If you really like the sound of those speakers I would bypass the 4.7uF tweeter capacitor with a Miflex KPCU-01 0.022uF 600Vdc (as me with my modded KEF Q100 5.25" coaxial) or similar Copper Foil Paper / Polypropylene in Oil Capacitor from others as Jupiter, Duelund...
Hi guys. I know I'm off topic but had to share this. I have the Fosi Bt 20 amp. The stock op-amps are junk. I swapped them for Muse 02 with great improvement. But then on HiFi Zone suggestion I tried OPA828. OMG! The difference is just wonderful. Not in the high end but the base and mid base. I listen to a lot of jazz where the bass is under the mix. With 828 the bass becomes very distinct. Every note is tight and defined, very smooth. It's hard to believe such a small chip makes so much difference. Run, don't walk to the 828. I haven't tried discreet yet but for the money i'm not sure I need to.
if you change that iron core inductor for an air core inductor (1mm wire minimum) you will get less distortion and more clear midrange, the speaker looks nice so why not
I would actually get rid of that metal core inductor first. When driven hard thats going change the sound the most. Aircores from Ali is actually cheap and good.
These are expensive speakers when they finally grt good 😂. The lack of dampening, low quality cables, parts ++. I do see the fun of making something better though
Great video! I do have a question.. Why didnt you change the 18uf for a mkp? I wouldnt want any elco in my crossover 😅 I dont have any theoretic knowledge but my ears always agree with mkp😜
You mean the new caps? 10usd. Speaker cable I already had in my drawer, but finally I've not replaced stock wiring. Maybe in future I will get back to this :)
@matytinman no man, not at all! I listen to classical music, jazz and so on and I like hearing it live on stage. I like buying "high-end" sound for non-"high-end" money, but that's an almost impossible task. But with some of the equipment that Tom has shown here on his channel you can do that. BUT not with all of them (for example these speakers here 😆 ). It's like an old car. You can buy it cheap and spend a lot of money and get it roadworthy or you can just buy a new or newer car for the same money... It's everyone's own decision 😇 and everyone has their own ears. There is no such thing as a HI-FI guru because everyone hears differently and every room sounds different.
@@hcr2ligna83I was in the industry selling high end speakers back in the late 70's and early 80's. I bought these speakers a little over a year ago along with a matching subwoofer. They are great. I'm going to spend all $10 that he recommend to do the upgrades.
Thanks for sharing! The cabinet looks decent but the rest of the components are about what I expected. Cool video!

Looks like you've got the HF and LF x'over o/p strapped together in the schematic?
