Stiff total knee replacement?

- In this video I present my algorithm for management of a stiff knee replacement. Ideally, you will regain a functional range of motion by 6 weeks following surgery. If you are unable to accomplish this, you could consider manipulation under anesthesia. If you get beyond 6-8 weeks post-operatively, and at that point need help with range of motion, scar tissue is too dense to yield safely to manipulation alone, so I would recommend arthroscopic lysis of adhesions with manipulation. As a last resort a very stiff knee replacement could require full revision surgery.
