Thank you for this. I've had one now for a couple of months, but I haven't flown it yet, even though I'm really looking forward to it. I've waited 25 years for MSFS. I started on FS98 and dogfighting and strafing in the combat simulators really gave me a feel for bush flying and STOL. After I'm confident in the Cubs, I'll collect the Polish prize. FYI: The Bonneville Salt Flats are a great place to practice. Miles of arid, flat horizon, perfect for skimming, stalling, STOL. You can do touch & go for five miles in any direction. It's a great day.
It sounds like we’ve had a very similar simming history then, StrGzr. I do hope you enjoy the Wilga when the time comes (it’s a great aircraft)! The Bonneville Salt Flats do sound like a fun area to explore - I shall have to check them out at some point. Cheers for the suggestion! Happy flying and all the best : )

That is the sort of reply I've been looking for - I liked the aircraft already but after having been burned on too many supposedly excellent aircraft with no feel I'm very wary. I like the Discus, but the Gotfriends Optica feels very average ( although I've just noticed an update for it ). I'll be the first to admit that having done sim physics work some years ago I'm as picky as hell...
I think that’s pretty fair Volker. The Wilga certainly has some nice attributes to its flight model, that put the aircraft “above average” in terms of feel (there are still one or two things that could be improved). The 414 and the 310 are definitely right up there also; the Kodiak was pretty good at one point, but needs some fixes to account for sim updates (which I gather the addon will be getting). FlyingIron’s addons still tick a lot of boxes for me also; they might not be 100% accurate (I don’t know), but they’re a huge joy to fly! How long before someone tries to paddle the Atlantic? XD My pleasure on the review! Many thanks and all the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I’m really waiting for one of the established quality developers to bring out a detailed study level B200 KingAir say a late 70’s or early 80’s vintage with all steam gauges. I’ve been looking forward to a review of the Wilga from ITBS and it certainly did not disappoint. Thanks for taking the time to critique this great looking product. I’m really looking forward to seeing it in the Marketplace as I don’t use PayPal due to a bad experience a while ago. Cheers and thanks again.
Cheers Chris, very kind. I’m happy to hear the video was worth the wait haha! As always, my pleasure on the video. The Wilga is indeed pretty great and certainly a lot of fun. I do hope you enjoy the aircraft when the time comes! Happy flying and all the best : )
Such a fantastic detailed review ITBS! Hope it helps the community have a better informed decision on if this aircraft a good choice for them. Appreciate the support and the kind words everyone. another good review Thank You . PZL-104 Wilga an odd aircraft to be sure especially when seen in real life in flight and on the ground makes one scratch ones head.
Haha yes, the Wilga manages to look both cool and ugly at the same time. The aircraft is definitely quite an odd design, but a very capable one of course! Cheers Mike : )
Another great review by ITBS, thanks for all your hard work. I love this aeroplane, like you and others have said, it's overflowing with character, you really do feel like you're throwing a creaking and clunking eastern block hunk of metal around the sky, absolutely brilliant work by GF.

Haha, the Wilga definitely falls into that category of being both aesthetically pleasing and ugly at the same time - capable without a doubt though. A very enjoyable addon overall! Cheers Mark : )
Picked it up from the marketplace yesterday, lovely plane, lovely model, the worn out textures on some liveries look fantastic. Love the forwood farm scenery too, I guess I got myself a private residence with an airstrip and airbnb in the English country side now 🙂. The only thing missing is an AP, one on the clipboard would be nice with a basic HDG and ALT hold so I can do some longer cross country flights while being able to let go of the controls for a bit. Those imo are a must have option now, the spitfire has it, the Tiger Moth, the Fouga and I definitely use it, I would argue if it wasn't for the AP feature I would not be flying those planes anywhere near as much! The purists may disagree but nothing wrong with having options.
