- This episode of the Canadian television program The Nature of Things is about fear. Two phobia treatments at Kindt Clinics were filmed: Mirjam who was afraid of chickens, and Eva with a fear of heights. Both were treated by Dr. Merel Kindt using the Memrec Method.
How about long-term side effects? How much are those studied?
I have a fear of flying and I'm going to test this out. I'm goig on a short flight, take some propranolol and go for a flight back the next day. See if it works. For now I'm sceptical.
how did it go?
@@nahventure3873 I'll be honest. It worked to some degree. I no longer have like severe panic. The fear is still there but its manageable. Went on 3 flights since, none longer than 3 hrs and kept my cool every time. Thank you for asking.
@@adrianvintila5077 Thank you for responding. I'm suffering from agoraphobia and it's completely in the way of everything in my life to the point I break down and essentially just stay home on lockdown, even when it comes to doing things I'd like to do. So I am highly considering this.. Would you mind sharing how you went as to treating yourself and what dosage you took?
@@nahventure3873 happy to help. I had a similar problem with flying.. basically i got physically sick every time i knew i was going to fly. Even the days leading up to it were no fun. I took one dose of propranolol 10mg immediately after i landed on a short flight and went to bed about 3 hrs later. The next day i took a longer flight to my destination and it was ok. As i said before, i was still worried but i could take my mind off it as long as the plane didn't make any strange noises. A few days later i took another flight back and again i was not that worried anymore. I took one more propranolol at the end of my second flight for good measure. It basically helps bring the fear down. I really hope it helps you. All the best
@@adrianvintila5077 Thank you so much! I've been seeing around 60mg recommended, so I'll try to figure this out since I can't really see how much kindt is giving in the videos, but thank you so much. The idea is to be able to even remotely do things I can't do at all right now, even if I have some fear lingering, I can work through that but a full panic attack is another matter. Also, did you do this all alone? Flew alone and administered the drug alone or did you have someone with you?
sorry it really helps?
It can, the success rate is about 83%, so it does not always work.
why does this documentary expose the audience to those gory images - very amateur production decision here
