Because Alien/Aliens and the classic Predator movies where gritty action and horror movies. This, on the other hand, was a cartoonish looking fantasy and adventure movie with only a slight touch of actual horror. On top of that, everything looks flat and generic, that's why it is so hated. But i must admit, you have to give the filmakers credit for using ADI Studios practical effects.
you confuse a good director .. with the term "ahead of time.." Aliën 1 was ahead of it's time.. that's the reason we re still having movie's like this.. movie's like this..suck.. unless a great director manages to gives a tastefull thrill anyway.. this movie might be one the better ones in the endless string of sequals and what not.. .great artork, nice visuals. the action though is terrible.. the predator costume bounces like styrofoam.. yet nothing new for as far as i can tell from these short clips i consume from time to time.. the xenomorf is completely unfit for this type of american wrestling sort of action.. it has great features yet non of them come to life in a movie like this..
Props to that last dude who managed not only to shoot Celtic predator but also hit him with a 2x4. That's better than 99% of the humans who get hunted.

How this film ended up being hated and "mediocre" to many, is absolutely ridiculous. It's AMAZING and a real homage to both franchises.
The acting and the story isnt good, it had great effects and creatures but that's about it
I think part of the reason was because it was watered down to a PG-13 rating
...because i wanted to see aliens fighting predators not 90 seconds of shaky cam footage followed by 90 mins of angry black chick thats why

another possibility is that, since all the weapons binding the queen and the whole pyramid itself are designed by the predators, we can deduce that the queen was held in place to be released whenever new predators need rank exams😅
@@mohdfaizul481 Likely was an entire clan, working together to capture it, as you'd need to eliminate its hive first without injuring it, meaning the use of a "non-hunting" weapon, something not lethal capable of stunning a queen. Hunting a queen however, is something an elder would do for honor, infact to become an elder you need to have done it with at most the support of 2 others if i remember correctly.
Oh and by non-hunting weapon, they have an arsenal full of toys that make their hunting weapons look like muskets (they have what is basically a plasma flame thrower rifle), they never use military grade weaponry as its not honorable. They compete for the right to hunt by seeing who is willing and able to preform the hunt with the weakest gear. This film does have issues tho in 1 regard for the Yautja lore, scar "bloods" himself with the dead facehugger, in reality a bloodied, elder or clan leader would preform that right, an unbloodied has no status within the clan yet and is still considered basically a child.

I saw the movie when i was like 4 or 5 i think, Im 23 and I remember going to see this with my dad and it ended up being the first of either Alien or predator movies I got see. This movie got me into both franchises and out of all them including (prometheus, alien covenant) I think the original alien, avp, and predator 1 are the best. Prometheus is up there too, the concept was so amazing but it was handled horribly in alien covenant
To think,those predators were teenagers and was the first time they see a xenomorph alive. And yet they were super skilled. Oh and it's so interesting, in the scene when the human fight in a hand to hand combat (against Scar or celtic I Think), the actor broke one of his ribs for real. He knew that something was wrong but he continue anyway .That's dedication.
In this movie there were Celtic, Chopper And Scar/ScarFace and they were the young blood trio so yea it's their first time seeing the zeno

It's based off the original jungle hunter biomask design which was eventually scrapped for the smooth and slick mask we all know from the film.

It's because of the actors. The original Predator actor was a very lean and tall man - Kevin Peter Hall who stood 7 foot 2. However, Kevin was long dead by the time this movie came out, hence they choose Ian Whyte, a guy who stood 7 foot 1, but was a bit more stouter than Kevin Peter Hall . Plus, the suit they made may have been bigger for better structural integrity and ventilation (The previous Predator suits had barely any room for the skin to breathe, requiring the actors to take frequent breaks), hence they look buff
There needs to be a Predator series done. Following the Yautja on their home planet and giving us a back story and following them as they hunt on other planets against other alien life forms and not just humans or Xenomorphs. Best bit would have to be no humans in it and no cheesy Hollywood BS just based on the Predators and done in a dark cool futuristic way. That would be awesome. After the last crap film and the way they turned into a cheese fest with the worst human characters and storyline ever I fear it'll never get done or the next Predator film will be just as bad if not worse. A film needs to be done by a true fan and with no humans in it. If they did that I could die a happy man.

This movie was WAY better than Requiem. Cause you can actually see what the fucks going on cause it’s not so damn dark.
Requiem by itself was already a pretty bad movie (aside from maybe Wolf solo hunting), but that darkness just took it down to horrendous. 💀 Seriously, one time I watched that movie and never again. I'm still pissed that THAT was the sequel to this movie, which I loved!

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed the Ultimate Predator and the Fugitive Predator but the movie itself wasn't good. Shane Black did a terrible job at it.

Man these predators were thicc compared to jungle and city hunter. I really enjoyed this scene. The limits of PG-13 were pushed pretty far. It was cool to see how the director brought predator tech into the 21st century.
Now if it was 22nd century, well......humans might have the advantage against these creatures. For example, tech implants in their bodies or AI supporting humans or advanced weapons. Something like that

There's nothing special in that. Because they just invade a hive in large groups and literally drag the Queen back to their ship.
It was likely the Clan Leaders as if a Yautja is able to wipe out an entire Xenomorph hive they rank up to a Clan Leader.
Unless it is only when they've achieved the ranking by collecting three Xenomorph Queen heads am I completely wrong.

The only Yautja that can capture or even kill a Queen Xenomorph are Clan Leaders.
@@kaijuar2003 If it comes to capturing the queen for her to lay eggs that could be used to produce drones ect. to hunt them later, the code is secondary as it's not an actual hunt but completing the objective/mission for the sake of future hunts. This is one of very few exceptions where the code is secondary. And no, not only clan leaders are capable of killing a queen. Some elite hunters and nobles can do so too.
Tbh in retrospect this movie was actually kind of alright. Like Predators, it feels like it was made by a fan of the original franchise. There are some lore inconsistencies that really bug me personally (the xenos go from facehugger to fully grown adult within less than an hour, the Yautja showing up to hunt in Antarctica despite them thriving and hunting in hot, humid environments, the Yautja growling like tigers for some ungodly reason, xenos being on earth before the events of Alien, thus derailing the dramatic stakes of that series) but it does have some genuinely good horror and action elements that Aliens, Predator, and AvP is known for.
So the big mama is frozen for centuries! Amazing.

Predator needs to be its own franchise.
Technically it has it's own franchise. Humans are always just in the center piece and somehow win. But I get what you mean, a story focused on the Yautja and their hunting of dangerous aliens seems pretty cool.

As much as I love Jason, I think the Predator would win. The Yautja have very advanced technology which would destroy him. Plus they're trained to hunt/kill the most dangerous species in the universe. Jason only has a machete and is very strong.

As a major fan of the predator alien universe and even playing every single game released, the moment I saw the AVP movies start being released I had so much hope....but such a let down. Still cool armor in these scenes.

@@shawbros These were dark times. The path to the school ran through Mordor. Raptors hunted younger students. In front of the school, we helped the adults kill the mammoth. This film was the first in color, and other tribes came to see this miracle.
