Next time you use my studio, can you PLEASE clean up the beer cans when you leave? Freaking savage.
Bro, those are YOUR beer cans, not mine.
You guys look and act like siblings😀😂🤣😂😃

I could probably just watch Allyn mow the lawn and be entertained.
Seriously though, taking pictures to track progress and journal is one of the easiest things you can do. Great advice!
I have so many pictures....... I am sure my neighbors think I am weird.
HAPPY FRIDAY!!! Perfect video!!!! Just what I was looking for!!
One of your best vids ever. Excellent. Extremely hot here in the midwest and I was debating tonight whether to put down some Humic and some fert. Will not now based on your advice. Thank you!
I always enjoy the content you got. I am gonna have to rehab my lawn this fall, I’m gonna make sure I have more blue grass down to handle the heat better.
Diggin this format for this mini podcast style of video LCN! Look good! Great tips too! Mowin Like a BOSS!
awesome thanks bro!
Great info as always! It felt like I was listening to an auctioneer but totally legible.
Great video, love the mowing footage. And let me just throw this out for anyone reading, the cool season lawn guide is still a steal at $34.95. For those of us who want to know and understand our lawns and how to take care of them it is an invaluable tool. Thank you for all the content, it has helped me up my lawn game tremendously. 👍👍😁😁 #lawncarenut #enjoythemow
Look at you whipping and walking.... Backwards!! 👏🏻👏🏻 as always great content in a concise format. Have a great weekend AL, cheers 🍻
yes! I had to learn quick. Will be doing a short segment about it this week too.
I’ll be looking for that vid to drop.
Love this format, getting the mow-on and providing the knowledge to my ears, like the best of both worlds!
Thank you, Mr LCN
awesome thanks bro!
Nice video brotha! Love the audio over the mowing footage!
Thank you! Now I have proof from the man that what I’m doing is right. Sharing with the wife!
You got this!
Exactly what I needed to hear in North Jersey this weekend. 110 with the heat index. Trouble is I have a well
and we have 4 gardens that need the water. I'm afraid of burning the jet pump out. The lawn may have to
go dormant..........
I'm in Connecticut they're saying it'll feel like 115 with the humidity.
Nice job brother. Good idea showing some footage as you talk.
thank you!
I like the journaling idea. Great video!
I have my photos automatically backup to Google and it keeps them in date order. Super simple.
Just wanted to say you give great advice thank you I appreciate it !!
you're welcome, thank you too!
Thanks for the great advice!
Palm Springs, California 112°. Thank you for the tough turf... Bermuda!
Great video. I got 5 inches of rain past 2 days. Hoping thats enough for the heatwave next 4 days. I dont water. Luckily Very green for mid summer
The weed @7:00min LOL our neighbors probably think we are crazy, I will stop and pull them out too but burning it is some next level sh*t. I love your passion.
I have to let all the others know their fate! 💪🔥
Good thing I watched this on my way home from work. I was ready to mow! Guess I’ll wait until Monday. It’s not too overgrown except the stupid nutsedge areas. Love the cool season guide btw! I’m only 15 pages in or so and I feel like I went to 4 years of turf school
Battling the same thing, just ordered some tenacity to try and get rid of it
Randall Hunter I do have that but haven’t used it yet. It’s powerful stuff
Cannot wait for the Fall Supplement to come out. I'd like to try not using a mechanical aerator and go with Air-8. Looking forward to the update!
I wonder if it would be okay to do both and if there is an added benefit or doing the "compaction cure" and mechanical aeration.
Great video my guy
rudy villa thanks paulie D
Hi Allyn,
Could you cover topdressing sometime?
More clearly, how to effectively increase the number of grass plants in an already existing lawn.
I've been following you for 5 years now (over various google accounts I've had) and i have never ever compensated you. I love your dedication to value to the people who do pay you, and your generosity to those who don't.
