Gayle, found you on Facebook about 2wks ago. I love your videos. They are so informative and easy to follow. I live in Texas. Wish you were here. I would take every class & be in every club‼️
Thank you so much, you are welcome anytime! we try to add at least 5 videos a week.
Gayle - I just want you to know how wonderful you are at these videos. I watch all your videos and I learn so much. You are very detailed and you always add tips/comments that most others forget to mention. Your experience and passion shine!
I love those pins. I never knew they made them
Awesome Gayle, always good to revisit the basics, you learn something new :)
I just happened on to your videos and soooo glad I did. I bought my machine at Quilt Con in 2020 and needless to say right after that the whole country shut down. So I didn't get any help with getting started with a Bernina (past Pfaff user) until I found your videos. Keep up the good work and you have a viewer for life!!
This is such a great video! Love the new terms. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise!!
You are such a patient teacher. I have learned so much with this video!
I love your teaching approach, and I love those fork pins!!
What a fun video Gail! I’m having fun collecting feet for my new Bernina 880 Plus. Great description of the feet! Adorable quilt block too.
Thank you. It has been very informative as I am considering updating my old Bernina for a new one.
I'm still learning...thanks Gayle! Great advice.
Love your content as well as your personality. Thank you
Great tips for the extra places to find 1/4" seam guides, on the Stitch plate, notches on the feet. Love watching your videos....(cleaning isn't my fave either---too many other fun things to do).
I have a 780 and just received my 97D foot. Can't wait to use it! Thanks for all your tips.
Another wonderful video packed full of information. Thank you. I have those pins but haven’t mastered using them yet. Remember.....”A clean house is the sign of a broken sewing machine” ♥️🤣✂️🧵♥️
Love your videos...they are very helpful! Thank you!
Your so knowledgeable and fun to watch.😊
Thank you! Great video and very informative and taught very well.
Love the pins, never seen them. Hope the machines are not as noisy as they come across in the video. Thanks Gayle, I like your natural and normal way of teaching and talking into the camera. Has made me feel more at ease about trying some more of what I thought were complicated quilting techniques. HATH
They are not noisy. This video was made when we did not have access to good video equipment during the initial Covid outbreak. But the mics always pick up the machines louder.
Great demo!
So clear and fun! I’m going to find those pins😊
We sell them. www.berninaofnaperville.com/products/magic-pins-1-7-16-30-pins?_pos=1&_sid=1a7de6bd0&_ss=r
Good info, easy to understand
Thanks! That was super helpful
You inspire me wi th your work!
What a fun video. I love your videos. You are always so sweet and positive. Wish I could buy a machine with you.
Love it - thanks!
I have a Bernina B530. It is my favorite machine to piece with. My machine is not so smart that it overrides what I prefer to do: I piece with #57 foot + straight stitch plate + 1 needle click to the right for a perfect scant. If my machine were smarter, it would sense the plate and not allow this. I have plenty of room on both the foot and the stitch plate...could even go one more click over, but don't need to. The gated foot is an MVP for me. It also works great when sewing HST's...the gate sits out in front and allows you to follow the line so easily.
i love your videos and your sense of humor. In all the sewing years with Bernina machines, I never knew about the tick marks on the side of the pressure feet. Cleaning my house isn't my FAV, but someone has to do with 2 german shepherds at hand. I learn so much from your videos. Never got the type of training that you provide here in your videos.
Very helpful!
37D is my go to.
Wow, I've been doing the "floppy doppy and snuggle butt" for decades and never realized there was a name for those! And, I use the #37 with the seam guide butted up against it, move the needle over one space, then I get my perfect quarter inch seam (I use a Bernina Artista 180)
We have to do what works for us !
Thanks so much
If I ever take up patchwork or quilting I will remembr ghese instructions and feet. I inherited a 1970 vintage 730 Record a few years ago and it is the quietest machine I own. I have still to use many of the feet it came with. lol
Hi, just recently found your channel and I love your enthusiasm! One thing I didn't quite understand...I notice you do not use leaders. When you say to line up the fabric at the mark on the foot. Is that the where your seam will begin? Not sure what you meant. I have the B550 QE and I always have to use leaders or I will get a thread nest. Maybe the more expensive machines don't have that problem?? Thanks for any suggestions. I enjoy your videos and learn a lot!!
Thanks for the detailed information you are sharing with us. I bought my machine during Just before Covid hit us, so I was not able to take any new sewing machine lessons. I have a 790B and I love it. I am wondering what stitch plate you are using, and what does it matter what one you use? When I do my piecing like you are doing here I use the single needle hole, instead of the oblong one.
This video was made so long ago, I can’t remember, but usually I use the single hole for piecing.
Hi Gayle, thanks for the great tutorial!! I just bought my 770 QE plus and it came with the 97D patchwork foot. Can wait to try it out. Are you using the straight stitch plate too?
@@rq3980 sometimes I do. Normally I do not. I use a straight stitches plate with half-square triangles and lots of heavy seams. But good practice is to always use it.
if there is anybody else who could answer my question or any other idea i would love to hear from you Junanne
Hello Gayle I have often wondered how to use the diagonal markings on the needle plate can you do a video on it please thanks junanne
There’s now a whole lot to cover. I think I talk about this in one of the North Star block of the month videos here on our UA-cam channel.
I read your comment about the table you are using. Thank you! Do you have a recommendation for a table that have the same abilities as that table. I have very limited space to sew, but would like to have something different than a folding table from Sam's Warehouse. 😉👍
Probably a gidget table from arrow.
