I like Judy's idea of going into other's homes and helping them with a project. Glad I found this, as the granddaughters are interested in making clothes.
This is a delightful video! Thank you, for sharing how to recreate a pair of leggings and your fun day. It’s so nice to have friends to laugh with. God bless.
Hey, It feels so good to make something yourself. (& w/assistance, too 😃 🙂 😉😉). I just recently moved & right now, my sewing room is a total mess. Enjoyed, you'll inspired me...thank you.
What a sweet friendship! Judi's pants turned out fantastically! 😊 P.S. I haven't sewn in over 20 years. Having grand babies has inspired me to start back up and you've helped me so much! Thank you for making these videos!
Loved this format, I also need to hear the same details you explained to her. Videos usually skim through adjusting the pieces together before sewing. That's why you are my favorite. It feels like going to class
I’ve been sewing for years but this is the first time I’ve seen a demo of cloning sports leggings (or any leggings or anything, for that matter!) and your lovely video has given me the inspiration to have a go myself. Thank you so very much, Catherine! (Karen, watching in UK)
This was fun to watch. And having your friend sew them herself will give her confidence so that she won't hesitate to make a second (third? fourth?) pair on her own later on.
That was fun! I was going to work on ancestry stuff today, but that was so fun, I've decided to sew instead. 🙊😆. BTW, Judy seems to be as lovely and fun as you. If you guys ever do a sewing retreat I'm in!
You should make Judi your permanent sidekick. You have a beautiful dynamic there. I like Judi's idea of a road trip, if you ever find yourself in Ireland, i have at least 5 projects i havent been brave enough to start yet!😂
Well I think I need to be yours and Judy’s bff! lol. Tell Judy I really need that yoga pants pattern. She’s right it is the perfect yoga pant with the perfect height of waistband and width of waistband that’s not easy to find lol. I’m so glad you made this video. I actually do have a favorite pair of yoga pants from the 90s that I want to make a pattern on in. This is so perfect thank you very much.
One of your best videos! My brain works a lot like Judy’s and the questions she asked and the answers you gave her were easy for me to understand.😊 I know how to sew but get easily distracted and make mistakes.
Thank you for such an informative and fun video. I enjoyed all the chuckles too. P.S. I was admiring your ring before you even mentioned that Judy made it! So cool! ❤️
Thank you Catherine! I so enjoyed the sewing process and the friendship you shared. I’m planning to duplicate a top with a friend soon. I’m really looking forward to it after watching this one!
Thank you so much for that great video! Each time I watch your videos, I learn something new 😊 I always had a hard time traceing. Using a needle/pricking is such a great idea! Simple, but much more accurate 👍
Oooh I have one of those pokey tracing wheels! Never used it before but it would be great for that! It's from like 1955 and came in the original package with a bunch of different colored transfer paper - kind of like carbon paper
You do bomb!!! ("Catie-bomb"...That''s my new name for you) I was one of those folks enquiring about knocking of yoga pants and now I'm so thrilled to have the video! 🤗
Oh good! I was hoping you'd see this one! I really hope it helps you recreate the pants that you love! (Haha, Catie-bomb is a new one! I love it, lol).
You guys are so much fun to watch, thanks for letting me be part of your party... LoL 🤣 I would love to do some of those leggings that do not have a seem down the front or back. (No cameltoe) .
I have just found your channel and have enjoyed every segment. This one, though, had me smiling throughout! Your friendship is fun-and what a good idea! Going to a friend’s house to help them create a project would be (and was!) awesome!
Even if you make every mistake, keep at it. I bought yoga pants on Amz I'm pretty much a beginner. Yep I cut & tried to hem, they were still weird. Finally at last wearable, I'll blame the manufacturer if anyone says anything😊 thanks for all the great teaching!
Judy thanks for making me look at my notification bell. I would love to see you back on here. Awesome job with the sewing and the pants look great on you. We knew you could do it because you have an amazing teacher. Have a beautiful week 😊
Amazing 👍👍👍 !! I would be happy if I have a brilliant sew teacher like you in Hamburg Germany, Catherine 😁👍❣️ Thanks for showing this, who knows I'll cut/sew my own leggings sometimes 😉... Have a fun day ❣️
This reminds me of the first pair of leggings I ever made. My friend had a black pair that I loved to borrow back in the disco age and I copied hers. I knew nothing about zig zag stitches (not a option anyway, as all we had was my granny’s treadle), but they came out wearable anyway! Apparently vibrating shuttle machines make a slightly stretchy stitch, something I recently found out.
Thank you! This yoga pants project is just what I need! My favorite ones are nearly threadbare. It'll be great to make a similar replacement with the right techniques. Once again you make it look so easy! Ty!
That was good fun! Thank you. I learned a really valuable lesson about the top of leg seam. I would have cut the front and back the same wondered why it didn’t work!? Now that you have pointed it out and shown us how to deal with it, I will be on the watch for that. Great video. Mx
I always like seeing the way you create patterns from clothing items, but I found it difficult to follow the pattern creation in this one. It seemed that your friend was able to follow because she was there with you but I got lost.
I feel like if they'd use a pale gray fabric it might've been a lot easier to see & follow what's being done. Hard to see any details because they're lost in the jet black fabric.
Wow this is a great video!! The two of you are so fun together makes me want to join in. Anyway I've just found you and have subscribed. Now to have a go at going through the back log
That was a fun video, made me feel like I was with my firends and had fun too! I was wondering if you could add an elestinc on the inside waist band to hold them better and what would be the size of the elastic. Thank you for sharing this video and your friend.💖👏
Yes, I used an elastic at the top of the waistband on a recent video I made on sewing knit pants, and I really liked the effect. Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/jkKEhmnb4UQ/v-deo.html
Really clear instructions! I have some athletic shorts that I’ve wanted to copy for a long time. I feel like I didn’t see you add seam allowance for the leg pieces. Did I miss that?
Just watched this, and I am amazed. I would also like to ask about a new design that does not have a center seam in the front but only in the back. How would you do that using the method in this video?
Ohh that’s a great idea.. “Catherine coming to your house to help you sew your perfect outfit “… Catherine.. do you fancy a wee trip to Ireland and help me??.. ☺️🤣🤣☘️☘️☘️
Heat stuff, like life. And I hate it when my sewing machine growls at me. I had a knee-jerk reaction to yours. Love your style and your clothes aren’t 😅bad either.
Very nice. This information will come in handy in copying other items I want more of. I can't stand leggings (because they will not stay up on me). Am I the only old woman who doesn't like to wear leggings? I never liked wearing tights either.
I'm also not fond of leggings! About 10-12 years ago, when I was in my early 50's, I wore yoga pants that had loose fitting legs...loved those. The snug fitting ones won't stay put...they slide down my hips! So uncomfortable.
@@lynnries7729 Those from years ago were Yoga pants, not leggings. And yes much more comfortable and look better on some of us than tight leggings. I am digging thru box of scrap clothes, seems like I saved a great pair of yoga pants that got a hole in them somewhere. Saved due to great fabric. Enjoyed this video.
Thank you to both of you for this video! Do you have any recommendations for brands and type of surger to buy for beginner sewers that are not too expensive?
Help! I love how great this tutorial is but I’ve had a problem where one side of the leg is 1/2 inch shorter than the other. How do you suggest I fix this? On my leggings I’m copying, the side seams rotate along the legs to the front. I didn’t try to copy that and kept them on the side of the legs. Could that account for my issue? Please help and thank you!
Hi Judie, My name is Judie and I noticed that you spell it the same way I do. I love that! I've noticed that there aren't any "Judie, Judy, Judi" younger than me. I'm not sure how old you are I'm 59. My oldest son told me if he ever gets married and has children he would name a daughter after me. My opinion is that the name (mine is Judith) needs to make a come back.
😊 wonderful job, it’s unfortunate that I couldn’t see what you were doing because it was black on black with black thread. Maybe next time , a lighter color even though you don’t want a pair of yoga pants that color. The point is to make something that we can replicate, right?😊
I like Judy's idea of going into other's homes and helping them with a project.
Glad I found this, as the granddaughters are interested in making clothes.
It’s actually a very good idea.
Of COURSE your friend is as sweet and great as you are ❤
Sew (so) much fun!! You and your friends are hilarious!! You need to make a Playlist for "Sewing With Friends"!! My face hurts from smiling so much!!
Awww, thank you! So sweet. And great idea for the playlist. I'll do that today!
This is a delightful video! Thank you, for sharing how to recreate a pair of leggings and your fun day. It’s so nice to have friends to laugh with. God bless.
I love her reaction, that's how I get every time I sew 😊❤
Great video! Would love more content along these lines- we all have clothes that fit and would be a great source of patterns-
Hey, It feels so good to make something yourself. (& w/assistance, too 😃 🙂 😉😉).