Lol my water bill is going to be absolutely insane. I’ll try and remember to post a reply with the total for July. Mine was going dormant and I started dumping about an inch for three days to recover now just doing about a 1/2 every other day but might go daily if this heat doesn’t let up in KCMO. It was so lush in the spring 😭 😂
I live in north Texas and it gets really hot 🥵 I do my last cut on June 20 and I still apply Milorganite and water my lawn 3 times a week and it stays green all year.
Ditto Mark I was just thinking the same.
Great video.
Thanks !
After cutting my St A at the highest I have the greenest lawn ever. My neighbour's lawn is checking out. Best advice ever. Oh! and N ext once a month
What hoc do you mow at?
@@joshualeon3486 i took it up higher during spring after each mow. Untill I got to the highest setting on my Honda. Which is 4 inches. Worked like a charm. However i do cut twice a week, but it looks a amazing and here in Texas that says a lot.
@@hhattingh Cool..I would love to mow mine twice a week..but currently only once..my st sug is about 2 months old so it hasnt matured yet.
Perfect...was sharpening drill bits a look at that a new video. i was hoping you would be wearing that impressive sweat ring hat..lol. Welcome to the heat dome
I need to hit that hat with some Febreeze before I wear it again lol
Triple digits here in New England this weekend .
And here I am in New Zealand wanting to know how to keep warm.
Today in Surrey BC it's 22 degrees Celsius enjoying the weather
I have a bit of a strange problem, I'm in Pittsburgh, PA and I have zoysia grass taking over my lawn. The stuff doesn't green up until mid-June and it turns brown in late September, but it looks great when it's actually green. I appreciate that it crowds out weeds where it grows but it looks like garbage for 8+ months of the year.
The Timemonster is still in the shop, so no mowing this weekend. Getting some rain, but with the heat I'll just be putting out D-Thatch and watering the orchids.
me too on the d-thatch if the rain holds off.
Damn. So good.
This was the first friday I just didnt mow in northern Illinois. The lawn showed signs of checking out, I hadn't watered, and it wasnt flopping over. To mow was just giving weeds the advantage. I just set some sprinklers and got out my aqua thumb after that. the edit is the low rate on allegare prodiamene is worthless.
Love to see those weeds cooking and disintegrate. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Sweden.
cheers!
If you have a small enough yard and no irrigation, invest in a multi-zone, multi program water timer. 50 bucks at lowes (Melnor brand). I set mine to run four times in the afternoon for 4 minutes each Zone. Each zone can be programmed separately. My fescue survived amazingly in 100 degree temperatures for a week.
Nice lawn👍
thanks bro!
Hey Allyn! What if my lawn has fungus and decided to let it grow out, should I keep mulching or bag for the rest of the year and start with preventative early next year? Also, can I just bag only the areas that are affected? Thanks as always, keep up the great work!
bag it for sure. If the lawn has disease in front, bag the whole front.
Here's to getting the tips wet--i mean syringing--this weekend.
KBG is going to survive fine @3+". Should have mowed today but going to wait out warm spell.
Strength!
Commerical company just fertilized a lot of lawns near me on Thursday, cool season lawns.
yes they have no choice, just one of the challenges they face. Their employees have to produce so they can pay them. They take precautions as they can and those lawns will be fine... but since we have control of only one lawn, we can easily wait.
@@Thelawncarenut I am finding that after using humic acid this year my lawn is still green and growing.
another great video! what was that weed you destroyed at the 7 minute mark? looked like a weed that i've been fighting - florida pusley maybe? its really hard to pull out... (that's what she said...)
Abiding by the tuna can rules and only watering. Since I have more time on my hands in this heat I sat inside this week and created my own property map. Did you know you can measure your lot without a tapemeasure? Simply go to Google Earth, plug in your address and there is a measure icon at bottom left that will allow you to select a section or zone. It has a cool feature that gives you the square feet of the section. It's approximate but it would be anyway. It's kinda cool and creepy at the same time. Saved the image and now I'm armed with valuable information for watering, ferts and whatever else needs my attention. Signed Obsessed KY Lawn Lady!
