You can try a bucket with water and gently swirl the roots around to help remove soil

  • @busrasuheyla

When you buy a new plant, you should never repot them immediately bcs the plant is already stressed out from the move and needs to adjust to the new space a.k.a light, moister etc.
Repot your plants maybe 3 weeks after buying. Or even later bcs you have to figure out where your plant thrives and maybe you have to change the spot a few times so yeah.
Also repot your plants 6-8 days after watering them when the soil is dry and the plant is full of water and happy. When repotting use dry soil and don't water for a few days! Maybe 4-6/7 days and then water them.
Also I just did the same with my snake plant I had 2 baby's on one and one baby on one snake plant. You should use a clean knife or sharp tool but you did it right so everythings good :)
    Edit:
After somemore experience i would suggest to water your plant a little after repoting making sure the soil is NOT soaking wet as the roots might get damaged. After 2-3 days check back on it and if the soil is dry you can water again. Please guys just try to learn about the needs of your plants. ♡

This is so true. I bought a baby echeveria ebony and my dog dropped the pot the very next day 🤦‍♀️ so I had to repot it and as newbie i watered it right after. She's been surviving and growing new roots but I think I'll hold off watering for another week or two.

@R Lumière as this comment is quite old now and i also learned something new, I agree with you! I would say repot when soil is dry and water your plant making sure you dont over water as the new soil will have a little bit of moisture. Then wait for 2-3 days depending on how dry the soil is now water again.
Thank you for Asking i will change the comment right away🤣🤭

A nice tip is to get some mesh, plastic screen from Home Depot, it comes in a big roll for like 6$...I think it's real purpose is for actual window screening. Cut a little piece off, place it over your drainage hole, pot your plant, and it will prevent any dirt from coming through when you water it and making a mess.

how much soil i take off depends on where i buy my plant. if its from a big box store i try to remove as much soil as possible because they dont take great care of their plants. if its from a nursery tho, then i dont remove too much since they usually use high-quality soil anyways

Can you tell me why my peace lily s dying fir four weeks. I transfer one in a bigger pot and other in water glass jar. Both still dying since four weeks. I has yellow leaves since May 5 th I called several stores and told me different info. I have no problems with my other plants except this peace lily. I realized it s so difficult! It will throw out if they completed dead I tried. Frustrated. Suggestion. I am home bound to my foot broken since Dec and not yet to drive to store to show it to the garden center!