That's wonderful to hear, Karen! You've got this!
Awesome. Your instructions and Judy's execution, fantastic! Looks like you both had fun. 🙂
We definitely had a good time. Thanks for watching!

That’s actually a great idea. The travelling sewing tutor. You can come over and show me how to sew chiffon gowns for Barbie dolls.😂

Haha just awesome. Judi is the perfect person for this video! Great job!!!!
Right!!?? Thanks for watching, Terry!
Awesome tutorial & fun with your friend! I love how you add the sketching in to show where to sew; thanks for sharing! Blessings to all 🤗💜🇨🇦

I've never sewn a lot but always wondered what that pricking wheel tool was for in the hand-me-down sewing notions from my mom. Cool!
You are so welcome! It's great to hear that this video was helpful!
So much fun watching this. Judy is so cute. If you create a sign up list to visit friends to sew, I want to be your friend! :-)))

You are so welcome!
Catherine you amaze me! I am inspired to shorten a cardigan but not sure I’m ready to copy my favorite leggings.
Thanks so much, Claudia! Give it a try; you might be surprised at how great they turn out!
That was amazing!
Great tutorial so easily explained and done thanks Cathrine and judy❤

I have some favorite yoga pants and they have elastic in the waist band. It’s about 3/4 of an inch.
What if the garment you're tracing has gathers
Hmmm, I'll add this to my To Do list!
Yes, Catherine, come to my house and we will set up a regular assembly line of customers❤

Thanks, Janie, but no, I thrifted that sweater and didn't alter it at all!
