Looks no really advantage for anyone with a NT USB mini. Evan the software is really no different to the existing Connect app. Besides some “red X” branding seems a cash grab from Rode.

I would love to hear a comparison between these two versions. I was so hyped when I saw you had both :)

There's like a $60 price difference between the XCM 50 and NT-USB mini where I live. Which one should I get?

Would have been nice to hear it with a boom arm in the way most streamers would use it. Agreed the stand is useless. As are all included usb mic stands. Why don't company's get it. They do, they just don't want to provide the extra materials to make the height correct. Crazy. They all do it. It's all about saving money. Anyway, the mic sounds horrible as we all quickly realized.the second you were almost 2 feet away from the mic. I have the nt usb mini and it sounds great up close. This to me has all the vocal effects/sound pads in the software and the biggie, the ability to record. Get right up on the mic and you are good to go. Sounds great up close, get a boom arm, use the effects and record and output as a wav 24 bit and edit in Audacity for a podcast. That's where I see this. The recording, effects, custom output options including Lufs for podcast hosts. Podcasters will be good to go for $150 instead of the Rodecaster Pro II. Thanks for the review. Also, may not be true but heard the tuning of this mic is slightly different too.

I think you need to learn how to setup the microphone :) Seen tons of videos where they are further away from the mic and it sounds much crisper.

Great explanation James on comparing these 2 mics. I use the Rode NT USB mic for radio recording from home, and it's great. I accidentally dropped it the other day - no problems. It's a rugged piece of equipment that wasn't damaged. I agree,James, about the height problem. In my home set up I mount in on some books with a rubber base and stand in front to record, surrounded by a cloth box for noise deadening. Works quite well. The new XCM 50 doesn't really interest me, but Rode is the best anyway.

Question - if I enable some effects & settings on windows using the RØDE Connect software. Will it be carried over to other devices, like my PS5 or iPad. Bcz I cannot install any software on those devices to control this mic. Please can you answer???
I am looking forward to use this only on my PS5 for streaming, gaming recording. I saw that this has a NOISE GATE built in which is triggered by the software. And software is only on Windows & Mac. So what I'm thinking is, I'll connect this mic to my windows laptop, enable noise filter & then take this to my PS5/ipad. But i need to know if the setting done on windows software will work on ps5/ipad.

The NT-USB Mini doesn't have a built in DSP audio processor chip and needs RØDE Connect to have processing but the XCM 50 has a default DSP setting when not connected to the RODE X Unify Software, if am not mistaken it has all processing on by default so noise gate @75hz compression on, aural exciter on as well as big bottom, that was my out the box experience anyway when using the XDM100 however changes made in Unify to settings get saved to the system the app is running on, so not saved to the microphone DSP chip, for me tweaked settings don't work when Unify is closed even after getting the latest firmware update I don't know if this will change in the future, using the XDM100 , the mic and it's processing is fantastic but the RODE X Unify Software is a pain, if you plan on steaming using it, expect to throw your setup out the window haha anyway I hope this helps
