Eveyone gets rid of the TRD off road wheels for the TRD Pro wheels so I got the off roads for dirt cheap and in my opinion they are sick no need to upgrade
I’ve sold custom wheels for 17 years and when it come to black wheels I’ve got 2 important things to say: A. Do whatever you want, it’s your money and you rig. Screw the haters B. Satin is the only way to go. Gloss is sexy but immediately dirty thanks to the static that wheels create. Dirt and brake dust literally are attracted to your wheels. Matte is cool when it’s fresh but looks gross and faded after a bit. It’s like that old Metallica shirt that’s been washed 100 times but you can still see the greasy chip stains. SATIN IS ALWAYS SATIN. Clean or dirty, it’s always satin. The problem is that there’s an embarrassing amount of manufacturers who don’t know the difference between Matte and Satin so buyer beware.
That's a great idea! When I bought my 2023 4Runner, it came with the black TRD wheels and they gave me the chrome ones for free with only 4 miles on them. I haven't had much luck selling them. I think I'll look into powder coating them and then try selling them. Thank you!
Thanks for the nice detail video. I like the trd off road wheels but like the TRD pro wheels a bit more specifically the latest concave design over the older one's. Also like the offset on them by bringing out the wheels giving a aggressive stance .
When I bought my Super-White 2019 TRD O/R brand new, I had the dealer include a set of 18" FUEL bronze wheels & the TRD Pro grill... Then I installed 285/65/18 DuraTrac's, and front Bilstein 5100's @ 2.5" with 1.5" Eibach lift springs in the rear. Sold the factory wheels & tires for $1500 Cdn. * I did own a 2014 TRD Sport Tacoma previously, and had switched the factory wheels with 2008 4Runner Sport 6-spokes that I had powder coated satin black.
It looks good for sure.. I prefer some color.. like gunmetal or something but it looks good anyway, and I think they are 1/2" wider than the trd pro ones too.
That is interesting, Not a big fan of the blacked out look. I do have a 2014 Trail with those wheels. Would be interesting to go bronze or gun metal grey to match my truck...Will probably leave them stock (for free)...
I think TRD Pro wheels look good but I've seen them on too many pavement princesses that I'd feel kinda gross putting them on... Basically, I prefer something that doesn't look stock and shows I actually go offroad if I'm paying for aftermarket. If my 4runner came with TRD Pro wheels (mine is a TRD Offroad Premium so it didn't), then I would just leave them on because they still look good
I have 2023 TRD Pro and while they look nice initially, the Pro wheels are a massive PITA to clean, starting to hate them because of this. Would strongly consider this if I could find a set at a good price.
I love these wheels. Mine is 2016 with the silver on the inside. I think it looks so much better than the black inside. The all black looks great too.
One of the best videos I have seen regarding the 4 Runner!
Well played sir. I like them. I just bought an SR5 and want to do this to the wheels.

The wheels look great. There must be several powder coating companies close by, if prices for the service are so low.
Great idea! My only problem with those wheels was how shiny they come- cool fix! And a half inch wider than the "Pros"!
That is true and you can always powder coat to whatever shine you want. I chose Satin Black, but Matte and Flat are options if you want.
I like the look of the TRD Pro wheels so I paid for them and sold the stock wheels in a day ! Lol 😂

I love the trd wheels. I always thought they looked sick.
One combo I’ve never seen but I think would look good is the TRD Off Road Wheels that are powder coated Bronze. Put that on a black or red 4runner

@@thesilveremir i've always thought the same and have been considering doing that to mine

Which wheels are lighter ? Pro or sr5 wheels ?
nice idea thanks!
How much did they weigh before & after?
I didn’t check but it’s very little extra, maybe 2 pounds if I had to guess
@@thesilveremir That's awesome. They look great.
TIRE SHINE. Holy hell even minimal would look a million times better. This guy is worried about wheel look and his tires live in the dessert
Nah too much maintenance when it gets dirty all the time.
