Thank you Britt! Yes! Cat Stevens! One of the most influential, wonderful words writer & important songsters of that era! A must listen!!! The "whole" album: *TEA FOR THE TILLERMAN...! It's beyond appreciation! Sooo much wonder of his story telling songs.... His message always peace. "PEACE TRAIN"...!
I think some of the best songs speak to a sense of yearning and Cat Stevens' music definitely captures that. I also find his songs to be a beautiful accompaniment to nature or thinking of a loved one who I haven't hugged in a while.
This song is about a shy man, who loves a woman & gets tongue tied, when he’s around her. It’s a beautiful love song & Cat Stevens wrote this song. I believe something like what happened in the song, happened to him.
Cat is a unique talent. And has had an interesting life. Including a conversion to Islam, dealing with some of those prejudices, and left the music scene for a long while. He's an artist too, did the cover art on those 2 early classic albums, Tillerman, and Firecat
In the 70's singer song writer performances were very intimate like a group of friends hanging out in a living room. Dive deeper into his music, he was really intriguing. Also, check out Jim Croce.
My Dad was a huge Cat Stevens fan! He had every Cat Stevens album on vinyl -twice (1 to play and 1 to keep) and went to every one of Cat Stevens London concerts/shows! ❤
300k is just the start, as a 60 year old man from across the pond, I love your reactions. Cat deserves a deep dive...wild world...where do the children play.... morning has broken❤️
I believe he was singing to someone he hasn't met yet. But he knew she existed somewhere. Reminds me of when I prayed for my wife who I hadn't met yet. We did meet in 1999 & celebrate our 25th anniversary in December.
Your reaction was spot on with this beautiful song. Yes, he did need to restart because he knew it didn’t sound right. True that he wanted it right for him and the audience. This song can be interpreted differently depending on whether the lyrics are intending a love once had and now gone or gone like passed on gone. But I think it’s about someone who never was there to begin with and he’s searching for a love he hasn’t met yet. A yearning to be found.
You need to listen to this earlier music my favorites are moonshadow and moon and star, I know you will like these two songs. Cat Stevens does have a real unique way of singing and playing his guitar..... Very soothing
Cat sounds like a perfectionist with his music and making sure his guitar was tuned perfectly while on TV shows it. You can tell that it os the 70s because you would hooked off the stage today for wasting time. The song sounds like a shy guy who gets tongue tied and can't get the words out on how he feels about this woman. He can't find the words, and when she is gone, the words come to him. I think a lot of men have felt this in their life.
The studio version has a wordless, but emotional, female backing vocal during the last verse that adds a haunting, sensual feel. It's as if she does hear his words, and is expressing her pleasure and joy. You should check it out.
There's a Tyler Childers performance video that starts this way. Really grabs your attention. Cat Stevens really has that 60s flower child vibe. Check out "Peace Train".
Britt, you need to review Cat's song "Maybe You're Right" (the in concert version). Then Carly Simon's "Anticipation" which was about waiting for her date with Cat Stevens.
Mazel Tov on 300k It's pre- chromatic guitar tuners days. Boss introduced the TU-12, and a world of guitarist found out their ear wasn't as good as they thought. I got an A-440 tuning fork with my 1st guitar.
He has at least a dozen great hits. Also I'm guessing you haven't been to many rock concerts if you've never seen a guitarist tune his guitar between songs. Some songs they write require different notes.
congrats on 300 K, please please watch this video, the song has very powerful words and the singer is good as well, it was the theme from a movie called Billie Jack
The studio version is much richer because there're are more instruments in the background doing the heavy lifting that he's having to do by just singing wooo woooo. Not the same.
Cat Stevens became Yusuf Islam and as such called for the assassination of British writer Salman Rushdie over a novel he had written and even implied that he could do it. That is what he is.
Hey Britt. I kknow it's been a while since you reacted to her but I was hoping you'd take some of your busy time and react to Angelica Hale sing her cover of Skyfall that she released. I think you might like it as I feel it's one of her best videos yet. Take care and I hope you have a great evening.
These videos harken back to a different time when the performers themselves tuned their instruments themselves. Cat Stevens couldn't proceed with his accompanist out of tune.
Agree!! I have mentioned that very thing many times in the comments!! It's so irritating. And then she wants us to watch TV clips with that dang filter with Dolly in the back!
You have a unique ability to interrupt at the most ridiculous times, and then you pontificate about things that you should have looked into by examining his career on your own time. It's clear that you are just trying to elongate your video with meaningless drivel instead of enjoying what the artist has worked so hard to bring forth. I can see you standing up in the middle of one of his concert songs and interrupting with questions you want the audience to answer, instead of waiting until he has completed his performance.
Are you aware that this artist who wrote “peace Train” put a $1,000,000 bounty on the head of the author of “the Satanic Verses “. I think the author’s name was Salman Rushdie. Since then I won’t listen to him even though I really liked his music.
Seems to me that Steven/Cat/Yusuf had 4 phases to his career. 1st was the young corporate pleaser. Then after being sick in a hospital, he began a spiritual journey. This video is in that 2nd phase. 3rd he walked away from music & celebrity to start a family in a Brit-Islamic way. This is when he built private schools & became an advocate for education regardless of gender or faith. Now Yusuf is in his 4th phase of melding faith, music & celebrity to champion the best of the human spirit. He's written so many wonderful songs, I hope Britt chooses to hear a couple recent ones by Yusuf Islam along with the classics of the 60's & 70's.
His music is a huge part of my teenage years. Thanks for the memories and reaction,
Same here!!!! Those were the days!!!!
Same!
My favourite of his is Morning has Broken but all his songs are very evocative and as you said, very gentle.

