    Foods you can eat one handed are great postpartum! A lot of times you are eating while you hold your baby, so muffins, breads, breakfast sandwiches, hard boiled eggs - anything you can eat 1 handed is super convenient!

    This video brings back SO many memories of when I set up my first baby's nursery.... LOL that was in 1988! I remember being so nervous and wanting to have all the things.... I feel like baby could have lived for a week and survived any medical possibility out of his diaper bag with all the stuff I carried around all the time! But then by baby number 4 in 1998, I had the tiniest of diaper bags and only carried around a couple extra diapers, wipes, a tiny foldable changing mat, a change of clothes, and a little container of snacks once he got old enough to need them! So much lighter! 🤣 You will figure out what you need... and don't need....as you go. I am so excited for you and your new little one! 💙 It goes fast, Ashlynne. The days go slow, but the years go fast. Savor all these little moments. And thank you for sharing them with us!

    We are all so happy for you!
    I suggest freezing/storing food items in single portions so you can just grab it with one hand because it will be difficult to get out the big portions, get your single portion out, and then refreeze the big portions.

    Recommendation: You should make some lactation cookies just the dough so you can pop them in the oven and have a fresh yummy treat during those late night feeds and it will keep your supply up.

I did a woodland theme for my babies too but I wish I had thought of adding more of a National park twist to it like y’all are too. Especially since my husband and I met at the Grand Canyon! 😂❤ you are definitely more prepared than I was for my first baby! You are gonna be a wonderful mother! Also whenever I ate oatmeal cookies it helped my milk supply a ton!!! Make sure to eat oatmeal bc that is good for breastfeeding- stay away from peppermint things until you are ready to wean. If you have a lactation consultant in the hospital they will help you a TON when you are first starting out. I remember feeling so overwhelmed in the hospital and crying so much but then a nurse helped me at 2 am when I was feeling so tired and defeated and I was able to figure out what wasn’t working when I was trying to breastfeed my baby. So don’t worry if you feel defeated at first, so much of being a mother is you learn as you go!!!! 🤍

    Watching this makes me miss my nesting phase! I loved organizing my baby's dresser. I have an almost 3 mo old, and I would highly suggest having some muslin blankets you don't care about too much for the bath. Lightly swaddle the little one to keep them warm and it catches any poop if your baby poops in the tub like mine.

    So excited for you!
    A few pieces of advice:
    #1 get yourself some good nipple cream, I promise you'll be grateful to have that. I got recommended the "motherlove nipple cream" and OMG was it a life saver! I also used it as a moisturizer for baby.
    Another one: when thinking about food: I'd say try to stay away from foods that produce gas for the first little while. Cause if it causes you gas, believe me that it'll affect the baby more, it'll cause gassiness and colic...after 3 months slowly introduce them back into your diet, and see what your baby can handle and how much...

  • @jenniferswann3312
    @jenniferswann3312 Місяць тому +2

    Congratulations. I'm so excited for you. I just wanted to let you know that things will only stay sterile for 24 hours and that's only if they're in an airtight sterile container.
    As a new mum I would highly recommend you get a UV steriliser. They're so much more convenient because you can wash your stuff, let them air dry and then put them in the steriliser and use them straight away. It only takes a few minutes. With other methods you have to leave them to dry after sterilisation which is a pain and can also mean they're no longer sterile.

    • @lovelyletter7460
      @lovelyletter7460 Місяць тому +1

      I’m not sure if sterilizing is really all that necessary - especially if you have a clean house anyway.
      We just washed everything with soap and water and my son (now 9) was fine and stayed very healthy - still is. Not downplaying it, just not sure it’s all that necessary.

    • @calinacosta8787
      @calinacosta8787 Місяць тому +4

      Agree with this! With baby #1 he had a tongue tie and was not latching. A lot of pain and loss of milk.. We ended up getting a frenectomy for him a few weeks later and breastfeeding worked out but we ended up having to combo feed- formula plus breastfeeding using Bobbie formula

    • @Sarae89
      @Sarae89 Місяць тому +3

      I agree. I didn’t pump because it added too much stress. Having the formula helped me feel okay in case I had issues. Plus we started using it for cereal when the age came.

    • @lucyjackson6879
      @lucyjackson6879 Місяць тому +4

      I'd definitely agree with this! I was unable to breastfeed and had to send a family member out to buy formula in a rush! Keep it sealed and then if you don't use it you can donate 😊

    • @farina7349
      @farina7349 Місяць тому +15

      I must strongly disagree. Except a small percentage of women WHO are Not physically able to breastfeed. If you have Problems breastfeeding, i hope you can immediately contact a Consultant who will Help you. If you decide to give Up, you still have time to buy Formula. Buying Formular beforehand is in my opinion Sending a wrong Message to your self. Trust your Body and your Nature (or your Consultant ;)))

    • @kirsten9323
      @kirsten9323 Місяць тому +11

      Having faith in yourself is important and great but having a hungry baby and nothing to feed him with gives you stress you dont need after giving birth.
      Having a small amount of formula on hand is very wise.
      I just had my baby and in the first week, I didnt produce enough milk yet or he was not able to drink properly. I was happy we had a small amount of formula in our house to tide us over untill I started pumping (the same day).
      Also, when you pump it is not guaranteed that you immediately produce enough to feed your baby

    Don't worry about having too many clothes for each age/ size in the future. You kid'll hit growth spurts just before or during or after seasons change. You'll just be reevaluating the clothing situation every few months for the next 18 yrs. So, connect with another mother whose baby is maybe 6 mo. Ahead of yours. No, a year. No...2 yrs.

  • @nilamia75
    @nilamia75 Місяць тому +2

    I'm wondering why you are on the hunt for stuff for when the little one is a bit older, as in general you are very intentional with buying things. I think one can plan a lot but in the end you will learn what you need once he is there and every mother, every baby and life is different. And for cloths specifically I'm wondering about how to predict his sizing throughout different seasons. This is not meant to be critique, just serious questions.

    Wow! You’re so organized! The nursery looks great! My son is 9 now but I just remember postpartum being the hungriest days of my life. I was literally pumping an insane amount of milk 10-12oz total every few hours. I just sat on the couch munching on nuts (and anything else I could get my hands on!). The baby weight dropped off super fast from pumping so I highly recommend. And freezing the left overs flat in breast milk bags so they store better.
