Would you rather ride a train, dance in the rain, or feel no pain?
Is there a wrong answer to this question?

They do exactly that. The SAD only recruits from former special operation group members. Joining the CIA is one thing, doing clandestine field operations in the CIA are another. The recruitment process for each are nothing alike.

I agree with that and they do use them for paramilitary work but the farm is different it is a mind game more so than the nearest military equivalent the Green Berets. The farm assessment is a mixed Spy/paramilitary school that addresses. Green Berets are trained to do the exact same things to include spy work but do not get trained in tradecraft until the get to a Group and only the best get trained in Advanced Tradecraft.

I always tell people who don't understand the espionage genre to watch this movie as their homework.

Many are from Special Forces, but even they have to go through new types of training. What Special Forces do and what the CIA do are usually two different things, though the CIA does also have Para Military Type Units conducting those types of efforts.

No. That was in the old days. Nowadays, they've expanded their search for talent :P

Become fluent, and I mean near or perfect fluent in at least three languages, one of them being, Chinese, arabic, farsi, or korean. bonus if you speak two or more of those. stay in shape, if your not ivy or high scores, practice, study, night classes, community college, you need to be good at something the cia wants, languages, computers, criminal justice, military experience helps, sf even better, but not required. It helps with the mindset needed. I'm spit balling but these are key for sure

You want people without history or ties, one who hasn't been exposed to influence from the Military. Selecting recruits off the street works, as you re-educate them.

@Corbusierronious The CIA gives the government valuable information about foreign lands to defend our country. They make sure to report any threats or rising situations to the higher ups so they can make educated decisions about how to handle it. They keep us SAFE. Though they may have a few moments where they slip up, etc etc, they still try their best! How in any way is that greedy? That's not even close!

This is a good video piece of documentary, but I think they should just get people from the special forces military divisions. They already have what it takes and all you have you do is insert them. Everything from gun and close combat training to stamina and strength both mentally and physically.
