The only problem I have with people issues on Chris assault backstory in pt 3. Is that they use their knowledge of what's established in 4,6,7,8 FvsJ, and remake. To try and dismiss pt 3, but people forget that part 3 is literally the second film with adult Jason. At the time, in 1982 there wasn't much to his character yet. They were still forming and figuring out what they wanted the character to be. He wasn't completely established by pt 2, for people to say he's not capable of this or that.
Not even joking I always thought it would be cool to be Jason’s sidekick when I was a little kid😂 Like Robin to his Batman. I have no such desire as an adult😜
Ive never seen someone tske this deep a look at friday the 13th (besides czsworld and the vile eye but that was more on jason as a whole not the series itself or Jason in each film) this video is so good I'm definitely subscribing now
This is definitely one of the best takes on Friday the 13th's depth I've seen and really got me thinking myself. I don't know if this is how I personally interpret the series or Jason. I personally prefer to view Jason as the campfire ghost story come to life. But I'm glad to see that there's discussion on the substance of this franchise, especially when I think it deserves way more credit than the Halloween franchise when it comes to what it's done for the genre. Thank you for this. This has even reminded me on how I myself have wanted to do videos analyzing the Phantasm and Maniac Cop movies.
Friday the 13th is my favorite franchise as well and your analysis was on point. You should check out the Never Hike Alone franchise they're fan films made by Womp Stomp Films Never Hike in the Snow, Never Hike Alone and Never Hike Alone 2. You can watch Never Hike in the Snow and Never Hike Alone as one film called Never Hike Alone the Ghost Cut and they're on UA-cam but I own them on Blu Ray because I supported Never Hike Alone 2 on the Indiegogo campaign. Anyway they're sequels to Jason Lives 30 years later. Best fan films I've ever watched.
@makingmediamatter Believe it or not, part 3 is my favorite. The thing is with 3, is you have to watch it in 3D. Which I can. Why is 3 my favorite? Richard Brooker. To me, he's the archetype Jason. Ted White in part 4, was just copying what Richard had already done in part 3. & yeah, Chris getting assaulted, & Pamela grabbing Chris out of the canoe was out of place, but those were quick scenes. Pamela bothers me more than the assault. However, that doesn't really take anything away from the rest of the film for me. If you ever get a chance to see that installment in 3D, definitely check it out.
Friday the 13th is my favorite horror franchise and it’s always a good time to watch videos about it. The Final Chapter is my favorite film of the franchise as it did a good job of wrapping things up, even if they decided to have Tommy look at the camera at the end of the film, despite Jason Voorhees being dead once and for all… until Part IV made a lot of money, therefore the franchise can’t die after 4 films. Great video, this was really entertaining. I hope you keep up the great work, take care!
i loveeee ur analysis on f13 i have never seen someone go so in depth regarding the series with so so much love and detail. plsss keep doing what ur doing this was a 35 mins very well spent lmfao
The first four Fridays were pure genius! Why? For the basic reason that: They kept it simple! Yes, there were a few twists and turns in there, but all in all- psycho stalks and kills counselors and campers at an infamous campsite in creative ways. That's really all there is and needs to be to it. Oh and throw in a little nudity, drugs/alcohol, stupid humor, and shazam! There you go.
This was really well put together - thanks! Friday the 13th Part VI was the first proper horror film I ever watched... I still remember my mom and I flipping around the tv - early 90's. We were looking for Zorro (1990-1993) and well... we didn't find Zorro. lmao. She let me watch this thing and it was terrifying and I distinctly remember it being a rainy-ass night and my bedroom window backing onto a ground level backyard. Good times.
Just found your channel and I do enjoy the Friday movies so nice work! My personal theory is Jason is a lot like me and does what he does because he finds the counselors super annoying lol
I got back into my friday the 13th phase after like 7 years and just seen this video. Ive been a fan since the age of 11 and have been also playing the game wich is still something that im sad about. Great video btw!
After Part 2. They really moved away from the camp counselors recipe to the friends partying recipe. Then eventually to just high school kids graduating on a boat to New York.
love this type of content. would love video on Killer Klowns from Outer Space if u could find a way to put it into a video essay, and if u wanted to of course.
I've always felt that people get the Mother/Son Relationship of Pamela and Jason kind of backwards. Most seem to see Pamela as the Dominant one of the Two, but people forget that Jason is/was a "Special Needs Child" Being that most assume that He is a Nice Angelic Like Child due to that condition, and that is Not always the Case! I can see Jason being Totally Spoiled and Protected by Pamela and Him having her totally wrapped around his finger. His desires are what drove her, and the Neglect of the Camp Counslers and their "Teenage Antics" are things a child will not understand and hate. That and I kind of like it having a more Supernatural hint to it.
i loved these two videos; after the first one i revisited the first film and i had a lot more respect for it and it climbed up a few places in my ranking. will you be ranking/discussing the “jason” films as well?! your comment about the weed-smoking cgi caterpillar killed me lmaoo
I was hoping to hear you talk about Jason Goes to Hell. Not because it's the best Friday the 13th movie (Jason Lives and New Blood for me), but because there's so much to talk about on an analytical and thematic level. Whether you love or hate it, I feel like you'd have a lot to say.
Black Christmas was the "slasher blueprint" and the idea of part II ruining the idea is one shared by the creator of the first film who only ever intended there to be one.
While I do love part 2, it literally stole 2 kills from Mario Bava's A Bay of Blood, which hurts its legacy a little bit. I've never heard that people hate part 3. I love it, obvious 3D gimmicks included. Cinema peaked when Jason kicked the boom box in part 8. Hollywood should have stopped making movies because it was all down hill from there. 😆

