You should harvest the aloe seeds before they split. When they are ready they change color from green to slightly brownish green. Then they should be collected in a secure covered tray and left to do the splitting. Even if you collect them before they are ready I think the seeds will still be OK, and germinate.
Planted mine the same as cactus & euphorbias, I am growing aloe ferox right now, and they were planted in the same container as my pachycereus, saguaro & ferocactus. I only had 3 seeds and all have grown to almost 2 inches tall, they are 1 year old. From Morris park in the Ozarks , have a great night!!!
Nice big seeds! Funny how so many seeds are designed to go flying! I guess that’s so it will multiply in nature. wait to see what babies they produce! 🌵💕😀
Great video Ana 😊 Hopefully you’ll get some interesting looking hybrids from cross pollinating those two Aloes. I’ve not been successful with pollinating Aloes yet, my aristata did get a seed pod form a year or two ago, don’t know how as I didn’t pollinate it and bees definitely didn’t as it’s indoors, but the seed pod was empty 🤔 Maybe it cracked open and the seeds flew out 😂 I’d sow these the same way and in the same conditions as I would cactus seeds. Thank you for sharing with us Ana. From Edith & myself, have a wonderful day 🌵🏜☀️🌸🌼☕️
That was really awesome, Ana! I had to wait after work to comment. 🥰 i saw the notification as soon as i woke up but was rushing off to work. your plants are looking great considering the fluctuations of temperature there. I wish we could be as successful with pollination as you are. This is an inspiration! Loved the beautiful plants of your subscribers too. 😍 Thank you for sharing. ❤️
Now I feel like I want to pollinate every flower again of my aloes. Lol. Hmm.. What if I cross pollinate a cactus and and aloe? 🤔 I might get a freak plant. 🤪 Thank you again Daz and Edith! Edith, take care there and wear a mask always. 😷
I haven't deliverately germinated aloe seed. But I have an aloe hybrid called "Pickled Pink" that blooms in my south window at least once every year. Usually the odd seed falls into the pot and one germinated. I left it there. Very, very slow growing but it is starting to look like a real plant after a couple of years...Can't tell yet what kind of markings it is going to have, if any. Yours may grow faster in your southern location. I live in Canada where they have to put up with low light conditions for quite a while.
Ferne Dalton, wow, you grew an aloe from seed without even trying! That is so cool. Fingers crossed that I get these seeds to germinate. Thanks for sharing your experience. 🙂☕️
Hi Ana, I very much enjoyed your video today. I hope the cross pollination of Lizard Lips /Oik has produced a hybrid aloe. I wonder what name you'll give it? I don't know a thing about pollinating aloes but sure hope it doesn't take years for the new one to appear. Thank you for featuring my lovely Easter Lily cactus in your Subscriber Spotlight. It's so nice to share with other cactus lovers the beauty of these cacti.
I am hoping my echinopsis can produce as much flowers as yours! Yours is a super, super bloom! Mine are relatively younger, though. 🙂 I’m excited to plant these seeds and see how the new aloes will look like. 😃☕️
I love Lyn and Hans’ videos. I always watch them and learn a lot. She is one of the reasons I decided to pursue taking care of cactus! 🥰🌵🌵 Thanks Cheryl!
Hi from Ohio Ana! I enjoy your videos!! Last month you gave me some advice about my golden barrel cactus that is growing up instead of around. I got some black gold cactus soil, the kind you use. I'd like to repot my barrel cactus, because it needs it or should I wait until spring? O, btw my husband and I are serious coffee drinkers!! Blessings Jill Park
I just found this video. Yikes yeah you leave the bags on until the pods open. Then cut the stems so you don't lose the seeds. they open why dry and the seeds just fall out easily. I'm glad you got some. Definitely keep the other pods bagged and let the seeds fall into the bags. Easy. You don't have to keep watching to hope you don't lose them. I've got some ceropegia that have made pods. They are like milkweed and have parachute seeds. I don't want my seeds to fly away so I will put nets over them like this too.
Hi I brought my cacti and succulents inside this winter and im so confused its warm in the house and they all seemed dry and looked like the needed water so i have watered them i also got some of the fertilizer you suggested and gave them a drink of that and they all seem to be happy and it has still be frosty some mornings (i am in eastern washington state) so im not sure when to put them back out? They are getting light from a big east facing window. PS I love your nails!!
Thanks Jill! I wouldn’t put them back out until there is no more forecast of frost. I keep mine in a heated greenhouse at a temperature not lower than 45F. Those that are not in the greenhouse, I cover the rack with burlap or frost blanket if temperature is in the 30’s or lower.
Hi Ana! My aloe snowstorm recently sprouted a bloom with beautiful pink flowers. The flowers heads are still closed, and of course my cats knocked over my entire plants and the bloom’s stem broke. I cut it off and put it in soil for now. I was wondering if you have any advice on saving the bloom now that it’s broken off from the mama?
Madina Kochkorova oh no! 😱 I am not sure if the flower will still develop when in water. I haven’t had that experience. I know other succulents will like aeonium but I’m not sure about aloes.
Cactus Caffeine ive put it into its own soil and gave it a little water but not too much. Wish me luck. The flowers would’ve been the prettiest bright pink!
What sort of heater do you have in your green house i am looking for one for my own green house i live in the southern hemisphere and we can get down to zero
Dear mam plz make a video on how to plant aleo seeds, bcoz my Aleovera is blooming it has beautiful orange flowers , my father and i have seen Aleovera flowers first time in our life, but dont know what to do with this beautiful flower.
Those aloe seeds seem so fragile to handle. Ot will be cool to see those come out! I thought that is so cool you asking others for advice/help on staring those seeds! Wow some of your spotlight fellow growers have some beautiful gardens. Very serious about the cactus life!!! Great video and I hope with your up and down weather month to month all your plants will come through. Hello Ana how are you today! Great vlog and thank you! Take good care 🌵☕🍺🌵
Hi Tim, thanks for stopping by! I appreciate that you really watched all the way to the end. Yes, many of my viewers have more spectacular collections than I do! I learn a lot from them as well so I also ask for their help: 😃 Kampay Tim! 🍺☕️

