I did this plus changed the fan blade in the back and ptac still loud as soon as the compressor comes on. Premaire ptac. You also skipped a couple of things you have to take off besides the covers. Gotta slide the coils out as well and take the screws off from the sides as well.
Hello Josh I would check to see if you have a tubing vibrating against another, noisy or loose fan motor. If not you may have a compressor going out. If you are removing the the blower motor housing it's not necessary to remove the evaporator coil
I love your videos, bro. Every time I look up ptac you come up lol , I have a question if you can help, the blower wheel will not shut off on the GE ptac, , I swapped the unit out just to see and the new unit. The blowerr wheel will not shut off as well , The thermostat has six wires plugged in , It could be a bad thermostat, but we didn't have any more to swap it out , It's not the fan in the back. It's the front, will fan looking thing lol ,
Hey brother, thank you for these useful videos, im a subscriber. Do you have anything on PTACs that do a loud thump when the compressor shuts off? I have an amana unit and each time the compressor turns off it does this loud thump like someone is kicking it from outside.
thank you bro, I have one question . I have same unit when set to heat and when I touch it , I feel half way warm air and half way( left side) cold , even if I closed vent control from back side. What do you think? thank you.
Hey Betty I had cases where if I didn't close the back vent completely shut some of the cold air would still leak through. So if you can screw that back completely shut. Let me know what happens and thank you for watching!!
Ok bro so I have a Frigidaire ptac unit that produces a hummin noise as long as it’s plugged in. It doesn’t matter whether the unit is on or off. The hummin sound doesn’t go away. Have you ever come across something like that ?
Hey bro quick update. I replaced the transformer on this unit but the humming is still an issue. After investigating I noticed the humming noise is coming from the compressor. So I checked the compressor but it seems to be ok. It cools fine too. Any suggestions?
@@PtacSolutions I checked the motor and it’s ok. I also noticed that the run capacitor was a little low. Went ahead and replaced it. The humming actually goes away but every 30 seconds or so it hums as long as the unit is plugged in
@@PtacSolutions it's kind of funny, I looked and noticed that it wasn't even bolted in, it was just seated in place. So, when I pushed on it, the noise went away. All I had to do was bolt it in. Thanks for responding though. I'll keep that in mind for future ptacs.
The ptac is making the same noise again. It happens when it's on or off. It's like when air from outside rubs through the ptac, there's something rattling making a whiny, buzzing kind of sound. Have you heard of that before?
Thank you. Started as hotel maintenance, and this video helped a lot with a PTAC workorder I had today.
Awesome glad it helped out!
Same
Thanks for your help, i got promoted to cheif engineer and i have been fixing these all day!
Hey Reuben
Congratulations! I'm glad to hear that these videos have been helpful

@@PtacSolutions it was a bad compressor.

Going through all of the noises you have made videos for. Haven't found it yet. Dang.

What do you press to control the unit without using the thermostat?
Gracias amigo. Good job.

Yes check the transformer
@@PtacSolutions thanks a lot! Will do that

David where r u located? we are in Austin Tx
Hello,
I'm in Houston
I use a automotive stethoscope when i cant pinpoint the noise by sound to sight quickly.
I stock blower wheels, main boards, caps and transformers. anything else and it just makes sense to swap it out with a new one for $750
I agree, trying to replace anything with the sealed system is going to be more costly than to replace the unit
So u have a business that sells parts?
@@weslawsonsilverback Hey Wes, well not necessarily, but I can get parts for you if you need
@@PtacSolutions ok ill keep u on speed dial
Mine is making a weird whining kind of sound during both heat and cool
Hello
That could be the bearing on the opposite side, check if the blower wheel got loose
