My son received a liver transplant from a man closer to his age who died in an accident. I am so grateful for that act that saved my son’s life. He was 42, married and had 2 kids and dying. He wanted to watch them graduate from school, get married, have their own kids and sit in a rocker with is wife and grow old. He received his transplant October 18th 2022. He alive today either from the man being a donor or his family donating their loved ones organs. Thank you to all who become donors or families who donate their family member organs. "After my death I would donate my organs" I once said.
Until I found out that the most important organs can not be donated "after my death". They would be useless. A dead organ is a dead organ. As long as the heart is beating your organs are fine for donation.
They would harvest them while my heart would be beating, even though de doctors claim I am dead.
I am truly dead when my heart stops beating, not when my brain is damaged beyond repair.
After a deadly car crash and someone declairs you are dead....your heart is NOT BEATING anymore. They can put you on a life support machine whatever they want. Your heart wouldn't beat.
    Define death.
    Define murder.

I am an organ donor, and it's surprising what they can do these days. When my father died of a massive heart attack 10 years ago, his organs were not eligible to be donated, however, they were able to take other elements like skin, bone, other tissues, and his corneas. We got a card from the donation organization that his corneas did go to a recipient, and although we don't know who that is, it's comforting to know there is someone able to see through my father's eyes.

This is an old documentary & this is Australia, loads of negative comments about the hospitals making hundreds of thousands from the donors organs that they think should go to the donor's family, I mean wtf? Before making out it's a simple thing to just hand over your organs think about the laws, it's sad but fantastic if you can be a donor & save someone's life, everyone can sign on the register but not everyone can donate. Pre-existing conditions like MS, the conditions around Mad Cow = Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, vascular disease, prevent donation. All I'm saying is educate yourself on the laws although all states are similar to avoid you being the donor but your family says no because they didn't know, so tell them! If your not in good donation condition, you won't be!

My daughter’s donor knew full well that the organ could be rejected but she still felt it would absolutely be worth a try. How sad that you have such a negative attitude- why try and rob someone of hope?

I am an organ donor. I just say that they would tell u everything, not just the good. The bad and ugly as well. Just like in USA if u didn't get covid vaccine or smoke cigarettes, u don't qualify for an organ. But at the same time, they will use organs from those people

I mean that’s not at all true. One of my middle school teachers had a transplant in the late 1990’s and he’s still very much alive with that same kidney. I also know a girl who’s going on year 20 with the same set of transplanted lungs and another girl who’s going on 15 years with the same liver she got as an infant.
