Yes, more specifically (book spoilers, but only as far as the show goes already) they GREW the ways with the help of a particular talisman and use of the One Power. But because it was done by male Aes Sedai, the corruption of the Dark One (the Taint in the books, which word they haven't mentioned for obvious reasons... Then, while naturally a different writing style and a few decisions I didn’t like, Sanderson did a good job finishing it off (not a task I would envy).
Aiel: Ready for COVID before it was popular. Fantastic opener. I also loved the Rand reveal. Yes, he found out differently than in the books, however the emotional heft of the scene where he realized that he was the Dragon Reborn, and all the implications of that, was the same in that it rocked his world. That's what I loved about it. I'm not sure how they will end the season, but let's be honest, the end of book 1 was really messy and confusing as well. So I'm hoping that they can end it in a way that is more clear than the book.
1, the Aiel COVID comment was funny. 2, agree about that open, fantastic scene. 3, I love the Rand reveal, if you look back on previous episodes you can see it weighing on him.

It was given. It is Min!!! And Adam, no one was sure if they were going to combine ways with the other portal stones. So I guess no one wanted to mess it up for you!! 😂
It's Min, yes. A bit older, still sassy. Nyneve and a'Lan Mandragoran is in book ...err.."The Path of Daggers" (eight) or "Winter's Heart" (nine)? Also Jordan`s prose is effusively descriptive, so yes, there's things lost, but also things lost like the hundredth four paragraph description of a splendid dress that makes the wearer look more voluptuous because it's silk over damasque and... you get it... oh and laces! tons of laces! this isn't medieval after all!And also a'Lan is a horrible dork because he's so closed up across lots of books that he has male shonen anime protagonist levels of stoicism... And the Aiel Maiden of the Spear in the intro, Rand's mom, is listed in the cast list with full name of the character, so beware spoilers by implication. Just in case Jay wasn't told - the last battle of the Aiel War takes place on the slopes of Dragonmount, the volcano above Tar-Valon... Oh yeah, the ships, that's an awesome plant. And yes, book four is... so *awesome* , especially the later chapters are nuts! I visualized *The Blight* as a post-nuclear-esque wasteland, but eh, let it be evil Huorns then, okay.. ;) It's not medieval. See Fal Dara - does that look medieval? It's a Vauban pattern star fortress - and they wouldn't have needed to do this, they could have just filmed the stuff inside (in an actual Vauban fortification) and put up a CG "classical" fantasy fortress, be it European or Asian, but the Vauban fort is an early modern right up to WW1 pattern of fortification, it's post medieval, like this world. Best regards Raoul G. kunz
At first I was thinking that mining town was Min until she definitely wasn't. This is definitely her, but more sassy than I had pictured in my head. She gave into the pattern and went for the ride. The show Min's first visions was a great change IMO
“I’m very curious about this. ““So do I.” I laughed so hard. You guys are funny. We don’t know exactly what will happen in 8 because they have barely prepared us for some of it, so I wonder if it will even happen.
On the way to Tar Valon they passed at least one Portal Stone or something that looked like a Portal Stone. Rand hesitated and looked at it. The thing I liked about the battle scene is that the Aiel call battle "Dancing the Spears." They showed the martial art as a literal dance with spears. It's odd that Nynaeve would question whether Fain is dead. She also disappeared on Winternight. The seer was Min. The name was given in the show. My biggest disappointment was that when Min told him he would have three wives she didn't add that she wasn't happy about the situation, either.
7:19 Of all the weird additions of scenes that weren't in the book, this one I am very happy they added. this is how you do it right! you show what only have been hinted about before. 28:02 as previous comments have stated, Adam: Yes, it is. I understand them skipping Baerlon and placing Min here, one less city to visit is one less set piece to build. But I'm not happy about it.
C’monnnnn. I haven’t finished Squid Game… 😋😋😋 and before you judge, yes, I’ve spent my time watching WoT and WoT reaction videos. But after next episode… and some reaction videos… and some theory videos… I’m going to watch something else. The Ways looked like some video game to me. Q-Bert! Also… Diablo…. Also there was a dungeon or something in FFXIV. I liked The Ways, it’s different, but it looked good. It’s Min! I’m glad they started the romance with Lan and Nynaeve. It just happens, so I’m glad it builds. I think the last episode will be a ramp up for season 2. I have no idea, just a guess. It will be Battlestar Galactica level cliffhangers at the end of each season. Amazing reaction, as always.

32:14 Rand's accuracy isn't because he's using the one power. The difference between when he's off the mark and when he's hitting is an indicator of his state of mind.
So much fun! It feels like both Jay&Adam is into the show.
Rand didn't use magic to hit bull's eyes that second round. He used a concentration technique called "the flame and the void".