Thank you so much, Winston! Really helpful. 🙂🌵☕️
How exciting to gather seeds from a plant you have crossed pollinated yourself! We will anxiously await the results. Good luck! 😊❤️🌵
Thank you. I am hoping they germinate, too
Hooray Ana, hopefully the seeds germinates and you get to name a new aloe cultivar. Thanks for sharing 💚🌵👍

That is really helpful, Clyde! Wow, they also grow faster than cactus. I like that.
Nice big seeds! Funny how so many seeds are designed to go flying! I guess that’s so it will multiply in nature. wait to see what babies they produce! 🌵💕😀
These aloe seeds bounces too. So when they dropped on the floor, it is hard to find them again. 😄 I hope they germinate.

Thank you! Have a great weekend. ☕️🌵
Yeah, like cactus. Very similar!
Thanks Todd! I will plant it like cactus seeds then.
Desert Plants of Avalon here on UA-cam is amazing for you to watch. Lyn knows her stuff. Good Luck 😉
I love Lyn and Hans’ videos. I always watch them and learn a lot. She is one of the reasons I decided to pursue taking care of cactus! 🥰🌵🌵 Thanks Cheryl!

Hi Anna good morning grabee po pala ang init jan inaabot ng 80 degree
Tessie’s Pachypodium Namaquanum are quite impressive!
I have never seen them get that big! 😃 Her garden is also amazing. She has different kinds of cactus planted in ground.
Hi ! Cactus Haven here😊🌵🌵
Hi Robert. Are you in the Philippines? I thought I saw a recent post of yours from there.
Cactus Caffeine oh I’m back now ... back to reality 😂👍🌵
Hi from Ohio Ana! I enjoy your videos!! Last month you gave me some advice about my golden barrel cactus that is growing up instead of around. I got some black gold cactus soil, the kind you use. Spring is best for repotting. But you can do it now, too. As long as you keep the soil dry. Hahaha. Serious caffeine from coffee and cactus! ☕️🌵😉
Thanks Ana!

I still have the other aloe with seeds pods in a bag. Thanks for the advice. I will keep those bags on until I see the seeds pop out. 🙂

During the subscriber spotlight, what was that palm tree looking plant? I might need to get one of those
I think that is a Pachypodium. I’ve never seen them that big! It is amazing. 😃👍🏼

Oh, I thought only the bloom spike got knocked down. You may have a chance if the flower is still attached to part of the aloe plant. 😉👍🏼
What sort of heater do you have in your green house i am looking for one for my own green house i live in the southern hemisphere and we can get down to zero
My greenhouse is small. 6x4 ft. I use just a space heater that I set on a timer plug. Mine is one that blows air 360 degrees. 🙂
How do you go about planting the seeds and were did you get your white bag to catch the seeds
Hi good morning from the Philippines :) may I know how to plant cactus/succulents from seeds? Thank you. God bless you.
I just got a newly planted aloe seed and named it Mateo. Hope he survives
Dear mam plz make a video on how to plant aleo seeds, bcoz my Aleovera is blooming it has beautiful orange flowers , my father and i have seen Aleovera flowers first time in our life, but dont know what to do with this beautiful flower.
I have orange flowers. No pods? Do they come after flower
Those aloe seeds seem so fragile to handle.

@@CactusCaffeine Anytime Ana😊
Wow I’ve never seen an aloe seed pod or seeds.
Lindos seus cactos 👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍
Have you ever tried propagating a aloe vera leaf from the grocery store
No. Though it can be done, it is a long process. Aloe Vera plant is easy to find here, anyway. 😁
Oh wow we the same name Ana..
Hahaha! My maiden name is also Ana A! 😃
Do you sale your seeds I would like to know if you do
Thank you. I do not sell my seeds. I don’t really know how to do that yet. ☺️ But thank you for your interest.
Do you trade or give away seeds ? Cincinnati Ohio
