Man, hearing Jocko makes me miss my dad. My dad overcame every illness he had, until the cancer got him. Over the course of 20 years since his eardly 30's until his early 50' he went through a lot. Went through two heart attacks, and survived; then through a coronary artery bypass surgery , and survived,;then went through a stroke, and survived; then went through a major stroke and had to relearn to walk talk and eat. He went through all this and recovered each time, not 100%, but enough that he can be autonomous. He never doubtet he would get better. RIP dad.
I hope someone’s sees this. This kept me alive. This made me move forward. This inspired me from a position that seemed impossible. I’m writing this to a world of people that are probably in my position. These are the words we need to hear

Being a father of three there was huge pressure and I felt like a loser and worthless. There were dark moments, where I contemplated suicide. I literally looked around my house and weighed my options for doing. I would cry on the floor of my living room while my family slept. But somehow I pushed through, with the help of friends, family and videos like these. Almost a year later, by never giving up and seeking advice. Sharpening my job seeking skills and improving my resume I finally landed a job and started this Monday. I feel you my man, but do not give up! The dawn comes after the darkest hour.
@@stonebud Thanks, but that is not what I did. I did not talk about my success, but my struggle. When I had lost my job and was three months unemployed a friend shared his story. How he could not get employed, how he lost most of his savings...but it did not last forever. He got another shot and is doing really well. This encouraged me. Trying to relate and letting someone know they are not alone in going through struggles is not “making it about myself”. If that is how they perceive it sure I will say my apologies. For you, I will just politely say, I disagree with your assertion.

At a certain moment in his life, the idea came to him of what he called ‘the love of your fate.’ Whatever your fate is, whatever the hell happens, you say, ‘This is what I need.’ It may look like a wreck, but go at it as though it were an opportunity, a challenge. If you bring love to that moment - not discouragement - you will find the strength is there. Any disaster you can survive is an improvement in your character, your stature, and your life. What a privilege! This is when the spontaneity of your own nature will have a chance to flow.

I lost my job in December. I said GOOD, recalibrated and reloaded. Got an interview the NEXT day and got it. Way better pay, worklife balance, and work environment too. I've been promoted 2 times already and just landed a management position. I'd call that GOOD.
I’m a teacher, and am currently working with a student with “bad” challenges. Each morning, on our own, we’re going to watch this video for a week. We’re going to share our reactions. He’s locked 🔒 in on the negative, but also can’t face it. My dream is that this will start to shift our mindset. We can effect change through our focus.

Just wanted to say that your videos have changed my life. I’m from the UK and have struggled deeply with depression up until 5 months ago when I first saw your videos. My OCD made it difficult to grapple with problems but it was your videos which kicked me up the arse to adapt my mindset to embrace struggle and uncomfortable situations which has allowed me to find freedom. I can now control my OCD by exposure therapy. Not only that, today I managed to overcome my claustrophobia by going caving the first time, the anxiety I felt before going damn near kept me up for 2 days and I felt like quitting several times but your words helped me pull through and now I feel free from that fear by embracing it. Your courage inspires me everyday and hearing about your experience as a Navy Seal has left me in awe of all of those serving for their country today. Thankyou Jocko.
The thing that changes is your perspective and your attitude. You’re not able to change the failure, but your able to pivot your attitude to a positive one and keep trucking to make a more positive future. This has helped me and my fiancé with our first born child while she was struggling with slight depression. She continued daily to change her outlook on her day and it truly has helped us thank you jocko!

I referenced this at my grandpa’s funeral today, and I got a lot of “thank you” comments after. I said, “Death is sad, and I miss him. But the GOOD is that he’s not in physical pain anymore, and he’s with my grandma again. Focus on the good in a situation, and you won’t have time to focus on the bad.” I admit, I cried when I said this. But I meant it. Every single word of it.
Anytime im going through a hard time or unfavorable shituation, I always come back to this and it helps recalibrate and get shit done. I send this to all my people going through it. Good shit
It's Saturday night. I'm lay in a hospital bed. On Monday I had my lower left leg amputated after a motorcycle accident a few years back that I didn't heal from. This whole week I've been using the furniture in this room to lift and curl and press. I've attached resistance bands to my bed and I've been doing laps of the ward as fast as I can in my wheelchair. There are no negatives here. The phantom pains have kicked in today. They're savage, but I'm just smiling and accepting it because I know that I win in the end. They're here now, but they won't last. I will. All is good.

