- I attended the 2024 Poughkeepsie Pride Parade/ Festival.
I talked with Pastor Heather from First Congregational United Church of Christ. We discussed what the Bible says about homosexuality, gay marriage, what the gospel is, and more!
But our conversation got cut short when security appeared...

It's best to have an open mind instead of having a closed one because that's how you grow as a person especially a Christian we need to keep God and learn as much as we can while we're on this Earth before it is too late salvation is for free everything else is not for free you have to work for it every day going to work from paying bills and taking care of your home that's a lot of work and then it's good to hear the good news specially from the gospel.
Jesus was not a social justice warrior. Now that is a modern invention.

So a young boy is "too easily manipulated" by an adult who wants to have sexual relations and therefore can't comprehend the gravity of "consent", but if that same boy says "I am a girl" after walking past the Pride display in WalMart, there's no conceivable way they were manipulated to think they are a girl? This kind of illogical reasoning is why they always feel like they win. They constantly change the rules and move the goal posts.

Again this pastor should know the Gospels and she is clearly making guesses. She never once quoted Sacred Scriptures, she just talks in terms of the current culture. These people are the worst of the worst and there are bible quotes where Jesus says, those who twist Scriptures will wish they had never been born.
See this is why you study your bible and obey God. It’s obedience that you gain wisdom from God. Of course the church has fallen away from the true faith so they will always be wrong and God doesn’t know them. Another problem you church goers have is understanding who Jesus is. He is the Son of God but that’s just a title you take it as a way to worship him with and it’s wrong to make him down to your level. He is human but he in no way your level. When talking about God you should say Father and God. Jesus is God so call him God not the Son of God just plain God. Don’t bring him down to your level he’s far beyond you
She is correct that the modern concept of homosexuality was invented practically 5 seconds ago and is an invention of modernity. That doesn't mean that behavior or desires are not condemned. It only means modern mans idea of what drives those desires and behaviors has been twisted into a perverted sense of self that man was free from in ancient times. They didn't define themselves by their sexual desires and there is no reason why we should either. I am not merely a sexual being. There is a great deal more to me than my base animal instinct and I am entirely capable of living a full and fulfilling life even if I don't entertain all my animal instincts. In fact self control as with other virtues are a part of what makes us more than mere animals. We might all be born into sin, but humans uniquely have the gift to become free from sin through Christ. The devil only seems to make us less than humans, reduce us to mere animals or if possible even less than that, Christ seems to restore us to humanity as it was originally intended. We must conform to Christ and that means surrendering ourselves entirely to Christ, no matter what that costs us. That includes our sexuality. For thousands of years people have felt called to do this, even to the point of celebacy that Christ might be glorified and his mission accomplished. Those who attempt to inject gnostic epicurian sexual ideas into church teaching are not of Christ.
Verses that condemn homosexuality is in actuality, in the real translation, condemning laying with young boys. Look it up. Where in the bible otherwise does it condemn pidos? Sounds they got Christians up in arms, howling at the wrong "wicked". Why aren't we as Christians as vocal about the shit that goes on within our own communities and churches hurting the most innocent.