Yes the first four movies are my favorite by far. Jason Lives and New Blood,Freddy vs Jason are fun. But in a creature feature type of way. Not that camp slasher that was scary.
Seriously. The Final Chapter may be the best all around horror movie. As in the perfect Friday movie. My favorite is still Part 2. It's my go to. My comfort film. And imo it's the scariest one.
Maybe you should consider some other messages being conveyed by names in the franchise, from the Christys to (Virginia which, of course, means virgin, and has even been employed to convey that concept by Gnostics such as "hatchet-wielding hitchhiker" and convicted murderer Caleb "Kai" Mc Gillvary who combined it with Sophia, the latter being personified wisdom which is portrayed in Gnosticism as having given birth to a fatherless, hideously deformed child, specifically the God of "Old Testament" Judaism - who rewarded Pinkhas with an everlasting priesthood for spearing two fornicators caught in the act. Sophia is also identified with the Lady in the Lake, as is Mrs. Voorhees) Ginny Field to Chris(tine) Higgins to (Chris)Tina Shepard, who splits Jason's mask similarly to the rending of the veil of the Jerusalem Temple according to the New Testament book of Matthew.

Jason definitely assaulted Chris. Didnt know that was up for debate. I even have a theory where she would have Jason's kid and they thought better of it. Just a theory.
@@TheLongestTake really want to see that one, Ive heard great things about it. Sadly, all my theater money this summer has gone to Maxxxine and hopefully Longlegs sometime soon. When In A Violent Nature goes to Blu-ray tho I’ll definitely be checking it out!

@@bababoey9279 yeah Freddy only got 1 🤣🤣 but the reason for that is because that's when new line cinema just bought the rights to the Jason character, meaning Jason was their new toy
It was in 3D so it's filmed in a certain way as well where ppl are aiming stuff and throwing stuff at the camera. They wanted to also make the SA scene in 3. Terrible.
I enjoy how batshit crazy people’s theories about films can be. People in the past have over analyzed this franchise, and Sean Cunningham was just like, “no” he viewed death as being the worst thing a teenager could face, and hence why teenagers die in the movies. Has absolutely nothing to do with overbearing parents. The reason why Pamela was over protective was because her son was special needs.
You never miss

@makingmediamatter Believe it or not, part 3 is my favorite. The thing is with 3, is you have to watch it in 3D. Which I can. Why is 3 my favorite? Richard Brooker. To me, he's the archetype Jason. They always have a bizarre dream sequence. The first three films at least.
the number of times I said "omg that makes so much sense!!!" watching this video is lowkey embarrassing... you are so smart
I’ve watched 2 and three, dismissively, and now I’m here 😄 what is happening to me?!
Good video
I got back into my friday the 13th phase after like 7 years and just seen this video. Ive been a fan since the age of 11 and have been also playing the game wich is still something that im sad about. Great video btw!
After Part 2. They really moved away from the camp counselors recipe to the friends partying recipe. Then eventually to just high school kids graduating on a boat to New York.
Tommy Jarvis did sort of use the Ginny trick by playing with Jason's psychy.
Freddy vs Jason is kinda stupid tho but I don't count that as Friday The 13th movie
my new favorite youtuber doing a video on my favorite horror franchise LFG
Even notice how movie NYC looks like Toronto?
14:53 I loved that, such a good laugh and perfectly placed
Love your horror content !!
im glad this one got recommended to me, excited for pt3
looking forward to the ranking video! Take care x
love this type of content. would love video on Killer Klowns from Outer Space if u could find a way to put it into a video essay, and if u wanted to of course.
Friday 6: Jason lashing out at random people = he's been dead and rotting for a bit. He's not mentally all there....Well, even less than before.
That and I kind of like it having a more Supernatural hint to it.
i think we’re dead meat
REAL dead meat!
Great series and amazing video but your passion should inspire you to let others share that passion. Thank you for the hard work.
you’re underrated shawty🙏🏾
This was great, thank you for making it
i loved these two videos; after the first one i revisited the first film and i had a lot more respect for it and it climbed up a few places in my ranking. will you be ranking/discussing the “jason” films as well?! your comment about the weed-smoking cgi caterpillar killed me lmaoo
Yes, I will be covering all 12 of the Jason movies! And thank you for the kind words, I’m happy you enjoyed the video!!!
@@makingmediamatter hell yeah, can’t wait !!!
Great video as always, but (not related comment), I wonder what do you have to say about the X trilogy, if you're planning anything regarding it
Much is planned, for sooner than you might think. Trust…
@@makingmediamatter Oh I'm excited to see whatever you have in your sleeves
Definitely some great commentary on my favorite slasher.
Just finding my way 2 this analysis and I loved it. Could definitely listen 2 u talk F13 all day! Is that a samson Q2U mic?
@@kctaynor6134 thank you and yes it is!!
So, Jason didn't drown and resurrect for the first time? That's what I always assumed.
NOW I FINALLY UNDERSTAND
ALL THIS TIME YOU’VE BEEN RELEASING VIDEOS ABOUT FRIDAY THE 13TH ON FRIDAYS1!1!1!!1
I would like to see a breakdown of a fan film never hike alone ghost jason
I was hoping to hear you talk about Jason Goes to Hell. Not because it's the best Friday the 13th movie (Jason Lives and New Blood for me), but because there's so much to talk about on an analytical and thematic level. Whether you love or hate it, I feel like you'd have a lot to say.
Maybe I'll circle back to cover that one day! It's one I definitely enjoy
The Final Chapter has the best cast of victims. They got Crispin fuckin Glover! A year later he was in the biggest film of 1985.
Black Christmas was the "slasher blueprint" and the idea of part II ruining the idea is one shared by the creator of the first film who only ever intended there to be one.
this video is insane but we're subbing anyway
While I do love part 2, it literally stole 2 kills from Mario Bava's A Bay of Blood, which hurts its legacy a little bit.
I've never heard that people hate part 3. I love it, obvious 3D gimmicks included.
Cinema peaked when Jason kicked the boom box in part 8. Hollywood should have stopped making movies because it was all down hill from there. 😆
Being Tommy's age at the time pt. 4 came out. I assure that the Friday series was very popular amongst us.
Excuse English.