Allan what neck gaiter do you use while cutting the grass?
What are those long sleeve shits i mean shirts you wear when doing yard work? Do they help keep you cool?
A wet shirt is cooling. I sometimes put on a wet T-shirt under my fishing shirt
Hi Allen!!! I saw you use the Areo Flex in your weedwacker! How do like those? Does it worth the price?
Hey Allyn l mowed on Tuesday and noticed for the first time this year Rust so Thursday l put down an app of Scott's Disease-X followed by an app of spray fungicide we had a couple of down pours( l have no irrigation) so I'm hoping it washed in apps in but my temps been in the 90s will l be good ?
Rust should stop at higher temps. Airflow is key and catch clippings when you mow, wash equipment and hope for the best.
Allyn, if you have already purchased the warm or cool season guide does the price increase apply to those customers and are the updates still going ro be free? Is there a charge for these supplemental guides, I.e., the fall guide you are putting out in August?
Thanks for another great video, Allyn!
If you already purchased you are good for life. All additional updates are free.
Alan, can I apply humic Acid in the summer months after the heat wave breaks?
yes you can and it is recommended, but not while it is 108 lol
Help my grass is dying in Denver! 2 days of 100 101 degrees and a week of 90 degree weather. All my hard work on the lawn now its brown! What to do!!! I have Kentucky blue grass
Minutes 2 Midnight, water a 1/2” every day for a few days, then alternate watering days. Source: LCN in this video.
I am enabling you to continue to lack resourcefulness, the information is in this very video, I encourage you to try harder to find the information you are looking for.
WHAT ABOUT WHEN THE TEMP IS 80/90 DEG SHOULD I STILL WATER
First Aussie 😁. You are dominating , you should watch Professor Al of Lawns Across America, man he knows his stuff . Neally as smart as you.😎👍👍
Hey I got a question I live I Arizona and have a pretty nice lawn thanks to you lol but my question is it's hot as hell here and I've been watering 2× a day I dont have a water bill or restrictions is it ok to keep watering that much and if you think it is I can do more as well and I do have I inground irrigation
It's best to let the lawn take a little stress here and there. However, where you are, watering 2x a day may be your only choice. Also you may consider changing to a grass that likes more heat.
Hi i put down some disease ex and milorganite and my grass seemed to turn very dark green and was looking really nice but recently I have noticed that something else is growing in my St Augustine grass it almost looks the same but isn’t and on the other side of my house my grass is getting mixed with my neighbors grass which is a very thin grass how do I prevent my neighbors grass from spreading in mine and how could I prevent other grass growing in my grass.
Using a selective herbicide for weeds in the lawn..I bought one from home depot and it works.
Can you recommend a soil thermometer?
Here in NY ... nutsedge and crabgrass has shown its ugly head when 1 month ago my lawn looked like a golf course. I never put my july 4th app of milo down (was on vaca) can I put weed killer down when lawn temps are above 90? I'm so very afraid!!!! Dont want to destroy the lawn
Cousins Transportation Worldwide I’m in NY too. Specifically Long Island. I would definitely wait for any weed killer app until after the heat wave. I was going to mow tonight but forget it. I listen to LCN lmao
Honestly, I missed the casual feel you usually have in your vids. Not enough 'plastic straw' (cuica) bassinova... 😁 Totally get you had a lot of information to get across.
I Don't Know, I Live In Inland Southern California With Temperatures Over 100F Daily For Weeks On End. I Have Mostly Kentucky 31 Tall Fescue And Really Put Down Milorganite Heavy. City Has Regulated Watering 3 Days A Week 15 Min Max Per Zone. My Lawn Looks Amazing
That's because you are growing pasture grass.
The sun is blocked after 4 pm?
Any suggestions on dealing with Bentgrass. It seems to be taking over and it looks bad in this heat. Keep up the good work.
Look for a selective herbicide that treats that..hope this helps.
@@joshualeon3486 Thanks Joshua
I tried Tenacity and am waiting on the results.