Ah great Stefaan, well I’m glad you’ve been enjoying it! I wish I had a *real* private residence / airstrip, but Forwood Farm will have to do for now XD There are certain variants of the Wilga that do have an autopilot (just in case you weren’t aware) but I agree that a clipboard option is always useful (yes it’s anathema to the purists haha and I don’t generally use such an option myself, but it’s nice to have the choice for those that want it). Happy flying and all the best! : )

Great video. Nice & quirky little plane, very neatly flown. As usual, you picked some lovely scenery to show it off, although you could have picked somewhere a little warmer, especially at the moment! 🥶
Thanks very much AS! Haha, well I very nearly took the Wilga for a bit of an African safari, but the idea wasn’t quite floating my boat at the time. Goodness knows why I went for Switzerland (I think the livery inspired me), I’ve had quite enough snow to last me a while! XD Cheers once again : )
I really enjoy your professional approach in testing. Much higher quality than other reviewers. I am not a bush pilot, so it does not hit the soft spot for me. - But I may some day purchase it for floats . - It is so nice to see the development in small odd GA aircraft, such as the Tiger Moth. Now even better simulated in engine sound and correct instrument behavior. No doubt there is a market, and competition in creating such aircraft for the serious simmers - it so much easier to create a mediocre fighter jet for the xbox kids and make more money for less work. Well done - Got Friends for a study level aircraft, and not a standard Cessna..
Thanks very much once again Øystein! Haha, well that’s fair enough - the Wilga is certainly worth considering when on sale (and given Got Friends previous offerings, I’m sure the addon will be on sale at some point ; ) It is indeed great to see some unusual / highly detailed GA aircraft arriving in the sim. MSFS does seem to have “split” into 2 markets, but I’m happy to say that both markets appear to be thriving. Cheers once again! : )
Great plane. At our airfield we have a Wilga that we use often as a tow plane. A few month ago I had the opportunity to fly it myself and it was just fun. The big old radial engine is just impressive when it get's started and also while flying. If somebody is interested, I uploaded a video of the engine startup from the outside view on my channel. The sound is beautiful.
Thanks very much for the video FF, I will have to check it out when I get a chance! I’ll bet the Wilga is great fun, it certainly looks like it would be : ) Happy flying and all the best!
The 80P variant with midlife avionics actually does have the basic AP/FD unit, as well as larger tires and bigger engine. Other than that it's same as the plane you flew. This is a plane for hand flying though! You just use the AP when you need to poke around at Navigraph or whatever for a couple minutes. They have also stated that we should probably expect the team to release avionics suite replacement mods for the plane in the future, so we'll maybe get Garmin 530 or 750 configurations in future. From what I read though it seems like they don't want to do the live switching clipboard stuff and all the state saving stuff because of endless battle against bugs it introduces. Also it seems the trim in this plane has a pretty slow adjustment curve, so it takes a while to get where you wanna be, but you can adjust more precisely than in many planes, which I really like.
Cheers en0n, I realised my mistake after watching the video back. I had been flying the 80p previously, but accidentally selected the standard version when I switched liveries haha. As you say, not an aircraft I’d ordinarily want to let the automation fly, but sometimes it’s nice to unload the brain when commentating ha. The updates sound promising / exciting! Fair enough on the live configuration switching - I hadn’t considered things from that point of view. The trim is slow, but I agree with you, it’s preferable to be able to trim slowly but accurately. All the best! : )
I don't think I'm the only person who'd like to see a Draco mod for this aircraft! (I can mod the engine and sounds myself but would love to see it done properly)
Haha, I’m fairly certain you are not alone Roland! Alas, I’m only any good at critiquing addons (the easy bit), not at making them (the hard bit) XD Cheers!
Such a fantastic plane. Want to fly it some longer distances for ferrying. I modded in a ferry tank on the right fuel selector CLOSED position on the 80X variant. the CG of the tank sits just behind the pilot and co-pilot seats. Adds another 30 gallon. Since the Garmin Aera-760 in the 35X/80X has a lot of issues in the sim, you can use the PMS50 GTN750 (TDS GTN750Xi probably as well) from the tool menu. GTN750 autopilot does work but need to use VS mode @ 0 FPS to hold altitude. Will follow a flight plan.
