    Good to see people still use their synth to make sounds, not compare them with other synths or redo songs.

    awesome patch thank you! also an extra goodie i found: if you turn the frequency modulation eg1/ext to about half way between 1 and 2, you get this really cool detuned effect where the oscillators go down in pitch a little bit when a note isn’t being played. it has a really nostalgic, but slightly unsettling sound to it

      sounds a bit like one of the new bladerunner soundtracks with that turned a bit up

      I've owned an MS-20 mini for about 3 years but have only just now really started to explore it. I'm very much an admirer of the MS-10 and despite it giving you so many more options, I didn't really think I needed the 20. I'm starting to appreciate just how right you are in saying that it's a complex and versatile machine. I've heard a good few people say that it's their favourite all time synth and I think I'm beginning to see why. It can sound brutally raw and out of control or it can sound refined and restrained just like in this video. It seems it can also do just about everything in between. The downside, if there is one is that it is not the most logical or intuitive synth ever made but I think it's probably well worth the effort to get to know your way around it.

    Thanks for sharing! I don't know if it's me or the MS-20 but I felt like I had to carefully tweak the knobs on the synth and then use eq in my DJ mixer to get close to this sound. Got around to trying to recreate it in Korg's MS-20 plug-in, I can't get the HPF to self-oscillate and get a nice deep low end like the original, but got pretty close. The knob positions were way different on some parameters though on the plugin. Verdict: get the original 8)

    • @Oiseaumusic
      @Oiseaumusic 3 роки тому

      Tried the same just now with same settings, sounds totally different in the plugin. So the knob positions must be different for sure.

    • @theeltea
      @theeltea 3 роки тому

      @@Oiseaumusic I also get a bit different results from a korg35 based vcf MS-20 and a later one I borrowed from a friend.

    • @Oiseaumusic
      @Oiseaumusic 3 роки тому

      @@theeltea With the Korg Software plugin I cant even come close to this sound, already the basic starting sound to me sounds completely different and is way worse. Not sure if its my lack of adjustment or if the plugin is just miles weaker. Sadly I don't own a real one to be able to compare 1on1.

    Great stuff. I'm with you up until the dropping of the levels on the VCO mixer and then the part with the high pass filter. Then the sound diverges a great deal and I'm not sure why.
    doing this on an ipad app btw.
