It seems odd that such masters of horror and suspense could be so good at comedy, yet it also makes perfect sense. They all rely on a good sense of timing, they just apply it in different ways.
Comedy is probably the hardest film genre to create. It not only relies on good timing but convincing actors. It’s the reason why so many iconic comedians are also incredible actors

That's incredible! I watched them when I was younger, about 12, but didn't see them again until I re-discovered Peter Lorre just last year. I'm now 19! I have a feeling I'll be watching them again and again for as long as you have
There must have been a lot of takes where they just broke down laughing. I can imagine they were constantly trying to crack each other up. A lot of talent there.
The Raven is an underappreciated classic from Roger Corman. It may only be loosely adapted from Poe's original poem, but it still works. I remembered the part where Price and Lorre folded the covers on the coffin, and then Lorre just flings it behind him. I could hear the "yeet" coming up. Nice touch.
I think Vincent Price, was at heart, a comedian. I realize he was excellent at serious, villain roles, but whenever he was interviewed, he was always so tongue-in-cheek
Pure genius (again) for A.l.P and Corman to team all these veterans of the classic 1930's together having the well deserved time of their lives and still leave us wanting for more. Great job, Thanks for posting!
Comedy of Terrors is one of my favourite movies... Everyone is at their sardonic and comic best in it. And yes, Price and Lorre are chaos and I'm here for it 😆 The whole Poe series peaked when they got those two together.
@@Collager Yeah, I've heard that about him. This appearance was at the beginning of a seemingly long career where he worked in several more. Try "Easy Rider"(early), "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"(middle), and "A Few Good Men"(late).
This is such a fun movie to watch, makes one wonder why these great actors rarely were allowed to show that they all could do comedy and do it well. Rathbone was a perfect straight man. 😂
In Tales of Terror, they had a bunch of black cats audition. There's some delightful photos of them playing with the cats, including Vincent trying to balance a cat on Peter's head :D
I cant help but die laughing when when peter lorre knocks over the candle and says "At leasts its better in the dark" And vicent price says "What is, decapitation?"
It's a pity both actors are dead, it would've been great for these two to get there own tv show, set in Victorian London, chasing Jack the Ripper, played by Kenneth Williams.
WHAT THE FREGGIN’ HECK IS GOING ON?!???🤣🤣 I never expected these two would be this chaotic together, and I’m living for it!!!🤣🤣 also you nailed that “Spooky” intro! And idk why but this 6:00 line had me ded💀😆 and the part where Peter Lorre steps on Vincent Price’s hands and he’s like “What did your shoes step on”🥴 and many more!
My favorite part is when Peter gasps and Vincent goes "Did you speak??" 🤣🤣🤣 That part just kills me every time. And thank you!!! The spooky intro was fun to do, hehehe!
This has been one of my most favorite movies since childhood. My grandmother and I would watch it every time ir was on tv. Now I have it on disc and watch it with my family. ♥️
I can't with this. EVERY GASP from Peter Lorre made me laugh so hard. This was comedy gold. LOL XD But I'm offended that you put real footage of me fighting a spider on the internet. >:c
Vincent Price , Peter Lorre Boris Karloff , Lon Chaney , Lon Chaney Jr , Bela Lugosi Watch these guys ever since I was a young kid now nothing scares me
If Lord of the Rings had been made back in the day, these two would have been a great Saruman / Wormtongue duo. A little less comedic than these clips, maybe, but they definitely have the energy for the roles.
This looks like my kind of ridiculous chaos. I've watched plenty of their movies but never these. Also let's hear it for the Peter Lorre sized girls lol

@@Collager I love Alice in Wonderland! ❤️
Because Poe wrote on both of them!🤣
"I NEVER confessed! ... They just *proved* it!" That one got me rolling.
Only Peter Lorre could deliver that line so casually and yet so devastatingly to the audience.
caught me so off-guard.
absolutely perfect delivery.
so casual that you never stood a change.
It seems odd that such masters of horror and suspense could be so good at comedy, yet it also makes perfect sense. They all rely on a good sense of timing, they just apply it in different ways.

Makes sense these two were cracking jokes at Bela Lugosi's funeral.
Peter Lorre said "Shouldn't we stab a stake through his heart ❤️?"
I love that imagery in my mind lol
Thats just a myth, neither Lorre, Price nor Karloff (sadly) came to Belas Funeral

Price and Lorre were a perfect combo, they should have made more macabre comedies.
They were gonna star in their own detective show, but the pilot was never picked up.
These two coined the phrase "Who Dat!"

Agreed.
They added a wizard battle, just as Poe intended.
@@c.f.enriquez9334 Yes it's obvious Poe had meant for the wizard battle to take place in his story.