I’m really glad you’re enjoying the Wilga Krozar! It is indeed a fantastic addon - a lot of fun. Some nice mods there as well, by the sounds of it. Happy flying and all the best! : )
Thanks very much Peter, I’m glad you enjoyed it! The Wilga is indeed worthy of consideration; something a bit different, great fun and further improvements to come (apparently). If I don’t catch you beforehand, I hope you have a great Christmas! All the best : )
Nice video, sir. I've seen a couple on this now and the feedback seems very positive. I have more GA planes than I know what to do with but I find myself asking the question 'can you have too many quality GA aircraft?' Haha. Hope you're keeping well mate.
Cheers Michael! Haha, I think we’ve all technically reached saturation point, but there’s always room for “just one more” and hey, it’s Christmas soon XD Given that we often keep seeing incremental improvements from one addon to the next, I don’t think the wallet will be safe any time soon ; ) All very good on my end thanks! If I don’t catch you before - have a great Christmas!
@Into the Blue Simulations I recently bought the Cirrus Vision, even though I have the very similar Honda Jet, so I have no willpower, basically. Thanks mate. You too. My Christmas will be good as I've ordered myself the F-18 stick for my Warthog hotas. I'm easily pleased haha!
great review sir, as always! I definately will buy this little bird as I saw it always in my childhood towing gliders from the airstrip close to our house. there were also PZL L-101 Gawrons and of course An-2s next to the Wilgas. (tbh as far as I can remember I never saw anyone playing guitar under the wing 😃) once I was almost able to hop on for a flight on one but I was not brave enough to go without daddy. 😅 now I can be even the pilot of it!
Thanks very much Péter! Haha, I think the Wilga is much better know for towing gliders, as opposed to being a portable music venue XD A shame that you didn’t want to leave your dad behind at the time hehe, but now for sure, you’ll be able to sit in the main seat ; ) Hopefully the wait won’t be too long. Happy flying! : )
One of the best STOL aircraft at the moment. Shame I can't use proper avionics with older analog attitude indicator, suggestion you made is great idea, but I think they would have to rework entire product for this. Now it's either 70' tech or full digital. Also left+right fuel tank selector would be nice for lazy guys like me with at atleast modern variant, but I know it was not in 80 variant in reality. Yeah you can disable engine realism and have left+right selector in 80, but why would anyone wanted to do this in this kind quality plane. Possibilities, possibilities...are missing, sometimes. Otherwise aircraft is excellent and I have to again remind that GotFriends have the best customer service of all 3rd party devs in MSFS. Recommended!
Absolutely Tomas, I very much agree! Someone else mentioned that we may well be getting avionics mods for the aircraft at some point, allowing the use of the TDS GTNXi etc that could be good. Apparently the inability to select features through the clipboard, is done to try and minimise bugs during updates etc - fair enough. I haven’t had to deal with Got Friends customer service myself; but like Fenix, FlyingIron etc, the team seems to be another new dev, with a much better attitude than some of the “old guard”. Cheers! : )
Oh really Sesgow? That’s strange. . . I haven’t experienced that myself, even with the 80. The aircraft has always stalled and dropped a wing on me, but I’ll perhaps have to do some more testing. Cheers!
Great review and great plane! It looks like a solid addon. The pricing is not on my side yet. I will wait for a sale as Wilga is one of my favorite plane but not at 35. As planes pile up in my library unfortunately they start to worth less and less in my eyes and I am not telling this in a bad way. Simply... the day has still 24 hours and life is life. And as I spend less and less time with each plane I tend to judge their value lower and lower. I think devs should go more towards an 'Amazon like" strategy then "Gucci" one but maybe is not the time yet or I am wrong... it happens... often.
Cheers Zaelu! Fair enough! For sure, there are only so many hours in the day haha and there’s no point forking out money for something that doesn’t quite fit the bill for you. I’m sure the Wilga will be on sale at some point and it’s well worth considering then - a very enjoyable addon overall : ) All the best!
Thanks, great review. Have you considered Tobii Eye Tracker rather than Track IR? Recently purchased one and good to be free of head clips etc. Cheers.
