Love the string block, love the machine. ❤
My grandmother made all of my dresses on a treadle Singer when I was a child. She didn't have an electric machine until the 60's. Wish I had the space for one!
Love this 😮❤
This looks so fun. I can't wait to try it! The cottage looks amazing. Enjoy your time off grid.
OMG I have been stringing for years !!!! But never on paper let alone patty paper what an idea !!! I am also very good about saving my scraps !!! Love love to reuse them !!! When someone has a scrap project I light up like a X-Mas tree just to see what they are doing with their scraps !!!! I also have a cabin !!! I crochet or knit when up there !!! Thank you for sharing and caring !!!! Oh yeah just love your sewing machine !!! Soooo cute !!!🙌🏼👍🏿👏🏿👊❌⭕️🎈❣️🙏🏻😇😎😍💝🥰💖
HI it is Paul from the foot :) Just wanted to say hi. And that quilt is looking amazing. cheerful and fun.
Hey Paul!! Hope you are well!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! Love your little cabin and the block tutorial! I’ll definitely be making some of these blocks. Thank you for sharing!
Just subscribed to ur program. You have the sweetest personality & it’s just right for UA-cam.
Always fun to find a new presenter to watch. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
I always wanted a hand crank machine. You are lucky. But I do own several treadle so I have the love of those machines prefect stitching.
You can always add a hand crank to an old iron machine. I had one with a bad motor and swapped it out for a crank. It sews just as lovely!
Love it ❤
I, too own a hand crank sewing machine % it’s a Spartan/Singer 99. Thought I was crazy when I found it as I’m not the most coordinated person on the planet, but found out thst it’s very easy to manage! Haven’t used her for quite awhile but I think I just might start taking her to my guild sewing day! The Spartan machines never came with any kind of cover so maybe I need to make a cute one first!!!
Spartans are wonderful. I used to have one and then sold it....wish I still had it. Keep an eye out for my next video - it's going to be about a 99k - taking it from drab to fab! Thanks for watching!
Thank you. Enjoy the cabin ❤
COOL!!!
Just found you and I’m sooo happy! Love your string blocks. I sew scrappy and I’m always looking for something a little different. Great video!
Loved the video and the paper-pieced block! Ahhh, cabin life.
Hi! I plan to get my treadle sewing and working this summer. Loved your video. Subscribed!
Love your videos Sarah. Your presentation is perfect! Keep them coming!
Thanks for sharing your special space & some quilting tips! It looks awesome! Love the music!
Sarah you were made for You Tube. I remember when your mom taught in the shop. Please keep making videos you are wonderful.
I missed your demo at the retreat. Glad I was able to view it here.
Like your new intro! Looks lovely and peaceful there.
Wow. What a great idea making these blocks!!! I think I could use regular baking parchment paper. It doesn't have wax i checked. I'll cut my own squares. Thank you very much.
How did you film this without electricity?
Hello!! I use my iPhone, which is a battery. I have to wait until til I get home with WiFi and electricity to upload and edit the video.
How did you iron it without electricity? I saw an old fashioned iron on the counter❤
I had a sadiron on my woodstove! Not perfect, but not too bad. I realized when I was editing the video I mentioned an iron and didn't explain.
Reverse half the blocks would be pretty in that quilt also, right?
Yes!!
Hand crank machine is so cool! Why do you use the paper? Why not just sew the strips together???
Great question! You can....however because of the different size/widths of strips, it can be very challenging to create a square block without some sort of foundation. But feel free to experiment!!!! There's no 'one way' to do things!!
I was given a very old hand turn sewing machine as a child and have many happy memories of using it. Later, after serious illness, I took up patchwork ,eventually going on to teach patchwork for 25years. So many happy memories all starting from my little sewing machine.
What a waste
