After spending about an hour trying to find a video on this for my 09 explorer I finally found yours. Thank you.
Thank you. I was stuck on the parking brake trying to read the stupid Ford manual that is very outdated and doesn't tell me specifics for my 2006. So great thank you I appreciate that!
Great video! I am about to tackle this project and hope it goes just as smooth! 2008 Explorer. Biting the bullet and doing the other side as well so both rears have same mileage!
Good call. On mine i knew one was replaced about 5k miles before i bought it so I am close. When i did the front i replaced in pairs.
@@adamanderson8631 I did the fronts following weekend. Did shocks few weeks later. Wish I did them all at same time since it was that apart...... Live and learn. Rides like a new car!
@@EClass20 just got done replacing brake pads, now it's back on the jack stand again.. always happens..
Nice video. The Milwaukee 2862 cordless impact is one of my favourite tools. You were lucky with those three bolts in the back. It took a day of soaking in PB Blaster before the bottom one of the three bolts finally broke free. In the end I had to use the impact to alternately tighten slightly, then loosen. I'd never have gotten them free with just hand tools! Torque for the three bolts in the back is 200 ft-lbs, lower control arm bolt is also 200 ft-lbs, the toe link bolt is 240 ft-lbs, and the upper control arm bolt is 166 ft-lbs. The axle nut is 200 ft-lbs. Honestly, I don't know if I'd be able to get a torque wrench on the bolts in the back. I'll just use my impact driver. I'll definitely use the torque wrench on the axle nut though.
Came to the comment section while mine is soaking in pb blaster. Glad I’m not the only one with that problem
Gotta love that cheater bar :)
Harbor Freight sells a 2' long Pittsburg breaker for like $17.. I should send you one as I have 3 of them 😄
Nice work. Thanks for sharing
Where did you jack it up in the back? Is there a central point? Or did you just do it from both sides alternating from the side rails?
One of the best if not the best tube . THANK YOU
The abs sensor is now on I’m hoping it’s just dirt on the old sensor to new hub
Do you have a list of tools you used, wrench and socket sizes
Great video! I need to replace my rear wheel bearings and I think this will be an easier solution.
Very good UA-cam, watching from U.P. OF MICH. Thanks!!
How rusted and rough was that to get off lol?
Why didn’t you just change the bearing? They aren’t pressed in.
The rear assembly they are pressed in
Did you hear the noise all the time?or does it happen only at slow speed
I really didn't hear it in the car. I felt it, the car would hop when i turned left and i really felt it when towing.
@@adamanderson8631 I'm chasing a growling noise, only at low speed and when slowing down, like woowoo ,from 3mph to 40 mph, louder at low speed
@@steevegmtech7326eel it in the pedal? Had same issue , checked all wheel bearings all checked out good when jacked up , but when load was present it ended up being my front pass side , changed it for the hell of it and it was the issue, then 2 days later my transfer case died 😂
Blessings and great information and great work, but what’s the average price on a hub bearing and actually how long does it take to change a rear hub bearing on a 06 explorer God Bless
well if the hub assembly just pops apart, it's cheaper and easier, but that is one of the most MASSIVE IF'S of all time..
The Moog hub is $310. A New York shop gets $2300 to do the job + $$620 for the Moog part.
Blessings and already got that job done thank you much
you really need to have a jack stand and not just trust that floor jack when sticking your arm under the axle like that..
Any ideas for the back three bolts that aren’t coming loose?
WD-40 penetrant spray, leave it for a day.
Did you have to adjust the emergency brake?
Yes, it wouldn't hold as it was shipped. Also i did another video about the emergency brake, all the backing plate bolts backed out and destroyed the shoes. I would recommended putting lock tight on the backing plate bolts.
How do I change toe bar link from 15mm to 17. New knuckle is 17, but truck is smaller.
Did you have to get another toe link that's 17mm?
how long has the bearing assembly lasted so far?
Ford sploder is the ONLY car/truck I've ever had that the original brake pads OUT LASTED the wheel bearings..
Depends how you drive and where you drive
@@snoopstp4189my driver side original lasted 210k miles, passenger side is still goin🤷♂️
The Motorcraft & Ford last 150K +. Moog Chinese trash gets about 30K miles.
Thank you.
do you know the size of the bolt of the sensor? i need a new bolt
It's an 8 mm about 1" long
how is your replacement hub holding up?
Great, had a little parking brake incident at the beginning but once that was worked out the hub has been trouble free.
@@adamanderson8631 seeing i`m about to do the same ...any tips to avoid the parking brake trouble?.....thanks for the video!!!
@@SuperPappy11 double check the bolts on the backing plate and make sure they are tight. Use thread locker on the backing plate bolts to ensure they wont come out.
@@adamanderson8631 Thanks!
You need a cordless impact
You are right I do. I have a baby one but it can't handle the "big" stuff!
@@adamanderson8631 I'm getting ready to do this tomorrow that's why I was watching your video it was very helpful but I was thinking about that impact and I was like oh my God I'm so glad I have one