Thanks very much Andy! I’ve certainly considered the Tobii. It would be nice to get rid of my TrackIR cables for sure, but the other part of me thinks “if it ain’t broke” haha. I’d certainly be very interested to know if I’d be able to get similar results with the Tobii eye tracker, but people seem to speak highly of it overall. Something to consider again in the new year perhaps. . . Cheers : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations worth checking on ebay, seem to be RRP £240ish but I got one new in the box for £160 second hand. Works nicely with the Wilga which is very VFR (though IFR capable)
Every stall I've demonstrated to instructors during BFRs or expected of my ab initio students, has required level flight all the way into the buffet, and control of yaw and insipient spin by rudder only. Your entry to a "stall" at full power climing in excess of 1500 fpm shows a torque roll, which you then encouraged into a spin with control inputs.
Hi Corpus, Yeah, fair enough. “Stall” probably wasn’t the correct term in the heat of the moment, but the purpose of the manoeuvre wasn’t to demonstrate a textbook stall entry, rather to take the aircraft to the edge of its flight envelope and see how the flight model behaves. Historically, many MSFS addons had very poor low speed / spin characteristics and whilst this has broadly been improved, I still tend to check for the sake of interest. Cheers and all the best!
Yes. For instance, if you overdrive & overheat the engine for too long, it will start cutting out on you. It won't fail completely though, but I saw them say they'd be doing more with realistic engine failure behavior. Carburetor icing affects the engine. They also modeled cylinder warping & failure due to shock cooling if you dive too fast while the engine flaps are open.
Absolutely. To chime in on this, in the next update (v1.0.2) you will have permanent engine failures as well (after prolonged mistreatment, ignoring signs like sputters and such) plus you can blow an oil seal (messing up your window) when circumstances call for it (e.g. cold oil and high rpm will result into very high oil pressure, rupturing a seal). When that happens, oil pressure will drop and when that's too low your engine is gone. In other words, when that update is out and Engine Realism is on, you really need to warm up your engine...or else... ;-)
Hi Greg, It seems everyone else has beaten me to it haha; but indeed the aircraft will (already) bite you a little if you mismanage it and there’s more to come by the sounds of it : ) Cheers, all the best!
Hi Ricardo, I believe Got Friends have already submitted the aircraft to Asobo, for inclusion on the Marketplace. As soon as the Wilga is approved there, it should be available on the console as well (so 2-4 weeks I guess). Thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers and all the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations yes, you do the best reviews, and I agreed with your points of view. Oh… and you fly like a real Pilot. Thank you for your answer.
Hi Wassup, I use a Logitech G Pro X. Nothing too flashy and it takes a bit of tweaking (the mic also tends to pick up a lot of mouth noise), but it gets the job done. I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Sadly Jo, yes; I think AT Simulations were a Ukrainian based dev (if memory serves me correctly), so very understandable of course. Hopefully things take a better turn at some point and he / they are able to get back to bringing us some great aeroplanes : ) All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Had no idea they were Ukranian Based :/ Damn that's so unfortunate I really loved their work and I was so looking forward to that AN-2.
Likewise - I very much enjoyed the P149D and was looking forward to the AN-2. Fingers crossed for the future (for more reasons than just the AN-2 of course). Cheers
Why why why? Although it is beautifully done, why do these developers put so much time and energy into these weird planes? I hope the 43 people that buy this really enjoy it.
Because it's a project they are passionate about. It's hard to build something when you're not passionate about it. It may not be your taste, but is for many others. 43 is definitely on the low side..
