly £3k less then spent nearly £2k on mods, exhaust air filter booster plug suspension handlebars, etc Could have probably brought the triumph and left as is.
Got series 2(as in this vid). Longer legs than first gen, more performance across the rev range. Very addictive bike, well put together. Haven't had any issues in the 20mnths I,ve owned it. The fuel cap is fine. I tried the Royal Enfield, for its looks and price, but its performance is a bit too average and the build quality was down on the twin. But a great effort by Enfield, . And nice bike. Have to say tho'the new Trident has got me interested, looks like good value.
I have a 2015 air cooled bonneville (865, 17in wheels). I tweeked it with new bars/mirrors but the rest is pretty fine as stock. Only the older clock with all the warning lights to one side of the dial genuinely angers me :D it is a fugly asymmetrical piece of anti-design, probably give it a D-minus maybe even an F at old GCSE grade - truly appalling haha. Glad they fixed it on the street twin.
Had mine from new since 2016 and love it. Fuel tank is too small and btw rotate the chrome disc on the cap for the lock. You can get a different Triumph seat which I find a bit taller. Biggest issue is the finish on nuts and bolts, injector covers etc is not great and corrodes too easily. Very easy to live with day to day and economical too. Not perfect but what is?
I know some fuel gauges tend to take an average of x amount of secs (up to 1/2 minute), to prevent fuel gauges that either jump between bars, or lights that go on and off again every time you accelerated. That might be the case with Triumph and being somewhat slow to show that you filled him up ?
There Is a few bikes I would like to own but no single bike can beat what my 2 can for me. I really mean for me not everyone else that's their deal, I have happy with my 2 can they cost a lot less than even this bike. (Also really not in the budget...yet)
@@spicy110 Yeah that's understandable. Is there any that stand out for you? maybe like a specific bike you loved every second of riding or maybe one that caught you off gaud and enjoyed more then you thought you would? (not sure if you've already answered it in a Q&A)
Great bike, though I do prefer the Bonnie range to the Street. I can't wait for you to try the new 1200 Scrambler, that thing is sexy and I think will suit you really well
There's several forts in the area. One has been converted into a museum. Definitely worth visiting if people ever visit Portsmouth. royalarmouries.org/venue/fort-nelson/
Yes 👍🏽 I just got a Speed Twin 900 as my 1st motorcycles 🏍️. It is absolutely awesome, I am 45 years old, 5ft 7inches. This motorcycle has Great 👍🏽 Ergonomics to sit and drive High Torque which makes it FUN to drive Easy to handle Superb Sound better than the 1200 Best Looking
I don`t know ,the RE is a 650 not a 900 .Work it out on a £/cc basis and they work out pretty similar. 65bhp vs 47bhp ,more torque a lot lower down for the Triumph. Same weight for the RE (how?). 4 pot Brembo on the ST. I`d still take the Triumph. I test rode an Interceptor and was underwhelmed. I finally chose a V7 Moto Guzzi ,new at £6,500 and that made the Interceptor a non starter for me.
BillyCaspersGhost I test rode the Triumph Street Scrambler (same bike) & the RE. Found the RE had hit the nail on the head with the design brief; an uncomplicated retro-styled twin 👌🏻👍🏻 With the Triumph you’re paying a couple of grand for the badge unfortunately... I don’t dislike Triumph, not at all I just think the RE suits this segment better. The V7 is a nice bike too, but it didn’t float my boat. It would be a very boring world if we all liked the same thing though eh? 🤷🏻♂️👍🏻
@@cloggsy1971 Sure ,that`s the way of it ,variety is the spice of you know what. Just don`t see the extra money is only for a name when the Triumph has 250 cc and 18 bhp more. A 900 will not cost the same as a 650 Per cc the RE costs more. Crude measure but there it is.
@Bun Bun I don't really see any difference between the z900rs and any of the triumph Bonneville Range, both modern water cooled engines imitating air cooled classics
The Bonnevilles seems like good riding machines, maybe not sport bikes, or touring bikes, but GOOD riding machines so you enjoy the ride.
I brought the EC1 special addition last April and I still love it to bits my first bike in 30 years and done about 3300 miles from new
Got it 2 week back.. does feel very refined and smooth.. loving it.

British ?
@@user-rf9me7xm1w Yes British designed Thailand built to Brit standards

Massive issues with wiring looms on the Triumphs ,my street twin complete new harness at 1200 miles . Even the 2020 models same problems .
Great video could you do a road test on a triumph speed twin stay safe looking forward to next one 🇬🇧👍🏻
I second that.
My dreambike 😃
Which triumph model has the best sounding stock pipes?
Nice bike ,had nice day on Hayling yesterday
My go to bike when i pass my test any info is most welcome
Does this model have the cruise control?

My Bonneville is the same - fuel cap doesn't lock. Always makes me paranoid.
My cap street twin cap locks.. there is a rotating metal circle over the keyhole ;)
Hey buddy. What gloves do you recommend for winter that are waterproof. Nothing to expensive as limited funds 😉😉

You can do everything you’re doing on that on a Royal Enfield Interceptor for £2/£3,000 cheaper... Quality bit of kit but too expensive IMHO?!