I hadn't watched this in years until today. But about 5 days ago, when checking out a new place to live the person showed me the bathroom and mentioned there's no hot water heater. I thought "Good, no choice for a warm shower". That's how much this video has lodged itself into my subconscious 🥋

I got fired from my job. I Walked into this next job asking for an Interview *8 times* before I got hired. This job is 100x better than the last. *Good* thing I got fired.
This year: - my wife left me (good, now I have the opportunity to meet the person I'm supposed to be with and it taught me to appreciate people whilst they're in my life) - I didn't get the training contract I applied for at work (good, now I'm clear that I must take the alternative path to qualify as a lawyer) - my nan died (good, now she's at peace and no longer has to battle every day just to eat and speak and not fall over. Also my mum no longer has to work herself to death as a carer every day) - I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and it caused adult acne to appear all over my face and head and I went temporarily blind and my feet swelled and were agony (good, now I know that I'm allergic to that drug and I appreciate my sight and my health more. It also forced me to go about life interacting with people whilst self-conscious about my appearance) I'm still alive. Not broken or beaten but strangely feel stronger than ever. Good.
This is the mindset that you have to have once you accept the truth the reality of the situation. I found out that I had parkinsons disease at 37. That was 8 years ago I could sit and let it rule me or fight every day and go until I can't. I choose option 2. I know how the story ends but I'll be damned if I don't go without a fight. I've promoted twice to Lt. and I've become a better husband, son and friend.

My entire life fell apart a year ago. A total multisystem failure. A grand implosion. All my dreams, all my fears, shot out of the sky alike. I thought it was the worst thing that could have ever happened to me, but it wasn’t. It was good. It was the best thing that could have happened to me. I’m now 100lbs lighter, I live somewhere better, my relationships are more meaningful, and my new goals are grander. It was so good.

Maybe if they would spend less time watching and playing video games and concentrate on something to truly improve themselves, they would get it. I'm not perfect, I know that, been there a long time, pay's not great but the hours are wonderful, but I know I am not great but I continually try to improve myself.
I think the "Good" mentality is very powerful for a number of reasons. The first is that it's tied to such a simple word that everyone can understand. Second, the delivery is savage and automatically gets you in that mind-state of capitalizing on whatever challenges you may face. It's the gritty version of "look at the bright side". Well done.

I use Final Cut Pro and have used one of those graphics. It could very well be part self made, part from a graphics package. Either way it’s way past my pay grade at the moment. Huge props!
This has literally become my weekly mantra now, for the past 3 month now. I first came across this video and Jocko a few years before, which, then, I would come back to this vid every once in awhile. But now, I always come back to this, week in and week out, sometimes once a week. Sometimes once every other day. When I first watched this video I was over 400 pounds. 402 to be exact. That was 18 months ago. Today I walked into the gym wearing a shirt with Jocko’s face on it and the word “Good” underneath it at 229 pounds. Every lift, every set…I’d look at my reflection in the mirror. Just wanted to say that your videos have changed my life. I’m from the UK and have struggled deeply with depression up until 5 months ago when I first saw your videos. My OCD made it difficult to grapple with problems but it was your videos which kicked me up the arse to adapt my mindset to embrace struggle and uncomfortable situations which has allowed me to find freedom. I can now control my OCD by exposure therapy. Not only that, today I managed to overcome my claustrophobia by going caving the first time, the anxiety I felt before going damn near kept me up for 2 days and I felt like quitting several times but your words helped me pull through and now I feel free from that fear by embracing it. It's Saturday night. I'm lay in a hospital bed. On Monday I had my lower left leg amputated after a motorcycle accident a few years back that I didn't heal from. This whole week I've been using the furniture in this room to lift and curl and press. I've attached resistance bands to my bed and I've been doing laps of the ward as fast as I can in my wheelchair. There are no negatives here. The phantom pains have kicked in today. They're savage, but I'm just smiling and accepting it because I know that I win in the end. They're here now, but they won't last. I will. All is good.

- my nan died (good, now she's at peace and no longer has to battle every day just to eat and speak and not fall over. Also my mum no longer has to work herself to death as a carer every day)
- I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and it caused adult acne to appear all over my face and head and I went temporarily blind and my feet swelled and were agony (good, now I know that I'm allergic to that drug and I appreciate my sight and my health more. It also forced me to go about life interacting with people whilst self-conscious about my appearance)
I'm still alive. Not broken or beaten but strangely feel stronger than ever. Good.

Maybe if they would spend less time watching and playing video games and concentrate on something to truly improve themselves, they would get it.