Lost me at dissing part 3. It has a big cult following. My favorite Friday. It is superior to part 4.
What did you think about the 2009 remake? I enjoyed it.
Alrighty campers...
Seriously. The Final Chapter may be the best all around horror movie. As in the perfect Friday movie. My favorite is still Part 2. It's my go to. My comfort film. And imo it's the scariest one.
Wow...love discovering channels paying respect to the stuff this old man grew up on.
What you said about making content on what you're passionate about. Is 100% on the money. Do that! The views will follow. The engagement will come.
Can you do this for the scream franchise?
If these videos blow up, I’d definitely consider that!
AMAZING VIDEO!
As it is said in the movies "ch ch ch ha ha ha"
do you think you're gonna make a video about the X trilogy now that maxxxine is out
Literally working on that as we speak!!! Definitely check out my letterboxd for my thoughts on MaXXXine.
Just subscribed Friday the 13 3 was fun tho Jason wouldn't had gotten is hockey mask without the movie as well

@@Ice_man2000 completely fair! It’s just not one of my favorites, but I still have heavy nostalgia for it
It turned comedic. He's undead.
Jason definitely assaulted Chris. Didnt know that was up for debate.
I even have a theory where she would have Jason's kid and they thought better of it. Just a theory.
should’ve went over jason goes to hell and jason x hahaha
Great video.
Part 6 is the strongest in the series
It’s not even close. Shelly is the worst part of part 3D
Shelly was the mask barer.
I would love a breakdown video on In A Violent Nature. The parallels between that and Friday the 13th goes without saying.
@@TheLongestTake really want to see that one, Ive heard great things about it. Sadly, all my theater money this summer has gone to Maxxxine and hopefully Longlegs sometime soon. When In A Violent Nature goes to Blu-ray tho I’ll definitely be checking it out!

I loved Maxxxine and Longlegs! This has been an excellent year for horror (some duds, but the hits have been HITS)
Freddy vs Jason is not a Friday the 13th or Jason movie, but actually an a nightmare on elm street movie
And yet Jason got way more kills than Freddy
@@bababoey9279 yeah Freddy only got 1 🤣🤣 but the reason for that is because that's when new line cinema just bought the rights to the Jason character, meaning Jason was their new toy
"Just bought" Jason for 2003's Freddy vs Jason but New Line made Jason Goes to Hell in 1993
I used to work in a morgue. Med staff bang in the morgue all of the time. 😮
Each other, not the corpses, if that was unclear.
Tommy playing Zaxon.
It was in 3D so it's filmed in a certain way as well where ppl are aiming stuff and throwing stuff at the camera. They wanted to also make the SA scene in 3. Terrible.
Part 6 🎉
Omg i love you 💓

The sack ROFL
Nobody like JTM. He spent so very little time in NYC. It was a bait/switch.
Why are you apologizing for loving the Friday the 13th movies? Only people who don't love those movies need to apologize.
32:21 jesus what
"it's all about gender"
God, you people truly need to have your priorities about your perception of the world out of your back ends.
Disagree
Jason was bullied and jus wanted to be accredited so he takes his anger for the ppl whonhurt the. Out on those at the camp n in groups
They got lazy with pt. 3 because, hey, it's in 3-D! 😂
First!
