Congrats on the Baillons! It was nice to chat to you and Richard briefly and I'm amazed to see how many different species you caught! I only managed 3 fish on the Wednesday - a corkwing and two of the little pouting but being a total noob to LRF I was quite stoked with that. I will definitely take your advice and get some smaller hooks for my next attempt.👍 Great video, I also like that you include some B-roll, it shows what a lovely venue Swanage is. Cheers, Robert.
Thank you Robert. Was nice chatting too. My session was massively unexpected so don't look at that total too much. That was a freakish day really. You did well you get anything other than a Pouting on Wednesday! They were getting to the bait first for 95% of the day. Hopefully the smaller hooks work. They did for me. I only started LRF in December 2021. I soon realised that small outfishes everything. Just trust the process. Let me know how you get on next time. Glad you enjoyed the video too. I like to show what I see during a session and is a nice way to keep the interest I think. Feel free to sub if you haven't already? Plenty more videos to come
Thanks Dan, another great video, good haul for the day. My top five, as you asked, Long spined sea scorpion, Tompot blenny, Leopard Spot goby, Sand goby and Goldsinny Wrasse all caught from my usual fishing ground around Portsmouth and Gosport.
You're welcome Alan. Glad you enjoyed it again. Lovely top 5 that. I love catching them all (except flipping Pouting!) But there are some truly special ones and was blessed to have 4 in one day. Crazy
Cracking video Dan! Well done on a fantastic session. I’ve only caught one of the “special species” to date, my first Baillons a few weeks ago from the same mark. Those sand smelt answered a question I couldn’t work out when I was at Swanage, what the small fish were! I thought maybe mullet fry, glad I know now, I’ll target them next time!
Thanks James. It was one of those freakish once in a blue moon sessions. Everything just fell into place. Well done on your Baillons. They are a special one. There were a few shoals of things hanging around mid-water while we were there. There was Pollock, Sand Smelt and Sand Eels. You could see why the Bass were cruising under there all day.
obrigado. é definitivamente um bom lugar para pescar lrf. tantos peixes usam aquele lugar como sua casa. O Baillons Wrasse é muito raro por aqui e não é encontrado em muitos outros lugares.
Wicked days fishing. You two travelled some miles that day! Gutted i didnt bump into you guys wednesday evening, i nearly popped down (as I live close to Weymouth pier) But my back still isnt really up to it 😖
Cheers Karl. It's was a day that kept on giving. Sorry to hear about your back. A few more weeks and you will be having the p taken out of you. Took me 8 days to fish remember haha
Black Bream has to be one of my favourite fish to catch - up there with Bass and Mackerel - all fantastic fighting fish. Impressive session and fabulously filmed once again. Tell me pls, what is the one book to identify all the UK species?
Bream are tanks aren't they! They go like fish twice their size! This is the best Identification book. Worth every penny. Use this link and I get a little kick back 😊 www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1904690637/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_gl_i_T9ZPF8K71YMG2XYYKYQN?linkCode=ml2&tag=lrfandhrf-21
Next try fishing the slipway the people were crabbing on that you walked past before stone pier Weymouth , interesting things swim past on a high tide .
@@topfuelteddy thank you. There is a very good chance of one if you fish small enough as the ones there have tiny mouths. Feel free to sub. I'm heading back up there next week to film.
Really do like the format of your vids. I.e. not a lot of chatter you merely put points of interest on the screen. Ps what was the rope for (blue climbing rope just before the bass incident) I ask as I happen to climb as well.
Thanks. Yeah I'm not one to shove irrelevant conversations onto people watching. Too many videos have stuff relevant to the person but pointless to everyone else. Like to keep mine snappy and to the point. That rope was being used by guys repairing the pier. They had massive joists hanging from it while the drilled and screwed it from a dingy.
Thank you. Feel free to sub 😉 this is the book I use as do must others in the LRF world. Great book and worth every length as it has loads of info on each fish amzn.to/3R7RPkK
Thanks mate. We have parked on the pier and paid for the fishing at the same time both time we went. We got there as the gates opened at left at 5. Think it was £22.50 for parking and both of us fishing.
Yeah. It goes into the upkeep of the pier I think. Worth checking the website before you go if you do. Was a wedding in the Upper deck the day we went. www.swanagepiertrust.com/fishing
Have you ever eaten wrasse? There is only a few species I would keep for the tsble and only of i think i will use them quickly but i was thinking a wrasse cstch and cook moght be interesting
I don't eat any fish personally. Not a fan. Give me a steak any day! Eating Wrasse is frowned upon over here and no one ever does really. As they are so slow growing, the bigger ones are prized and cherished here. A trophy we'd be happier to swim back strong than dead.

Probably my two most fished places, glad you had a cracking day 👍🏻
You're lucky to ba able to fish them both. Its a long old trek to Swanage from me. 2 and a half hours each way, including picking up the lerf legend

I don’t have a top five as I rarely fish at the coast but I do like catching flounder when I can.
Esse lugar é top para prática dessa técnica de pesca, Parabéns por mais um excelente vídeo 🎣

Awesome. It's a very detailed book

I honestly can't remember seeing a slipway? What swims passed?
It’s where the big yellow welly boots are to in your video , I’ve seen bass an mullet cruise through and a seal lol
Ah. At Weymouth. Fished there s couple of times. Goby heaven
Going to Weymouth in the next few weeks, would love to catch a bream , great video .

Great session always wanted to try swanage is it OK for parking up there?
Broad rd car park always has spaces and its only a few min walk from the pier
