Boston lps are very common, several radio hits by any band creates album sales like crazy, there's really good classic rock bands back then that never had a radio hit. Wishbone Ash is an example, they put out great music especially an LP called "Argus".

Sadly I think its often people moving home who need to downsize, people who really need the money, or from people who were recently deceased.
They never get rid of the good records tho

My eldest brother collected vinyl. These would have been first releases, as he grew up through the mid sixties, 70's and somewhat early 80's. Avid guitarist, drummer and collector of around 800 vinyl records. Wall to wall.
About two years ago I asked him if he still had them.
"No, I dumped them in a skip when we were clearing out. I stream music now and other stuff I have on CD, they were just taking up space."
I was beyond pissed. All it would have took was an email "Hey, do you want this stuff?"
I had a similar experience in 1998. I had a neighbor with a large collection from the 70's and 80's that I always admired. One day I mentioned the collection and a neighbor told me that our neighbor had dumped it just a day or two before to make room for the new baby. I would have paid her for the collection and saved her from having to pay to have it hauled to the dump.
That’s a hate crime •0• my grandma lucky my grandma keeps hers in near mint condition just recently she pulled out a completely clean purple rain album.

@@charlydelta802 I know.....labels used to have to scout, recruit, and invest a lot of money seeking out bands...with no guarantee of ROI.....now that people can create noise on there laptops and promote it effectively and cheaply......good music never stood a chance....at least in the main stream

that collection - Jeeze talk about a time and place. I can almost smell the stale beer, cigarettes and broken dreams wafting out of that collection.

Man, this brought back memories of my old record collections from the 60s and 70s. The problem is where do you keep them all. But you don't get the same feel when you purchase a CD as vs an LP. You study the big jacket and cover and sometimes there's a lyrics sheet in the record. You just can't do that with a CD the same way. Also, when you were buying albums you got to hear a whole lot of different songs done by the group to get a better idea of where they were coming from. Not just buying the hits one by one.
I was watching this video in bed and when y'all started flipping through the vinyl I ran downstairs to see if my 3000+ records were still in the computer/record room. They were but I coulda swore it was my collection. Cheers from Washington State. K

Interesting that you flicked past a lot of the classic British Rock n metal and the Southern Rock stuff that would be essential in any collection I might want. And you hovered spent a lot of time talking about stuff and referencing much that wouldn't be bothered about at all. So makes me think that once you've taken what you consider the cream out, there would be still a lot of really great vinyl left in there.
I dare say what we each would consider good or lame, would be somewhat different.

Quality or quantity what is the condition of the vinyl I could have played the numbers game but I always only ever bought clean vinyl and not smashed to bits records. There is no wrong or right just my opinion.
Wowee. Records in my area are not very good and way overpriced. Rare anymore to find any $1 lps that are not Jim Nabors or Mormon Tabernacle choir.
Hipsters have destroyed records. It used to be something everybody could enjoy, now they have driven the prices of used lp's up so outrageously high because of their bullshit. It's scary what a short time frame they did it in too. I have two mono copies of the door's self titled debut album in excellent condition, I bought one in 2007 for $10 and and the other in 2010 for $8.50. These days you aren't going to find a copy in mono for less than $200. Once record store owners realized that hipsters will pay outrageous prices in order to turn record collecting from a hobby into an exclusive club, it was coast to coast. Sad state of affairs.

I'm a Hard Bop jazz collector. I'm used to paying a lot of money for vinyl.
I use Discogs to get my records, and in fact, my record collection's start (which is 7 gospel records at $3 each + no shipping) will be next week (should be between Monday and Thursday). 2 of them are even supposedly mint condition too.

I wanted to make comment, you passed a Motley Crue Album, that was the Too fat For Love LP, Do me a favor and look and see what label it's on. If it's on Leathur Records then you have yourself a 200 plus dollar album. That was the original label they were on before signing to Elektra. The Leathur Crue albums are limited press. From the looks of the radio station label, that might be one of the original pressings.