All Hail the Oxford comma!
Ok... Jay with the "Stay a while and listen" diablo joke cracked me up.
"Cut back to the Trolloc falling for forever"
lmao
love this series, one of the best opening sequences,no one messes with a woman with child
"yea, I got work in the mornin. It's this whole, Eye of the World thing"..... some funny shit.
Yes! Was hoping this would drop today. That was MIN!
“Seek out Mat Cauthon”
“Where shall I find him?”
“Try Casting” 😆
I've been waiting for you guys! Such a great episode OMG!
this was like an as the world turns soap opera episode, so much intertwined relationships going on XD
paddin fane was also shown in the ways when lightning strikes after his whistle - trollack- morain says lets move, also for book readers tehre is a scene screenshot in teh extras where it shows fane kinda using the correct way to use the way gates, dont know why they cut the scene...issues, lan scars not in lan butt scene in episode 1, moraine says "Nothing" when Lan asks whats wrong.....can she do that, and yes thats our Min
I got the feeling that Moiraine's "Nothing" was a misdirection rather than a lie.
Min's name was namedropped when Moiraine spoke to the Lady, so yes, it's Min.
The seer is Min. Book readers will know her
Really good, I am so pumped for episode 8 and season 2
Speaking of Arby's..everytime Liol speaks you hear "We've Got The Meats"
Yes that was Elimindreda “Min” Farshaw.
Amazing The Birdcage reference Jay
@1:45 Jay..."HEAD HUNTING" for Adam's head palace people...
🤣🤣
Min is here - Min is here - Min is here 💜💜💜
No, but the Martha Graham comment is actually elite! I do believe the movement director (I'm a dancer, so had to look into it) has a background in Graham technique, and the fact that this was picked up on has shook me in the best way! Day absolutely made!
Also, loving your reactions so far! I'm a book fan, and getting the combined book reader/fresh eyes reaction at the same time is brilliant!
It was given. It is Min!!!
And Adam, no one was sure if they were going to combine ways with the other portal stones. So I guess no one wanted to mess it up for you!! 😂
Yes - Moiraine says Min's name early in the episode
That was indeed Min!
Yes it was Min they did say her name but Moraine said her full name Elmindreda
Idk why but Adam is so great and I love him... No bias or anything...
I visualized *The Blight* as a post-nuclear-esque wasteland, but eh, let it be evil Huorns then, okay.. ;)
It's not medieval.
Best regards

At first I was thinking that mining town was Min until she definitely wasn't. This is definitely her, but more sassy than I had pictured in my head. She gave into the pattern and went for the ride.
The show Min's first visions was a great change IMO
"I just go, Wow Neat!" Same Jay, same.
Super excited to see your reaction to this episode, especially the cold open… 🤩
Have you ever noticed how Rand only ever has about 4 arrows 🤣
“I’m very curious about this. ““So do I.” I laughed so hard. You guys are funny.
We don’t know exactly what will happen in 8 because they have barely prepared us for some of it, so I wonder if it will even happen.
This was by far the best episode of the season…
Enjoying your reactions!!!
Machin Shin is very very dangerous!
What does it do??!
Guilt trips you...
I was about to take a drink while Perrin and Rand were arguing and you said 'arroo' and made me laugh/choke!
Yes. Moiraine asked about Min with the Fal Daran channeler/Lady. Different from the books so I have more anxiety waiting for Ep8
The girl with the visions is Min! (They did say her name in the show.) FYI - and love the reactions as usual.
The "We're going to Doug Flutie this thing" got me. Was waiting for you to call me out by name, but this is better.
The lady playing Min is 36 years old.
3 6.
That's like casting a 50 year old to play Peter Parker.
I picked up on the error but understood it because their ways gates looked more like what I imagine the portal stones might have lol.
Love your reactions to these, and I've been looking through your other videos. It's always so much fun, but the combination of book reader/non book reader is great. Especially since I'm still only a little way into the books. Can't wait to see your reaction video for the finale.
I was thinking about the Ways, if they are in the Stedding, you can't channel in the stedding, therefore they couldn't be opened ...
They are not in the steddings. Just outside, built by male aes sedai
"So Manticore?" had me in awe of the quickwittedness, not gonna lie.
32:14 Rand's accuracy isn't because he's using the one power. The difference between when he's off the mark and when he's hitting is an indicator of his state of mind. He's so upset that he's having an issue hitting the target. When he clears his mind, he's able to "Just do it". This is also true when he starts using the sword.
****Potential Mild Spoiler****
Also, the people from the Two Rivers turn out to be REALLY good archers as a culture :)
Watching this again because you two are entertaining! He's the boss of this level! I love it!
The opening scene with Tagraine Mantear was never in the books. That fight scene was B@d@ass!!! And the actress who played her was also the stunt woman and she killed it!!!
Trapped in a box, hey? 😬 fun reactions! I think Laneave and Rand’s mother are book 1 things but they got a little further with both of them.
That's Elmindreda for sure.
Adam's arms must be tired after all that Q-Bert flexing...
For that scene where Egwene is waiting for Nynaeve in her room and then Perrin comes in: watch his face and then remember that he can smell what they were both doing last night... Subtle. Cleverly done.
Except, they were in Lan's room, not Nynaeve's.
@@WolfStarbuck trust me, Perrin smells everything anyone has done in the last few hours *off their body*. It's brought up quite a few times.
By "they were both doing" I was referring to the two women...
My first thought seeing the blackhawk leader was "TREVOR!"
Oh we picked it up. We were just letting you catch up. We all wanted vine covered doors 🚪 for waygates.