I love your videos, I just purchased my first Bernini, a 790 crystal edition, haven’t used yet, got yesterday. I am learning watching your videos, can’t stop watching. I have a question, where can I find the magic pins (in the coffin) that you use for butting please, I tried to find them on line “butt” no luck. Thanks
Thanks for watching. The pins are the forked version (if I remember correctly. Here’s the link: www.berninaofnaperville.com/search?q=Magic+pins
Do you ship to Canada, I tried to order some but was not able to change country
@@SuzanBouchard unfortunately, we only ship to the continental US.
Hi Gayle, just found your videos! Us 770 owners are having problems with the 1/4" seam. I am using the 97D with the side guide and I am getting less than 1/4" seam. It seems to me that the fabric is getting scewed as it goes through the machine. I wonder what stitch you are using? I use the no. 1.
I am using the Straight Stitch with the center need position. In addition, the straight stitch needle plate. I usually do not use the screw on seam guide. You also should make sure that you needle position is calibrated to the actual center, if not, it needs to be taken to your local BERNINA Dealer for sales and service.
I own a B570QE and was thrilled to just find your channel and especially this video. I have all of the feet you demonstrated, but sometimes my seam just doesn't want to stay at 1/4". I start out fine at the top of my strip but once the end of the strip approaches the foot, the strip tends to veer off, most of the time to the left, leaving me with a 1/4" seam at the top of the strip and 1/8" crooked seam at the bottom of the strip. I have tried the seam attachment that butts up against the foot, guide tape, the lines on the table...you name it. Do you have any other suggestions for me to sew a consistently straight 1/4" seam? Thank you so much.
I think that it’s possible that you maybe cutting your strips not exactly straight. Or it is a normal tends to to start out accurate then space out and by the time you get back to the end you set yourself (back on the right path). The latter just takes practice.
@@BERNINAofNaperville Thank you so much. I will keep at it!
I have that machine too the new one they call the s570qe I notice its the only one as i know that has the default of pressure set at 70 all the others are set at 50 which is surely the average, this annoys me immensely as you don't always think to alter it. It maybe your problem, worth a try for your problem
@@juneworth9208 Oh my gosh. That is something I never thought of. I'm definitely going to give that a try. Thank you so much June for your advice.
@@juneworth9208 it doesn’t need to be altered. However, not 100% sure but I think this is changed with the latest update. Nonetheless, I see with my pressure at 70 when I’m using the B 570.
Since my B 770QE does not recognize which foot I have on, should I just buy the plain 57 not the 57D? (is the D is more $)
Hi Callie, Foot recognition has nothing to do with the benefits of the Dual Feed. However, I personally prefer the #97D with the B 570. Either way, I usually recommend D Feet if they are an option for your machine.
I have a 150 Quilters Edition. Can you tell me some good stuff about this work horse?
What do you want to know? We do not make videos for this machine because it has been out of the current bernina line for about 20 years.
I would also love to know what your settings are for your cutter. Mine seems to take longer & I hear more processing on my machine. I have a Bernina 770 QE.
There aren’t really cutter settings. Which machine do you use?
@@BERNINAofNaperville Bernina 770 QE. I thought I remembered seeing a setting for how it ties off before cutting. Thanks for getting back to me. Loved your video. 1st one I've watched, but will def watch your others. Thanks!
@@weikelmd You can go into the settings under the gear icon and change it for the embroidery side.
You can also, program the hard buttons on the front of the machine and the foot control to cut.
What table do you have your sewing machine in?
Hi Joyce, These cabinets are really cost effective craft/sewing tables from Wayfair. However, we have recently switched them out for sturdier work tables.
Who makes the black table in the background? It would fit nicely in my small sewing area. Thanks from NY.
I do not recommend them. They fell apart after 8 months and we threw them out
@@BERNINAofNaperville thanks, looks like a Michael’s product.
@@MegensBay They did not come from Michael's. They were the cheapest thing we could find on Wayfair.com. We needed 12 desks in a hurry and had always planned on replacing them.
Hello Gayle; I would love love love the table that you use on this video, it seems like you drop machine in and still be able to use extension of machine Can you telll me the make I am from Cheshire in the heart of uk love Junanne
This table is now in the bin! It did not last a year. However, it was purchased at Wayfair.com. Can’t remember the brand.
Hai r we get all these foots with b700
We are co fused by your comment. The B 700 is an embroidery only machine and comes with only the #26 embroidery foot.
What kind of iron is that?
Chaserpacer1 it’s a Laurastar Smart I. www.berninaofnaperville.com/collections/laurastar/products/laurastar-smart-i
What kind of table are you using? It looks like it fits the Bernina table into a flat surface
We actually do not have these tables anymore. They were horrible and couldn’t support the weight of the machines. They were $125 craft tables from Wayfair. I can’t even remember then brand.
@@BERNINAofNaperville Thanks for letting me know. I'm using a Sew-Ezi Grande table that I had before with the insert for the Bernina. It is fine, except when I need to change the bobbin I have to take the acrylic insert off. I'll just keep doing that
What table are you using?
I really don’t recommend them they were really cheap off of wayfare.com. We have now switched her horn and unique Sewing furniture in our classroom.
1/4” has always been a problem for me. 🤞
I always thought it was called nesting….
When my Bernina 830 sounds like yours, I clean and oil. Just saying.
Well then you won’t need to watch our maintenance video :) also the microphone makes the machines sound much louder.
I love your videos and you are great but that 770qe needs oiling...lol
The iPhone mic pics up every noise. This video was made during Covid, when we had no proper equipment. Look at the posting date.