That's awesome. So much good stuff in there. Even Queen's first album, The Game, Sheer Heart Attack. Queen's great. And some good Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, saw some Beatles. Quite the collection.

Mike Barooshian Yeah I wish I had that copy. I just ended up buying a newer release on vinyl. I do have a nice original copy of “Some Girls” and a copy of “Goats Head Soup” in great condition I bought at an old record store for a couple bucks back in like 2007. The orinal bill of sale from a local stereo store (Leo’s Stereo, long out of business) was in the sleeve and the original owner bought a couple good titles. I think he paid more than I did for it.

Look for Bon Jovi "Slippery When Wet" alternate cover with the chick with a "wet" yellow tank top - that's worth what you paid for the entire collection

Dollar bins r awesome always can find a diamond in the rough friend of mind found 3 rush albums in dollar and I've found the Beatles 1st album in a dollar bin

I am always amazed by the event that someone back in the day goes out to a record store. And buy a record and bring it home. Without playing it. And it's still unplayed.

Great stuff, sold my record collection many years ago to transform into the CD age. Still regret doing that. There is nothing better than hearing the warm cracking and pops and the actual motion in playing a record and staring at the album cover while listening to it. Thanks

i’m 19 and have a few of my favorite hip hop records on vinyl. im a producer so i love sampling and getting inspiration from older records of any genre. really looking forward to expand my

there is a lot of great stuff to sample from back in the day. Fleetwood Mac, believe it or not. Listen to entire albums. Toni Basil's 'Hey Mickey', Pink Floyd's Money, Lot's of great bass riffs that stick in your head.

@Walrus Bellhop, I had Love Me Do & P. S. I Love You on Tollie 45s. Those might have been on one record, but I had 2 Tollie 45s of the Beatles. Yellow label with a simple square logo in black on one & a yellow label with a slightly fancier logo with a blue square on the other.

I also have a large record collection with 3000 lps in order of their type of music. I keep the rock together and the jazz albums together and classical lp,s together as well as country music. Doe one get a chance to actually play some of those records? if you do one has to be single and not married to benefit this musical hobby I know. No silly girlfriends of distraction.

Soundtracks can be great! Especially Promos to 80's movies some were Very Limited Pressings! Awesome source for great overlooked songs often exclusive to the movies! The Japanese Pressings are always good! I would have checked Bowie "Diamond Dogs" to see if the dick is airbrushed out and what color the Elvis Moody Blue album was! Also, ALL the KISS albums for the "Goodies"! Kind of blew by the Stereophonic copy of "Introducing The Beatles"?! Looks like The Who "Live at Leeds" doesn't have the paraphernalia in it? (Probably more than any other album in history? LOL) Speaking of laughing I got a kick put of you saying the Elvis album was lame "Aloha from Hawaii Via Satellite" when depending on the pressing it can be worth hundreds! I'm sure you know all this, but for novice collectors, just a few thing$ they may want to look for! Overall, looks like you got a really Nice Collection, Congrats!

What an unhappy man. Getting so much god stuff and nobody is there to help him….. How evil can a seller be to such a golddigger?!? I would be grateful even if i had to carry them from the 17. floor!

That's neat the Earl Ownsby. I know very little about his involvement in the music industry but I can tell you some interesting things about him. In the 70s and 1980s he produced a bunch of 3D films out of a studio facility that he owned in your area. It may still be there. Many of them are kind of forgotten about now. But he learned a lot about the technology and process of making these things. He became sort of a go to expert on the process of stereoscopic photography. So when the major studios were doing Amityville 3D and Friday the 13th 3D and the Man Who Wasn't There in 3D et cetera they went to Owensby as a technical adviser. Eventually a really amazing tribute was made to his name. A certain Michael Jackson short film directed by Francis Ford Copeland named Captain EO ... E O for Earl Owensby.. i have a couple of his 3D films in anaglyoh format. One ive never tracked down but remember seeing a teaser one sheet for a 3D release od was Hot Heir. I suppose an inheritance meets caper comedy involving hot air balloons. Rottweiler aka The Dogs of Hell is my favorite. Really microbudget things they are very cheesy fun.