This is one of my all time favorite songs ever. The studio version is even more incredible. ❤❤❤
This is such a beautiful song. My parents played Cat Stevens for me when I was growing up, this song always brings back memories of my childhood.

Tea for the Tillerman
Teaser and the Firecat
What a great love song written/sung by one of the greats.
I'm sorry, but I never heard this song from him. I'm 64 so I grew up listening to him! Great reaction, Britt!!!!!!
From his first album "teaser and the fire cat" where you find "moonshadow", "morning has broken" (but I am 68 😉)
@@nielsmortenfoss6749 Thank you! I'm soon to be 65!
Forever learning.

Bravo Britt on 300K... well earned...always love to watch your reactions because of your analysis and great and real personaility!!!
Thank you so much!!
This song has been played at many weddings.
I’d never of thought that it would be played at weddings..

It’s a song about unrequited love...in his thoughts he’s always walking, talking to her, she can’t hear because it’s all in his thoughts
You need to listen to this earlier music my favorites are moonshadow and moon and star, I know you will like these two songs. Cat Stevens does have a real unique way of singing and playing his guitar..... Very soothing
Thanks for choosing this poignant song by such a talented man

You can't go too far wrong with Cat Stevens. Maybe just start with the first album, Teaser and the Firecat, and just keep going.
Congratulations on 300k
Hard Headed Woman is one of my favorites by him.
OH I love the new hair !! Sweetie, Cat stevens is not as tame as he sounds... ... love you darling

he does the sound of silence for a sec at the front, very funny. Good song, I love Cat.

Beautiful man. ❤ my dad gave me his tea for the tillerman lp when I was 15. it changed my life
I would love for you to check out Air Supply - All Out of Love. It may be PDC worthy!
Its called tuning.
Cat Stevens my first record Tea for the Tillerman he is such a talented man he did all the artwork on his albums
The good 'ol days when half the concert was tuning. Worth it though, we got the real stuff.
Beautiful hair, Britt!

He has at least a dozen great hits.

Checkout Oh Very Young- Cat Stevens.
What other thing there are wordsmiths and there are wordsmiths at Cat Stevens is one of the best
I came back to see if you fixed the screen problem, I guess not, I'm. still seeing a faded out screen with water drops
She does that for copyrights. It is irritating as many of these will not be a problem and don't need it.
@@brada1136 I would rather she just put a black bar through the video instead of the "rain filter".
Best artist for lullaby's ever tfs
It’s a love song, Britt, but you can be sad if you want. 😂
300k❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊
He's tuning his guitar
Should have tuned up before the song.(lol)...when you use a capo, it will, quite often throw the tuning out of whack.

At Steven’s is know known as Yusuf Islam because the became Muslim
Nicely done,Britt!👍🏻
But: Cat Stevens got so many great songs, hits. Why would anyone choose this song for a reaction?🤷🏼♂️
Lesser known but still great. I appreciate it's not the same old hits.
They're tuning up. The two guitars were not at quite the right pitch.
