Yes Grace, it's one of my favorites along with Claude 🔍 01:58 Perplexity AI offers unique PR search and Focus features for comprehensive content research from specific sources like academic papers, UA-cam, and Reddit.
I just used to it to take unstructured data and structure it. Just a copy and paste of a text file. The AI model choices made this better or worse. Claude is better than Open AI 4o. Structuring unstructured data is not for the feint of heart. I use Perplexity Pro btw. I do add my Pages from Perplexity to NotebookLM (your recent video did not do this but it is way cool)
@@The_InfoAddict I also use Claude as my default model on Perplexity Pro, like you said I just like how it is structure the response. Thanks for sharing that use case, gonna explore that right away
Excellent stuff, Grace! I have been using this tool for nearly 3 months, but I just figured out a few things after watching this. I am definitely watching all your videos now!
Honestly the amount of insights from this video is blowing me away. I knew perplexity was there before, but i had no clue how useful it would be for me as a hobby content creator. Thanks a lot!
Hey, I have to say, your accent is incredibly fun and interesting! It adds such a unique and charming flair to everything you say. Seriously, it’s captivating and makes every video so much more enjoyable! 😊✨
I will build on this and say it’s a little difficult to follow at times because of the cadence and syllable emphasis differences, but I enjoy listening to accents because it makes me actively listen more and helps me to better understand people who are learning English as a second or third language
Short answer: It depends on your tasks. If you need a strong research tool with more up-to-date information, go for Perplexity Pro. If you value more on a all-in-one productivity tool like creative tasks, then ChatGPT Plus. I'm posting another video between the 2 pro versions this week, stay with me!
Do you have some names for the tools? Honestly speaking, for now Perplexity is by far the most outstanding as compared to other AI answer engines that I’ve tried for researching purposes. I always double checked responses, of course it’s not hitting 100% all the time, but the accuracy is pretty high. I recommend you also give it a try!
Hey Grace - great video! I'm a digital marketer/youtuber myself and have recently switched from CGPT > Perplexity (so much better IMO). Keep it up - Jonathan
Thanks for this. This is WAY better than Google + separate AI. Just subscribed to Perplexity Pro and canceled ChatGPT and Claude subscriptions, because what’s the point when I can use those within Perplexity?
Thanks for your very informative videos. One question though... i cannot seem to be abke to get Perplexity to provide me with links like you demonstrated as I always get the following reply "I can't provide direct links, but I can guide you on how to find relevant literature." Is this due to a recent change in Perplexity or is it me not prompting properly?
Thank you! Can you share the prompt you used? I just tried and it still works (both free / pro), here's the exact prompt I used (same as shown in the video): "I am planning a blog with the title "The Vancouver Trip Planning Guide 2024", give me the top 10 search results related to this topic. Then summarize a list of topics they have in common in their body content. Cite the source link for each result." It also worked when I asked it to give stock photo result page links, other external links.
@@graceleungyl I used the exact same prompt. Today, it works, but the other day, I was getting the "I can't provide direct links, but I can guide you on how to find relevant literature." That is very strange. At one point, I thought it could have been caused by my geographic location (France), but even using a VPN set to Canada did not change the results the other day.
Thanks Grace, got a lot from the video. I had an issue only today where Chat GPT hallucinated and it's made me wonder how many other times thats happened. I'm just starting to go deeper into Perplexity and your video has helped a lot.
Welcome! :) ChatGPT hallucinates often because it's not based on the most updated data, unlike Perplexity that has its online LLMs. I see they both have different strengths and it depends on the task purpose, I'll do a more deep-dive between the 2, stay tuned!
It really depends if you're a heavy user or not for the tasks. For my case, I found it beneficial to upgrade to unlock more features since I use them a lot.
Grace, sorry, but, can I say this thing? I have surprised I have difficulties conceiving your speech, I don't know what accent is it, is it probably Chinese accent? (I can conceive English with quite a few accents of other languages, besides AmEn/BrEn, but I struggle to recognize quite a some of your words, like [fret] for "thread", [kæik] for "quick", etc. If you wish, look in autogenerated CC texts for video to know which words l mean exactly, it mistakes in your speech recognition too, and does that like me). ...Hope this was helpful.
