    You should make it clearer that you can either claim a standard mileage deduction or car expenses but not both. For most drivers the mileage deduction will be higher and also much easier.
    In fact the mileage deductible went up in July of 2022, so you have to calculate your mileage from Jan through June and July through the end of the year.

      Hi... so when doing taxes and using mileage... why would you have to figure for the different months? I see you said the amount increased, but when doing taxes don't you just enter the miles? Or, do you have to enter a dollar amount?
      And can you tell me what the power mile amounts are please.... Thank You!!!

    • @hartrionosastrowardoyo1548
      @hartrionosastrowardoyo1548 Рік тому +3

      Because it's two different rates. A rate of 58.5 cents a mile applies to travel from January through June last year, and it's 62.5 cents per mile for trips from July through December. So you would deduct how many miles you did between January through June multiplied by .585, and for the rest of the year your mileage for those months multiplied by .625.

      @@sandysacrylicart6925 I just did mine yesterday and used TurboTax - if you use them, it'll ask you the total number of miles you drove for Doordash from January-June, then the total numbers from July-December. I keep my own spreadsheet and document the number of miles I drive per week, so it was easy to figure out for taxes!

    man my last dash tonight was a train wreck. got an order for taco bell, went there to pick it up and the girl said that someone had picked it up 15 to 20 minutes before hand so i went to my car and tried to contact doordash support, after 20 minutes of trying trying because it was saying connecting to agent but wasnt. i finally got a hold of an agent. explained what had happened, they said they would give me half pay and unassigned me from the order without it going against me. i said ok thank you for the help what about the customer they said i will contact them and give them a full refund i said ok thanks for the help and they instantly ended the chat. well turned out it being unassigned did go against me and i did not get half pay so i wasted 45 minutes of my time for nothing. kinda still furious about it

      From what I've seen coming from many different sources(you should also do your own research, ask tax prep person etc): Food delivery gig workers cannot include miles driven from home to the first pickup point of the day. Also can't include miles from the last drop-off of the day to home. All other miles in between though can be deducted. I use the Stride app because it's 100% free. I just have to remember to set it to begin tracking miles when I get to the first restaurant or grocery store of the delivery day. I also must remember to close out the tracking after I make the final drop-off. I have a reminder note on my phone holder in the car 😅

    This is totally inaccurate. First of all, if you choose standard miles deduction, you can’t deduct anything else. Secondly, my tax advisor told me the first year that my cell phone can’t be deducted because I use it for personal reasons. All the other things you said can’t be deducted unless you choose not to use standard miles. And most of us will get more back with standard, and it’s a LOT easier. I’m tired of hearing all this hype on your channel. Strait lies and misleading info on taxes for people new to all of this.