A lot of people like these quirky older aircraft 247 ; ) The Wilga certainly wouldn’t have been top of my list for an addon haha, but I’ve been very much enjoying it. I think the aircraft has sold pretty well overall and I haven’t heard of any major complaints. We don’t all have the same tastes of course, but given enough time, I expect most aircraft will be covered in the sim. All the best! : )
Hi Smolex, That was max braking and max reverse, but I definitely agree that the stopping distance seemed rather too short - a bit of tweaking needed in the flight model there I would presume. . . All the best! : )
Edit, I’ve just realised you were referring to the Wilga Smolex, apologies, I was replying to a lot of Caribou comments at the time and thought we were talking about that haha. The Wilga is indeed known for its STOL performance; I can’t attest to the absolute accuracy of the Got Friends version, but I’ve certainly seen videos of the aircraft pulling off some pretty amazing feats! I hope that clarifies things. Cheers : )

Haha, well I very nearly took the Wilga for a bit of an African safari, but the idea wasn’t quite floating my boat at the time. Goodness knows why I went for Switzerland (I think the livery inspired me), I’ve had quite enough snow to last me a while! XD
Cheers once again : )
Haha, well that’s fair enough - the Wilga is certainly worth considering when on sale (and given Got Friends previous offerings, I’m sure the addon will be on sale at some point ; )
It is indeed great to see some unusual / highly detailed GA aircraft arriving in the sim. MSFS does seem to have “split” into 2 markets, but I’m happy to say that both markets appear to be thriving.
Cheers once again! : )
I just picked it up thanks to the huge sale going on... My go-to plane is the AN-2 but the Wilga has quickly bumped up to my secondary go-to.
Happy flying, TG!
I’ll bet the Wilga is great fun, it certainly looks like it would be : )
Happy flying and all the best!
Cheers en0n,
I realised my mistake after watching the video back.
Alas, I’m only any good at critiquing addons (the easy bit), not at making them (the hard bit) XD
Cheers!
good thing this content is still here I have gotton a little out of practice if ynow what I mean.
Ah well, I’m very happy that the older videos continue to be useful, Mike! Enjoy your time out in the Wilga : )
Another excellent review, thank you. I will definitely consider this when the money is available.
Thanks very much Peter, I’m glad you enjoyed it! The Wilga is indeed worthy of consideration; something a bit different, great fun and further improvements to come (apparently).
If I don’t catch you beforehand, I hope you have a great Christmas! All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations You too 🎄
Nice video, sir. I've seen a couple on this now and the feedback seems very positive. I have more GA planes than I know what to do with but I find myself asking the question 'can you have too many quality GA aircraft?' Haha.
Hope you're keeping well mate.
Cheers Michael!
Haha, I think we’ve all technically reached saturation point, but there’s always room for “just one more” and hey, it’s Christmas soon XD
Given that we often keep seeing incremental improvements from one addon to the next, I don’t think the wallet will be safe any time soon ; )
All very good on my end thanks!
Haha, I think the Wilga is much better know for towing gliders, as opposed to being a portable music venue XD
A shame that you didn’t want to leave your dad behind at the time hehe, but now for sure, you’ll be able to sit in the main seat ; )
Hopefully the wait won’t be too long. Happy flying! : )
Just me or does anyone want a Draco variant of this??
Haha, you certainly aren't the only one that's mentioned it GRiZZi. That could be fun for sure! ; )
The title is great, thanks
Haha, thanks very much Moschi! Glad you liked it ; )
My pleasure and all the best : )
Cheers! : )
Love this aircraft. Easily tow gliders
in the sim i was able to hold the wilga on full power at a 90 degree angle straight up without stalling, like an f22 flight model or something
Oh really Sesgow? That’s strange. . . I haven’t experienced that myself, even with the 80. The aircraft has always stalled and dropped a wing on me, but I’ll perhaps have to do some more testing.
Cheers!
Love to see it❤️
Cheers Marcos! All the best : )
I’m sure the Wilga will be on sale at some point and it’s well worth considering then - a very enjoyable addon overall : )
All the best!
fun fact, wilga in Polish means an oriole, the bird :D
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I would certainly recommend it. Game changer for me.
Cheers SP! I’ll keep that in mind : )
Ok, I’ll perhaps have to check out some reviews. Cheers Andy!
you missed the can of coke when click on the cooler box ;)
Haha, I did feature it Don? Perhaps you were still reeling from my musical masterpiece on the guitar and missed it ; )
All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations hahaha iam sorry, you are right. I was hearing some good music, its really rare these days :D
Hi Corpus,
Yeah, fair enough.
It's pronounced "Vilga". Polish for oriole.
