This is the easiest way I've seen to do diorama embers! So many other creators use cotton and tons of lights. I need to add coals to the inferno base for my fiery Pegasus, and this is the perfect solution.
Absolutely love how this turned out! I really love how inexpensive this is to create! Thank you for sharing. Mary looks really happy to sit near her fireplace.
Thank you SOOOO much for posting this! I’ve been using my social distancing time to rekindle my interest in building dollhouses, but I had no idea I could make my own stones & lighting!
Happy New Year!!!!, and thanks for sharing the take on wiring especially changing the little plug. Looking forward to seeing the floor covering, again thanks!!!!😆😆😆
I have completed my fireplace too so I have a battery with a little light thing I took off a Xmas decoration. I hope I can fit it. You are making it easier for me lol! I really should have thought of this first! I think I can make the holes though! You know when I was growing up the lady next to us in the country used to babysit us and she was just like this lady. She had a fire like this and she used to cook stuff on it like pancakes and oat cakes. I always have great memories of her so this fireplace will be a little tribute. I will stick it up on Facebook or Instagram and tag you accordingly when I get it finished. But I am still looking for the window seat that I remember you doing!
I found these handy little light up earrings that flicker and can be put into little spaces easily without making holes for wires...I think it was Loy at Loy Dollhouse I got the idea from...its such a relief not to have to drill holes!
I don't know how to wire electrical like she did, I'd probably use a battery pack too. They can be hidden in lots of places, a fake present under a tree, in a fake wall, under a closet, above a ceiling with double floor layers. Just make sure you can access the battery compartment to turn on and off, and replace batteries. If she used an LED light, it shouldn't get hot and never needs replacement. I wonder if we can use hot glue instead of silicone? Silicone can handle heat, but if there is no heat, glue should work too I'd think. At the end I noticed she had a stairwell behind the fireplace, which couldn't happen in real life, but it's a cute detail
I plugged the bulb into a connector that attaches to a 9v battery. There is no on/off switch - you just unplug it to turn it off. Here's a link to a similar connector on Ebay: www.ebay.com/i/353314420061?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28
