- Within hours, Hurricane Milton "explosively intensified" from a Category 2 storm to a powerful, major Category 5 hurricane. While it's forecast to bring dangerous conditions to Florida and the Tampa Bay area, Milton is expected to weaken before reaching landfall sometime midweek.
Milton came on the scene on Saturday as a tropical storm. Early Monday morning, Milton kicked off a rapid intensification starting as a Category 2 storm. By noon, the storm had strengthened to a large Category 5 hurricane, the National Hurricane Center said.

I'm in Spring Hill. Shopping for stuff today was insane. Traffic was nuts, gas is either sold out or lines super deep. Grocery stores packed. People are nervous as hell. I feel bad for the folks in Hernando Beach. I drove through after Helene last week and every single house had tons of debris at the curb from the surge damage.

One "good" thing about this hurricane is that it is a cat 5 over the gulf and cat 5's are small storms in area, much like a black holes captures everything, a cat 5 will capture everything near the eye. As long as you can avoid the eye is the key... Be safe.
The forecast say that the hurricane will grow in size at landfall creating 15 feet devastating lifethreatening flood. Evacuate!
What they didn’t say is that it is supposed to expand to encompass a much larger swath of Florida as it deescalates from a 5 to a 3. Still massive flooding for the entire Tampa Bay Area if it hits where they’re saying. I know…I lived there for a long time.

Just spoke to a maintenance worker from Pinellas county and he says there is no more room for any more debris. So our neighborhood has 50 ft wide by 20 ft tall debris fields. We are only 2 mi from the Gulf and Dunedin Florida..
All the dunes are already gone.
We def need more funding for fema. Ask your Congress person to push a vote on it. These storms will be more frequent and stronger as the gulf waters get warmer.
