Thanks so much for putting this guide together. I've been looking to put together a "Lights Out" Darkness team comp and an 11/1 Beastmaster / Cleric is exactly what role I had no experience with.
Wish I'd seen this build on my first playthrough! I was a beast master ranger that used dire raven but was struggling to keep up with the rest of my party around 10 and multiclassdd into fighter the last couple levels. Didn't know animal companions had such a big break point at 11
Check out the wiki page. Lots of useful info in just a few steps if you check just the entries for races and classes. Then you can just respec in game and experiment as you wish
A solid character, although I think it gets beaten out by other builds. Sadly you can't use special arrows at the same time as volley. So a melee hunter ranger might be stronger, but also harder to consistently get enemies around you. And I believe the war cleric bonus action attack lets you use whirlwind/volley so worth the 1 level dip for that I think!

Glad it helped! I have a trickery cleric and mortal reminder warlock build on the channel that also make great use of darkness

Yeah the ranger power spikes are really important and at weird levels! I spend many hours going through the wiki thinking about this stuff haha

If you are playing balanced or tactician can it make sense to take the 1 level cleric dip earlier?
I follow you build but my beastmaster cant shoot arrow within darkness (while you have the advantages) dont know why