I was planning on doing a hot weather video tomorrow... show some burnt up lawns and such 🔥
Paul's Prime Cuts looking forward to it
Cool😎
Maybe I missed it in the cool season guide but if you plan to aerate and seed in the fall should we be taking the HOC down too so we don't have to cut until the seed is well established if so how much lower or do you just go ahead and mow as necessary anyway?
you can take it down a little if you want but the real key is to poke as many holes as possible with the aerator.
@@Thelawncarenut Thank you for the reply Allyn! I wasn't sure and I don't recall reading anything about it in the cool season guide nor on your videos on the topic.
Watering everyday will encourage shallow roots won’t it? Especially with Kentucky bluegrass?
Hello Allen I live in south Florida in Port Saint Lucie in I’ve been fertilizing my lawn tiring to control weeds as well fungus it’s a lot going on with my lawn it my lawn looks good but I noticed a couple days ago my grass blades is turning yellow do you have any advice?
Maybe youve got chlorosis or nitrogen leaching from lots of rain.
I have some bermuda invading my cool season mix (kgb, rye, fescue) in zone 6b. Any tips for how to control it?
Ortho Has A Bermuda Control Product For Tall Fescue, It Works Pretty Good To Keep It Under Control. It Definitely Will Eliminate Your Bermuda Seed Heads! Just Be Careful Applying In High Heat.
@@tonylee4522 thanks!
@Alec No Problem Brother!
Bio Advanced (formerly Bayer Advanced) makes a Bermuda Control for Lawns in the ready-to-spray bottle. Bio Advanced also has the Crabgrass Killer for Lawns, which is the same product, same active ingredient, ready-to-spray, but different label for marketing purposes most likely. Might want to keep that in mind when shopping at Home Depot, Lowes, etc as a back-up in case one's not in stock and the other is. Both products are for cool season grasses. ~Mike
@@grass-patch thanks!
Funny you mentioned 2012, because that’s what the local Mets have been comparing this heat too.
Would love to water but what can us folks on a well do?
I notice your mower bouncing around a lot. Just curious why you dont level it out?
St Augustinegrass is just very thick and causes that.
How would you even do that?
Got our guide and member since Indiana days yrs ago.. your Great, but talking too fast for us Old Timers..
I water EOD and put down 1/4" in the AM when I leave for work( 8am on a timer)
> I TRIM my Lawn during Hot weather only 1 inch off the top a 3-4 inch Grass Lawn .. but still will do a 1/2" inch once a Week if not enough rain.. I ck our His Weather Report for Farming , its very good, tells me how much Rain daily, weekly and Month to date. Our dog days start now( Mid July and last till Mid Sept.. then the Cool front comes in and down to the 70's then 60's by Oct..
Hey Allyn ....another great video, thank you.......just curious....Do you live in an HOA?
Yes. A strict one.
Living in Jamaica with this heat my lawn is horrible. Need physical hlp
Me too ,watering twice per week just to survive.
walking backwards with the whipper snipper. nice!
I learned pretty quick.
The Lawn Care Nut whoot whoot😎👊
If I buy the cool season book, I’m in MN, will it tell me what to do from now till the end of the season? True green is killing my lawn. And it’s annoying.
Yes it will. You can start in late August
If u happen to see this what’s the difference between penant magnum and prodiamine?
I think pennant magnum is more for warm season grass types and prodiamine is more for cool season grass types
Randall Hunter thank u
On the topic of watering every day..... anyone out there have any tips on building a rain catchment system?
Watering every day adds up on the utilities bill. I'm sure all that water that gets wasted running off my house can be put to better use on my lawn.
I’ve been syringing everyday since we hit the 90 degree mark. Why do you recommend not do it daily?
if you do it too much, the turf gets lazy. It's needs to get some days where it just gets beat up a little.
The Lawn Care Nut thanks bro! And btw that cool season ebook is well worth the money, if only people knew how much great information is in it. $35 is a killer deal, I think even $50+ for it is well worth it. Thanks everything you do!