Exactly
Yes, thanks Pawel, an unfortunate mistake on my part there. . .
All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Not an issue at all 🙂 I just thought you'd like to know :)
I don't see 'failures' mentioned on the Got Friends feature page. Is that confirmed for this bird?
In other words, when that update is out and Engine Realism is on, you really need to warm up your engine...or else... ;-)
@@gotgravel does that mean that the engine is beyond financial repair and that we have to buy another download from you 🤠🤭😁
Hi Greg,
It seems everyone else has beaten me to it haha; but indeed the aircraft will (already) bite you a little if you mismanage it and there’s more to come by the sounds of it : )
Cheers, all the best!
@@snikwadtrebor Oh that's a GREAT idea! Gonna be a new biz model I think
Hello.
For when on Xbox?
Do you have any idea?
Fantastic review 👍
Hi Ricardo,
I believe Got Friends have already submitted the aircraft to Asobo, for inclusion on the Marketplace.
Thanks very much Ricardo, that’s very kind of you to say and very much appreciated! My pleasure and all the best : )
How do i get the modern avionics ?!
Hi Marti,
From memory, do you not just select the particular (avionics) variant that you want, from the sim’s aircraft selection menu?
All the best!
LOL.. I'm sure Poles wouldn't name their plane after a great Russian river Volga! It's Wilga! 😂🙃😉
What mic do you use?
Hi Wassup,
I use a Logitech G Pro X. Nothing too flashy and it takes a bit of tweaking (the mic also tends to pick up a lot of mouth noise), but it gets the job done.
I hope that helps. All the best! : )
I don't know but the guitar breaks it for me. 🤔
You mean the guitar breaks the immersion for you Chris, or does it literally break the addon?
AT Simulations seem to have gone completely off the radar :(
Sadly Jo, yes; I think AT Simulations were a Ukrainian based dev (if memory serves me correctly), so very understandable of course. Hopefully things take a better turn at some point and he / they are able to get back to bringing us some great aeroplanes : )
All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Had no idea they were Ukranian Based :/
Damn that's so unfortunate I really loved their work and I was so looking forward to that AN-2.
Likewise - I very much enjoyed the P149D and was looking forward to the AN-2. Fingers crossed for the future (for more reasons than just the AN-2 of course).
Cheers
What's the red guarded cover on the overhead panel on the right?
It's for a rapid switch off for battery and generator in one shot. Flipping those 2 switches one by one has the exact same effect.
@@gotgravel Thank you :)
Kenya stop with the title puns, please?
Nor-way good sir! XD
Oman, I see you're not Ghana stop 😄
Why can’t xbox users buy this. Grrrrrrrrrrrr
You can once it's approved for the Marketplace (already submitted a while ago), we just have to wait a little 🙂
Why why why? Although it is beautifully done, why do these developers put so much time and energy into these weird planes? I hope the 43 people that buy this really enjoy it.
Because it's a project they are passionate about. It's hard to build something when you're not passionate about it. It may not be your taste, but is for many others. 43 is definitely on the low side..
I wish UA-cam didn't stop showing dislike counts because I'm curious if you have more than 43.
A lot of people like these quirky older aircraft 247 ; )
The Wilga certainly wouldn’t have been top of my list for an addon haha, but I’ve been very much enjoying it. I think the aircraft has sold pretty well overall and I haven’t heard of any major complaints. We don’t all have the same tastes of course, but given enough time, I expect most aircraft will be covered in the sim.
All the best! : )
This plane stops 5 feet after he lands this is so unrealistic............
? Its a STOL
Hi Smolex,
That was max braking and max reverse, but I definitely agree that the stopping distance seemed rather too short - a bit of tweaking needed in the flight model there I would presume. . .
All the best! : )
Edit,
I’ve just realised you were referring to the Wilga Smolex, apologies, I was replying to a lot of Caribou comments at the time and thought we were talking about that haha.
The Wilga is indeed known for its STOL performance; I can’t attest to the absolute accuracy of the Got Friends version, but I’ve certainly seen videos of the aircraft pulling off some pretty amazing feats!
I hope that clarifies things. Cheers : )
