- The next few months will be decisive for both Hungary and the EU, said the French president, Emmanuel Macron, on Friday, adding that the Hungarian prime minister must not be allowed to take the EU as 'hostage'. EU leaders agreed to open membership talks with Ukraine even as it continues to fight Russia's invasion, but they could not agree on a €50bn ($55bn) package of financial aid for Kyiv due to opposition from Hungary.

You do knot know what is behind this. Most of Ukrainian land are now purchased, owned by US interests and to open the EU market for the grains, agricultural goods produced in Ukraine is a strong interest of USA therefore the bought politicians of EU are pushing for Ukraine joining EU and so to access the internal market without limits. Serbia has more advanced conditions yest still not EU member, and Ukraine which is extremely corrupt, is in war, ruined economy, not meeting any preconditions, legally unfit, managed to reach a status in 1 year what Serbia did in 6 years. If Ukraine joins EU, French farmers will be the first to burn down Paris, the Polish then the others
Hungary is an oasis for German pensioners in Europe. Hungary delivers oil, gas and more to Germany very well. Yes, gas and oil from Russia. German companies make profits in Hungary and export worldwide. Hungary knows the communists from the former Eastern Bloc inside out and doesn't want a repeat. Can you imagine that you have a company, a GmbH, and a politician wants to change your company, sends his own cadres, appoints a CEO, sends employees and you have nothing to say? Like now in Poland, where the socialist PiS lost and the pseudo-liberal parties want the digital euro, dollars and no rights for the population? Only if you have the same opinion can you live in the country, otherwise it's goodbye or you get Swedish curtains. The socialists rule in the EU Parliament. The ideological father of the European community turns out to be a little-known Trotskyist who advocates the abolition of nation states and private property. Robert Schuman, Alcide de Gasperi, Jean Monnet and Konrad Adenauer are no longer mentioned in the “White Paper on the Future of Europe”. But Mr. Spinelli. Russia is in Europe partially, bordering the EU directly in the baltics. This cannot be changed it is a fact, exactly for this reason it should retain diplomatic relations to Russia. It is already a miracle so much money was literraly burnt in the fires of war for 0 gain whatsoever.
Also look up the term sovereign mean. Ukraine at this moment is not a sovereign country because it is already bankrupt: unable to sustain itself on its own. If Ukraine strives to be a sovereign country it must be able to be a state on its own without any outside interference.

Hungary is a net recipient of EU money so it's not as if it's any of their money going to Ukraine, they're probably more worried about receiving a smaller handout.
EU money is not a handout. It is owed to member states according to EU law for softening their regulations and adhering to EU rules.