104 in Texas today, City watering restrictions once per week, yikes!!
I'm a fellow Texan...it's been hotter than Hades! Just an FYI, water restrictions typically do not apply to hand application watering, only irrigation systems are under restrictions.
Bryan Hale Same here. Been hitting the hot spots daily to cool it down. Hit it with PGF complete last week and it looks amazing
It can be a jungle out there!
Word is 50s for a low on Monday...I'm going to sleep in my shed!
You'll catch a cold too ha ha!
Wow that must be nice Ryan! It's only going back down to 70's here in Maryland
I am not letting my golf game suffer getting stress over grass. Wtf Alice, wish my SSN would go up so I could pay for the water to make it green like on the golf course.
Should I hold off on reseeding a bare lawn?!? My lawn, well it’s only soil right now, when should I reseed?
if it is cool season grass then wait until soil temps are falling to 70F - then seed
I’m in Chicago, I’m hoping to use a bluegrass mix. Basic steps, compost, seed, fertilizer. It should be cooler by next week, in 70s
@@prp134 probably late August is better. Late Aug - Sept are the best times to seed in Chi area.
The Lawn Care Nut perfect! I’m in no rush, I want to do it right and be the envy of my neighbors
Pimp Slap that lawn with everything you got. Keep pushing this lawn to the limit. I have crabs
what is your FB page? Is there a new one, I thought it was archived
facebook.com/groups/lawncarenut/ keep in mind you need to have purchased a cool or warm season guide to join this group. The answer to the question will be either your email you used to purchase the guide or the order number
What is this weed? 7:34 I get this a lot in my Zoysia
What weed is Allyn pulling out at the 7:00 mark?
Some sort of broadleaf..I have it too.
Hey is this myth true, would watering when the sun is blazing hot cause the grass to burn. I was told to water in morning or night on a hot summer day
That's a myth someone told you. It rains everyday here at 2pm and it's always over 90 degrees. No mass lawn burnings reported 😂
Not true he covered this on his other channel recently. It will not burn from watering during the day. However Avoid watering late evening or at night as it will invite fungus and disease.
Thanks, yes it rain in Milwaukee Wisconsin as well every morning. I thought watering while at its highest peak wasn’t good. I haven’t viewed all the content yet, but your channel by far is the one I go to for lawn advice.
What's the latest time in the afternoon can I give my lawn an afternoon syringe?
What do you mean?
I heard your lawn could end up with some kind lawn fungus if you water your lawn late in the afternoon ?
@@popeyeyankee5477 Yes..were talking nightime watering...I believe its kind of a myth though because I used to water areas of my lawn at night time to get the runners to spread and fill in and I wouldnt get any kind of fungus..granted this was before the heat of the summer when its hot and humid..mayhe thats why.
When I would get off of work around 4ish I would just do a sprinkle over the lawn if theres signs of heat stress to cool it down..keep it moist not wet.
WHAT ABOUT DROUGHT RESTRICTIONS?
If you have city ordinance then you will just have to let it dip into dormancy and hope for the best.
If I decide to let the lawn go dormant, should I be watering it every so often to keep it from dying?
I would do a heavy watering once a week.
Okay, I just finished pulling out all of my grass and took a blow torch to it on my driveway - but my lawn still doesn’t look like yours. What am I doing wrong!?
🔥😂🤘💪
Mowing down the same tire path. Creates lay down 🤔
The 1 dislike is from the guy who let's his lawn go in and out of dormancy
😀😂
I think the feels like temperature only has an effect on humans and animals by the way
I noticed that you did mention Bahia Glass any reason
bahia loves the heat ! does best in summer.
Thank you
The Lawn Care Nut Does your book talked about the hair
Friday episode with #fuentefriday
Watched a similar video by How To With Doc yesterday as well. I like his approach which was water for roughly 6 minutes per zone every morning then another 6 minutes around 4pm. Do a deep soak, 40 minutes per zone, once a week.