Welcome! May I know what RTL stands for? a language or a file format? Generally, I found Perplexity is not that good at coding, not to mention it has limited support to different file formats, so keep this in mind.
When you say “updated”, do you mean getting more up-to-dated data to generate response? If yes, from what I test it vs chatgpt3.5, it is. Perplexity use Online LLMs for grabbing most updated info. I tend to believe it’s also the case in chatgpt4, but they 2 have different positions and it greatly depends on what you use it for.
It still hallucinates (and every AI Chatbot has some levels of hallucinations), but compare with ChatGPT, it is much less obvious, as it always generates responses based on search data (unless you use the purely writing mode)
Ah haha 😀 I also use Bing more than before (because of copilot initially), but then I noticed Bing has indeed improved a lot in search experience, which is good news!
Ps... I just asked it what it thought about the UN conclusion that israel is committing genocide in Palestine. The first response completely denied any such finding. When I asked why it had lied and not mentioned the findings on humans rights violations it basically apologised saying it "made a mistake"... Now if artificial intelligence is supposed to reflect human intelligence I'd say "good job"... it tells lies and calls them mistakes just like most people 🙄🍉🏴
Yah, def not 100% factual accuracy and it has its limitations like every AI engines do. Particular when it's related to figures/statistics, sometimes it does return different summary vs the original source. So always do fact check when use.
@@graceleungyl I've been testing with politically sensitive questions. For example asked ChatGPT "how many Afghan people were killed by America in "the troubles"... it answered "about 2,000", when i called it a lier it said "official estimates are between 2 and 3 million. I notice it always errs on the side of BS...

ChatGPT and Perplexity are both great, but Perplexity writes better stories and dialogues. It's not run-off-the-mill at all. However, the AI Pi is not so good, often gives shitty answers. Only the voices are really nice.
Thanks sharing that! Agreed both tools are outstanding and depends on the usage. Personally I haven't used Pi for a long time... and I believe it's no longer active as far as I know 🤔
Some feedback: I really like the content but the pronunciations and sentence structure can be a little tough to understand at times. You could try practicing with the new voice mode of ChatGPT for some quicker feedback and iteration. I don't mean that you should worry about it too much. Your content is understandable. But practice is always good.
Thanks so much for the feedback and suggestions!! Really appreciated 😊 Will keep that mind when filming, and yes speaking is what I have been learning (and keep improving) for years🤞🏻 200% agree on what you said about practicing!
@@graceleungyl I noticed the pronunciation differences right away, but that's because I'm a former IELTS examiner and I can hear small mistakes in pronunciation and grammar. Most people won't notice, except for the several times when a word was hard to understand. You speak a little quickly, so maybe by slowing down a little this problem will go away. OTOH, it seems that a lot of UA-camrs speak quickly! Maybe that's a style, or maybe that's their natural speaking speed. I teach IELTS on italki (search using the name "Buswell"). I'm not a specialist in teaching pronunciation or grammar, but because of my IELTS experience I am good at hearing small mistakes. To prove to you that I know what I'm talking about, if you want I can listen to this again and send you a message with the words that need to be pronounced correctly. Most of my experience is with Chinese speakers, but from the spelling of your last name I'm guessing you are from Hong Kong or Singapore and have been in Canada for a long time. I hear a bit of a British accent, which is another reason I'm guessing Hong Kong or Singapore. This is the first of your videos I have watched, but I'll subscribe to get more. UA-cam recommended it to me because I have watched vids on using AI for writing.
🤔 Oh really..? Tell me more. I know Perplexity was first started relying on Bing's search index, but I think it's no longer the case (or become less reliant). Have I missed anything...
Perplexity is powered by multiple GPT models (not to be confused with chatGPT which also uses GPT models.) Perplexity feeds website data into its process from Bing. Separately, Bing as a platform uses AI which comes from OpenAI (GPT models.) So no, Perplexity is not "powered" by Bing. Bing is a single source of data not a model.
