This episode brought me to tears.
It reminded me of my time WOOFing on the Big Island in Hawaii a few years ago and the many lessons I've learned. WOOFing is when you volunteer and work on a farm in exchange for food and shelter. The Hawaiian people's reverence for the Aina and the deep spiritual and ancestral connection they have with the earth is a powerful reminder of who we are and what we should do. Aina translates to "land, soil, dirt," but it also means, "that which feeds," and it is an intrinsic part of Hawaiian culture.
I love love love this episode so much. In these trying times where politicians are denying climate change and everything seems hopeless, when all we can focus on is the negativity and the many ways in which we are depleting Mother Earth of her magnificence and abundance, this video brought me to tears because it's exactly what we need to see. People restoring the connection between us and the earth. It reminded me of what I need to do. They said it said well in the video, "it's not about what happened, but what you're going to do about it. It's about how you're going to create change."
    With my utmost gratitude, mahalo.

idk what happened, I am sitting here watching this, then they all sang and ate together, and now I am just crying. Nothing was sad here, but almost feel mournful for what we have lost as humans. I am literally about to quit my job making maps and go become a farmer because this stuff just feels right. Working hard to just live, that is how we got this far in the first place.

Cooking ia absolute baller only when you cook at home.
Work wise, depends on how frequented the Restaurant is you're working in.
If you don't have to stress it, it's baller.
If the Restaurant is full, it can turn into Hunger Games: Kitchen Version pretty fast.

A nice gesture, and one I'm all for, but frybread, which has its origin with the Navajo, not the Sioux, is the end result of the Navajo being displaced from their homeland and supplying them with government-issued food stuffs. (If I burst your bubble, I do apologize.)

My mom works as a dietitian for a local tribe in Louisiana, it's a small one but still federally recognized. Whenever the health clinic at the tribe would put on health events for the community I would go with her and help her/volunteer. It's absolutely amazing and I am in awe of Native American culture. I love their language. They speak their language very fluently but unfortunately it's at risk of dying out. Their language is so beautiful. And yes there is an old lady who makes fry bread and it is delicious. It's horrible that it has such tragic origins but I still believe it should be respected as one of their dishes, even with its tragic origins.
